  • See i love this. Ppl always say u cant drift a ka24e. This proves other wise. With some practice n natural skill i think its very possible to drift the sohc. Im havin my ka24e built up to about 240 hp

  • inspires me to drift my single cam now.

  • thats skill not power..respect

  • single cam doin it.

  • i just wanted to tell you that that is fucking sick.

  • Is that Tenino, Washington??

  • I know this is an old vid. Doing a stock rebuild, throwing in oj cam, 4-2-1 header, custom intake and maybe slightly larger injectors/maf.

Curious what wheels ur running in the front and back. Believe people say not to go over 16's with a na sohc.

    thanks

  • Holy shit, your badass dude. Keep it up give more vids please.

  • @rangerjavi

    youtube.com/watch?v=UdZXA2xXvN8&feature=related

  • @rvaldez420 sort of. a dohc gives a lil bit more power cause u have 2 cams to deliver power from the intake. my opinion id go with the dohc. but its ur decision

  • i can drift a truck, and im 11. wow.

  • @Justimann1 shut up kid.

  • @RainingSushi how about you, b.i.t.c.h1

  • @RainingSushi how about you, b.i.t.c.h!

  • @Justimann1 wow, you can spell! how about you drift daddy's car into a wall.

  • Comment removed

  • @Tnesjed Oh yeah? HAve you Drifted a SEMI TRUCK? PROBABLY NOT!

  • Comment removed

  • LOL you really beat the crap out of that sohc

  • when drifting does it matter if its a dohc or a sohc? does it make a lot of difference?? planning on getting a 240 really soon so i would like to know plz!

  • @rvaldez420 its not a huge deal, dual has more hp, coilovers and a weld diff well get you well started, suspension>horsepower.

  • i love my single slammer. have this car but in the two tone seafoam color. =D

  • hell yeah, killin it

  • can't believe this is stock dude! So Cool!!!

  • amazing man..makes me love my ka24e now hahaha

  • fk ya, pug nose!

  • Pretty good for 140/155 hp!!

  • mad props for a single cam

  • Sexyyy

  • 2.4s are underrated thats sick wat u do to it??

  • sick ass drift move

  • Is the differential welded or does this car have the j30 differential?

  • what does this have for suspension mods done to it?

  • is the same engine than the hardbody truck!!! amazing!!!

  • Wow that track must be slick.

Single cam drifting is really hard on a skid pad.

I am swapping another SOHC in because I spun a bearing, time for a cam and stuff now.

  • love that ka sound!!! sounds just like mine. i cant ever get enough of this video its inspiring to me

  • What the hell. You did that with a snail KA24E?! Impressive.

  • And thats how you get the most out of the ka24e! nice!

  • nice control man and a good example that sohc are very under estimated

  • good driver

  • What size tires were you using?

  • Do you remember what wheels sizes you were using?

Im contemplating on what i should get for drifting with the stock power. I don't wanna buy bigger better rims and then have troubles with breaking the traction.

I'm thinking 16x7 in the front, 16x8 in the rear. Or 16x8 on both if it wont make it much harder to spin the wheels.

  • not gonna lie that was some nice drifting with the ka, not much of nissan guy more of the jeep four wheeling guy but still enjoy anything automotive

  • your pretty beast at drifting bro

  • i got the exact same kinda coupe with the s13 zenki bumper but i got the stock taillights. people think mine is ugly though cause it sits pretty high and you probably know this car needs to sit low to look good.

  • Holy Fuk!! Amazing thats only a SOHC..WOW!! Good driving buddy:D

  • this is the result of confidence and knowledge. pure awesomeness!!!! kick ass driving man absolutely brilliant.

  • id love to see a mustang or a camaro or a charger or even a corvette do it as consistant as an import

  • Where was this filmed?

  • Were you running meshies in the front and teardrops in the rear?

  • what kind of headers did u have on it

  • Single cam 4 life!!!

  • sick, you got skills. don't do a swap love underdog god fights.

  • nice skills

  • Tthis video made me decide to save a wad of cash and actually get my stock ka bored over and rebuilt. along with some tein coils

  • in this vid were you just mashing the throttle(for the most part), or how did you keep it sitting sideways so smoothly?

  • did you do anything to the KA?

  • A + +

  • what kinda lsd did you have on this kae? welded? vlsd?

  • says he had a 2 way lsd in desciption

  • KA24E FTW!! :)

  • How many valves has the KA24E... 12?

  • yes

  • holy shit, stock is hard enough to elieve, but with a KA24? Insane. Crazy shit

  • thanks!

  • @Yahoodotcom my 89 with 227k drifts with good tires drifts just fine with everything stock besides exhaust/intake

  • awesome kae u got there

looks just like mine except mine is blue :)

    -PIGNOSE FTW!!

  • sick, i love drifting pignose coupes ;)

  • awesome

  • thx

  • Dam well i have never drifted in my life. yet. And if i ever do, i don't plan on crashing my 240 =D hopefully

  • If you don't crash, you're not pushing yourself, meaning you won't improve. I DO realize that there are naturally born drivers out there, but I definitely wasn't one.

  • Exactly. You'll never get any better if you don't take some risks. Everybody makes mistakes, but better drivers use that to their advantage.

  • Nobody plans on crashing something they care about... I lost one of my toys before =(

  • Holy Shit..thats pretty good for stock!! Cant wait to get my coupe on the tracK!!

  • HOW THE HELL DID YOU CRASH BRO. You look like a dam good driver to me! I bet you were texting!

  • I crashed it doing tandem with a buddy. Crashing is just part of drifting man. Everyone does it eventually. I just replied to you while drifting, no crash, awesome ;-)

    -Matt

  • @Flipapeeno

lol i dont think he crashed, i think he just left the track. prolly was txting the whole time tho

  • damm good job bro

  • i have that eng. in my truck...nice drifting

  • Kind of makes me want a coupe...?

*NO! Never think like that again! You LOVE YOUR HATCH!!*

    ^That was to myself

Well i guess i can always have a hatch and a coupe, best of both worlds.

  • I'll guess second gear flooring it the whole time?

  • holy fuck that single cam does work

  • thats pretty damn good for the single slammer!

  • sweet i got a coupe just like it.... man and that looks fun can't wait til summer again and all my goodies i plan to get...

  • idk why ppl r so afraid to give these single cams a chance with a little work they're damn good torque monsters. i have one in my 240 and i getting a spare block that im building for boost. i luv that gold coupe though.

  • Thanks man. I still love a KA car just go out and have fun in. It's too bad that at the bigger tracks it just can't cut it ;-(

  • i love the smooth sound of these things. LOVE IT.

  • Thanks! I really miss this car ;-(

  • thats the beauty of it, their so underestimated that it bring resale value down. way down, you can pick up a running ka24e 240sx for like $500 these days.

  • Not in my area, supply is so low that i had to go $1500 for mine, and there is a little rust.

I'm trying to find a time when i can either drive or tow it back to my house for a little work, but the weather moved in so im stuck completely....

  • I wish thats how it was in ohio...everyone sells all 240's for like $3k.....

  • is this beech ridge?!

  • No it's South Sound Speedway in Washington State.

  • i can hear the open differential chirping, lol.

  • this guy says open diff... hahah

  • It is an open differential, read the description. It comes stock with one. I'm pretty sure it didn't have HICAS.

  • where does it say open diff? i see a 2way which is a full rear end locking system

  • My bad, I thought it said 2 way coilovers, hah. O:

  • haha! and ppl ask y don't i swap out my single cam..............no tyme soon! ka24e FTW!

  • thats ill

  • deeeng that is a grip of smoke for a single cam

  • whats a KA24E make to the wheels?

    90?

  • bout 140 on paper. sometimes up 160ish stock on the twin cam. does this look like 90?

  • well i know the power at the crank.

    Im asking at the wheels.

  • probably like 110

  • not even that much. probably around

    75ish...

  • I think I was making about 120hp to the wheels.

  • - about 30% from the drivetran, drive shaft, diff and tires..

  • the KA is a really fun motor..

prolly a little too fun and the reason for flipping my 240 XD

  • that's alot of smoke for a DE

  • just to give you more *wow* factor, its an E, single slammer woohoo

  • this one's a single cam E, not a DE

  • d15/16 = sohc 1.5-1.6

they came in non and vtec

    d15b

    d16z6/y8 are vtec

    d15b2-7-8 non vtec

    d16a1/6 non vtec

they are pretty decent when you open them up, but they arent as poswerful as the b series and have smaller pistons as well. id say a y8 with i/h/e puts out around 120-ish to the wheel

  • fucking sick, especially for a kaE lol

  • ::evil grin::

  • matt, was the ka24e good enough to have plenty enough power for twisty roads, and would it hang with most d15/d16 civics with i/h/e?

  • a KA24E with boltons will easily smoke any D-series civic, unless it's turbo.

  • It was fine I guess. Just never lift and it will be fun. As far as the civics go, I don't even know what a d15/d16 is. The only hondas I have ever driven were totally stock.

  • and thats how a honda should stay :P

  • if im not mistaken, hes running either the stock teardrops or oz racing rally discs in the rear, and either drag or xxr's up front. well done..

  • Yeah stock teardrops in the rear. SSR mesh up front I think. It's been a long time so I'm not sure. Thanks for the comments.

    -Matt

  • your car have only ka24de whit headers and intkae and you drift pretty easy

  • plenty of power.. listen to that thing, i mean watch what he can do with it.. seems like plenty of power to me.

  • i dont think ive seen anyone on this whole thread say that a the e is bttr than the de. i mean its a good engine you have, but it puts out a lil less power and since i dont have one im guessing its a lil less responsive on the throttle. honestly, if your not trying to drag anyone or going against turbo cars on the track, id say the ka24e has plenty of power for the touge.

  • damn i wish i had an s13 silvia with the s15 de + the 6 spd.. with bttr cams and pnp n valve work and a stock block + gutted interior on coilovers with the stock teardrops and some sort of engine management it would be a track/touge beast.

and also, fuck off if you have a problem with this guys exploitation of the capabilities of the ka24e.

  • I have 240sx with KA24e are you saying it's better then KA24de?

  • dam this guy can drift

  • nice skills man...even with an underpowered car..sucks that u crashed it tho

  • awsome. sohc love.

  • dang... so.. this car is now crashed and junk huh? what a bummer.. that car is nice though looks just like mine cept mines blue :D

  • fucking sick. thanks for uploading

  • you probably could not do what this driver is, this is some real skills.

  • This is the video that made me decide to buy my car... Watch my videos of my single cam. These cars can do a lot more than people would expect.

Thanks for the awesome video and inspiration. I went from an S2000 to a 240.

  • FAIL!!!!!!!!!

  • I own a 240 and even I say FAIL. you idiot!

  • Pignose!!

    :P

  • skillzz

  • sick for a sohc,mad skills

  • Deft force right?

  • mad skills bro. Proves the soch has potential.

  • Welded diff???

    if that's open...that's really good...

  • everyone hates on the KA's but i would take an all motor KA over a built Sr any day.

  • I know your saying that because you never Drifted with an SR. I drift with a KA and recently rode on my friends S14 with an S15 SR20DET motor. The KA doesn't even compare.

  • Though your true in SOME Little sense. Place a SR driver INTo a Ka car and see what he is able to do..

Then PUT a KA driver into a Sr and see what that guy does....

I guarantee you the original Ka dude in the SR will do better that the Sr guy.........

  • in what?

  • Very true. Ive been driving a stock SR20DE non turbo s13, much harder to drift and keep drifting than my turbo SR ;) Same diff in both cars, suspension pretty much the same too!

  • ofcourse it doesnt compare. The SR comes turbocharged. Turbo the KA instead then compare

  • i wish i could do this in a 130hp car...

    :0

  • south sound speedway? what track. nice driving

  • Yeah that was at South Sound Speedway.

    -Matt

  • Damn Matt is killing it in that low powered car.

  • that looks painful!!! :P

  • way to use that 115 hp! you drift beter than people i have seen with cars that have 300hp

  • Thanks! I have been drifting an ae86 for the last few years. I guess I can't stay away from underpowered cars ;-)

    -Matt

  • I recently sold my 88' 240sx for 1900 bucks.

  • YOU FUCKING TROLL

  • yeah AE86's unite!!!! i go tone too, '86 coupe SR5. i can at least drift a little in the rain.....damn open diff.

  • balls out. awesome. more!

  • great drifting with a stock motor!

    never lifting

  • What kind of diff are you running on this??

  • A.T.S. DeftForce 2 way.

    -Matt

  • Thanks! Great driving by the way. Keep up the good work.

  • I have been watching a few videos and wow you are good. Not just good; pro. I want to ditch my Civic and get a 240 SOO bad.

  • Oh thanks! I'm not pro though. I don't have any plans to go pro. Fun is my main priority but you never know.

  • wow sohc ftw here.

  • Did you straight pipe it?

  • The exhaust was just piping with a muffler on it. Pretty simple I guess.

    -Matt

  • your speed was ... yes!

  • you should be in no lift racing with us.lol

  • My single cam just took a shit on me at 308,224 miles today. lol

  • you are fucking aamazing

  • hahahaha thanks!

  • shit. i wish i could do that with my single cam.

  • You can! First thing, get out to the track. Even if you aren't good at first, keep practicing. Just getting out there is a big part of it. Good luck!
