I remember watching the original V, I loved this show, I loved Michael Ironside. He was and is the ultimate enforcer. I own the DVD of the original, and the series. Still fun to watch. It was very original for it's time, and very, very exciting. I still remember everyone talking about it! Back when everyone watched TV and looked forward to a new a different mini-series. Very hard to beat. Thanks.
Funny how there are people who love the original 5-part V mini-series, but hate the TV show that followed. The problem with the TV show was that it started off as a great continuation of the story, but then started turning into more of a "Sci-Fi soap opera". It became less about the resistance vs. the visitors, and more about the drama between Lydia, Diana, & Charles, and other such nonsense. V started turning into a Days of Our Lives (with lizards). Only lasted 1 season.
One of my favourite characters from "V" was Ham Tyler (Michael Ironside). Although the TV series was a failure to me, I do remember this episode clearly and enjoyed it because we finally explore into Ham's past. I love that he had an Asian wife (being Asian myself and had a GIANT crush on Ironside).
All I can say is thank God they didn't make him wear the white unitard reserved for conversion subjects though I'm sure ol' Ham would have made that look manlier than what Charles is wearing lol.
I've been trying to find Charles' funeral scene, where Marta wakes up in the casket with him. I've been looking for a while. Anyone know where I can find it?
Charles used to be an ice skater in real life (I'm not kidding), so that explains the billowy David Copperfield get-up, I suppose. And also: Ham Tyler is the MAN. He's was so intense and textured, even when the regular show eventually turned to campy bullshit. Love him, love Michael Ironside.
Someone did put it up. When you do the Search type in V The Series-01-Liberation Day. That was the first episode and that should open you up to all the tv series episodes. It has been up for a while but only a few views.
Why don't more men with power show their chests more?! Charles!; you are scrumptious!
I am so surprised that Diana was so turned off by Charles in this scene, but it shows how deliciously evil she is that she is truly jealous of his power. Diana was one of the sexiest spicy fem fatales on TV in the 80's besides Dynasty's Alexis Carrington. Now that was a real biatch you love to hate.
I found him absolutely stone cold in The Final Battle. Too machismo and John Wayne for my liking, and not even a smile from him during the entire second season!
Thank goodness, he made up for it in the weekly series by being more natural and comical -- even if the comedy was unintentional! I do like Ironside's strong performance, though.
I'd just like to thank the writers for not having Ham wear one of those skin-colored leotards like other people wore in the conversion chamber!

This was actually a good scene, especially considering that it was the weekly series and not the miniseries. But it wasn't funny.

I don't think it's so "funny" or "entertaining". Rather, it's tragic!

The orginal mini-series was awesome but the TV show that followed after that sucked donkey's b*lls. No wonder that it lasted for only 1 season.

Yeah true, i liked the show in the begining but then it started to drag on and on.

This is probably the "best" episode of the series because of the storyline with Ham, but I also enjoy The Deception.
