Smoking is the worlds most evil industry. The medical field profits off of lung cancer thats why there is little treatment for it. The tobacco companies are filthy rich and continue to add more chemicals to their cigarettes every year to make them more addictive. Tobacco companies are silently killing people for their own profit. I lost my farther to lung cancer when I was 16. I hope someone exposes these mass murderers or the government taxes the hell out of cigarettes to stop the suffering.

Wow, that's a big if.

Chantix doesn't sell itself to be a permanent addiction replacer. They clearly state in the instructions that you're meant to eventually go off the pill after so many weeks of lessening your dependence on cigarettes.

And if he is STILL on the pill after that period of allotted time- that's his own fault; not Chantix's.

My mom has been taking that stuff for a ... While.

And she's still smoking just as much as she ever did.

I think it was a psychological thing, and for a while, she was down to one pack a day, instead of two.

I'm glad that medication worked for someone.

Millions of people have diseases from smoking, I know it is their choice, these things are just to make sure that the people who smoke don't increase too much, because over 62,000 people die from heart disease, and 3,000 people die from lung cancer per year from just second-hand smoke. The government is just really scared because the tobacco industry can spend more than $11,000,000 dollars a day on just advertising their products, more than the government spends to discourage it an entire year.

i totally agree with you. i am a smoker as well. and in all honesty i dont need anybody telling me that it is bad for me. i already know it is. i smoke cause i enjoy it. but you will agree with me on this that we would kill the person that invented them. but its like any addiction we will give up when we feel ready. i personally dont want to be told to give up by anybody and like i said kids are bright enough not to start.

Hopefully children have a bit of sense when it comes to smoking. I started when I was 13 and stopped at 19. I love cigs and think parents are responsible for their childrens well being. McDonalds advertises kids meals (which are bad too) shame on them. :-)

So, in conclusion, lets blame the tobacco companies for the deaths of people who CHOSE to start smoking (knowing the risks). I guess the warning label on the box that states that they may cause birth defects and cancer isnt enough anymore.

I can understand how people think that the tobacco industry is promoting cigarettes to kids, but most of the statements made in that commercial are not true. Tobacco companies don't advertise in schools, that's illegal; they don't lower their prices at all, in fact I've seen prices rise about $2 over the past 3 years thanks to the government and rising tobacco production costs. People need to learn to think for themselves for a change; enough of this socialist propaganda.

Also, there are few organizations that are against the smokers themselves. Most of the time, they're against the tobacco industry. So don't be so offended and negative. It's just trying to prevent YOUTH from starting to smoke. It's true what this commercial is saying, Companies like Imperial Tobacco and Philip Morris are looking for replacement smokers for those who die of different diseases directly linked to smoking.

The groups arent "anti-smoking" or against the person whos smoking. Theyre just against the tobacco industry, and if you go out and ask youth who smoke why they started, I can guarantee that they will not say because they were influenced by these kinds of commercials. They will say things like, "because my family and friends smoke, I needed something to relieve stress" etc. There are many reasons why youth start to smoke. "Anti-smoking organizations" and their commercials are not one of them.
