Then just use the tips of your fingers. The sound will not be quite as bright but some people prefer this.

It felt weird to me too when I first started, but very soon you'll get used to it. Now I'm trying to add the pinky to some playing :)

Really cool video Tyler. I've been using finger style for as long as I can remember, but it really is a shame that I learned it on my own and not through proper instruction. Now it's really hard to 'undo' all my bad habits. Playing on a dreadnought instead of a concert style is also a little more difficult in my opinion.

Electric is great and has its place but far too often it's used with so many EFFECTS just to cover up the fact that you really can't play!

Actually, covering up is never possible. If you listen carefully, no matter what effects are on it, u can hear it if someone makes a mistake.
