Hey I have one more question... I want to use my roadie pedals for this (for some odd reason) would I be able to do that or would I need a kick trigger?
the ion roadie pedal won't work with the gh brain. I'm aware that if you use a rock band kit you'll need a kick box to transmit the signal from the magnet to a piezo signal. Any E-kick trigger like a roland kd-8 or yamaha kick would work automatically with gh.
i will create another video on setting up a "NEW" guitar hero drumset step-by-step adding 1/4" jacks and possibly mounting them on the drumset itself. I'll also include how to set up the custom expansion I made.
both videos will hopefully include my new acoustic drumset converting to e-drums. I've had fun with the ions but I just want to adjust to something new.
Everyone i'll be attempting to test an upgraded version to adj. the sensitivity and crosstalk with pototienmeters and everything is grafted in one box. I'll keep you guys posted.
Thanks for the info. I made a kit like yours and it works fine. However, it works to good. Every time I hit the drums when connected to Guitar hero,,, It is Way sensitive. If I hit the symbols, it makes the drums go as well. Is there anyway to turn down the sensitivity?
you could get a midi/usb cable to adjust the sensitivity. Redoctane still offers some as well as the interface software to solve the problem. I've had to adjust mine all the way to "0-3" instead of the default "10".
someone else has already thought of this? damn. lol
I was planning on buying the ions with 2 cymbals, using them without the cymbals for RB, then buy one of these controllers for GH:WT/M/5, and use it with 3 drums and the 2 cymbals.
I think it'll be perfect, as long as the cymbals dont crap out on me.
Ok, I found the problem. I was using MONO jacks, even though EVERYWHERE says use MONO jacks.. I just tried it with a stereo jack and it works fine.. :(
When I've soldered the wires to the mono connecters my pads don't register AT ALL. The connection between everything is fine. But NONE of them register. (I'm using ION's and trying to create what you have made, I have all the parts. Please, please help me.)

I am so completely confused on how to do this.... this is simple but I need it simpler if possible.
Could you possibly pm a simplified way on how to build it first then the expansion.

Ion cymbals are somewhat of a hassle, same for the roadie cymbals. I would recommended some pintech cymbals if you start to have problems

Quick question metal will a standard rock band pedal work with this?
Seleuicid 2 years ago
nope, unless you place a piezo sensor inside.

damn but the default ion kick pedal works.....ok thanks.
