  • Great fight but dude?! The endless walking!

  • great camera!

  • dude too much walking

  • cool dude

  • I think too much walking.... Two victims also had been enough... You made the film for the song... But the idea of the story is great.

  • Yeah, you're right. Thanks for checking it out, I'm glad you liked it.

  • Haha, nicely done.

  • Costumes provided by Hot Topic.

  • good story line and it could of been a better fight it was kick ass though

  • Thanks for the feedback and for checking it out, I'm glad you liked it!

  • lol, you dress up like matrix

  • *hmmm.... I know I left my wallet around here somewhere...*

  • Just a thought.... Have you thought of making a sequel? :) It's just that I think you could go somewhere with this.

  • I've considered it. But I think I should do a few other things first before coming back to it.

  • that was butt jason! i keed, i keed ^_^

  • YOU'RE BUTT.

  • too much walllkkking

  • not enouph action was quit boring allso

  • Fell in love with the ending, great way to put the flame out ;)

  • Awesome, I'm glad you liked it. =D

    Thanks for commenting.

  • Excellent. The best since both RvDs and the Darth Maul fan film.

Some constructive criticism, if I may:

    1. Excellent locale, and good choice to use the Frank Miller type shades of black and blue for the film. Saber color needed to be different, though. Got lost in the backdrop of the sky.

    2. Good choreography. A little too John Woo for my personal liking, but good.

    3. Liked the effort to make a serious piece of art, rather than copying the RvD brand of humor.

    4. All the walking got a bit tiring.

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment.

    1. I never considered Frank Miller (I prefer Zack Snyder's color grading), but I see it now. There's a common misconception that the saber color was responsible for its effect against the sky. That's due to the screen compositing over the original footage to provide luminescence. In reality, if you held a light up against a white sky, it would do the same. Granted, another color may still have been preferable. Ultimately, the fault is in the framing.

  • 2. I consider the in-camera choreography the weakest aspect because we simply planned bits of action shot by shot. Considering the sequence was created entirely in post, and I'm proud of the result.

    3. Many people seem to overlook my intent. I really appreciate your notice.

    4. In retro, I'd say I edited as a cinematographer and not as a director. I love every shot, but I kept things that simply drag down the pacing.

It's always refreshing to hear well-rounded feedback like this. Thanks again.

  • bravi

  • grazie ^^

  • Beautiful effects and scenery. Original and awesome concept. Nice costumes. Great camera work.

    Rigid fighting. Cliché final battle.

    Outstanding effort.

    4/5.

  • Thanks for checking it out and commenting.

  • I have seen worse. There was far to much walking, and I couldn't tell which side was which (if there were sides).

Different colored lightsabers would have been nice, and some camera angles that showed the two oponents fighting instead of just focusing on one at a time.

That being said, the effects were top notch, I liked the fact that your sabers gave off light on the ground.

all in all, i'll give it a 6.5 out of 10.

  • Thank you! I'm glad you noticed the ground effects.

  • It was ok, 3/5

  • Thanks for checking it out.

  • Good or bad, I really appreciate all your comments. Thank you.

  • I've also got to say that the semblance to Kitamura's style as far as visual effects and mood go, I really enjoyed it. The whole mystique behind the background, as well as the color schemes and the final battle were indeed quite pleasing to the eyes. But next time, friend, please... more narration. Please don't hate on me, though, I really did like it :)

  • No worried, no hate, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for being honest.

  • I admit, it was very creative. But I have to agree with some of the others. Too much walking. You could have at least narrated it as you were walking, instead of utter silence. It somewhat took away from the storytelling experience. Other than that, I liked the concept and hope you make more.

  • this is pretty cool the music, visuals, flashbacks, nice

  • I had to make use of the fast forward, but really dug, the duel!

  • "One of us must fall" that's very, very good!

  • Great video. What was the name of the song and group of the soundtrack you used on this, It was great !!!!!

  • Thanks! As the credits list, it features two songs from the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack by Hans Zimmer: Injection (walking) and Mano A Mano (the duel).

  • AWESOME!!!

Great to know that there's another Ryuhei Kitamura fan here. First, let me add, that your film is definitely a Kitamura-inspired film. I love the editing of the two separate angles of the characters just like in the end-fight of Versus.

The look of the film itself is just like Ryuhei Kitamura's ALIVE, because that film also had the blue-white desaturated look as well.

Anyways, AWESOME fan-film. Hope to see more of your work in the near future.

  • Thank you, it's great to hear a fellow Kitamura fan appreciates my choice of style. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

  • "Injection" and "Mano A Mano" from the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack.

  • I always wish they made a sequel to Versus...what a bastard of an ending, huh?

What effect is that to get your colors like that? The blue/white color.... I love it.

  • Yeah, Versus was a lot of fun. I really liked the ending.

For the blue look, I just desaturated, then gave it a rich blue midtone (I tried to keep the highlights white and the shadows black). I whited out the sky in every shot, then duplicated the white matte and blurred it to get that overexposed look.

All that, just because the leather coats are actually burgundy and I wanted them to appear black. >.>

  • Good job! I love the bluish effect the movie has. Great editing job with the fighting scenes as well!

  • Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
