Folks, if you are around LA, San Francisco, or Vancouver area, make sure to purchase the tickets for B'z concert in July! Don't miss out! They don't come here too often!!! I promise, you will not regret it!
I saw Tak Matsumoto, Koshi Inaba, and Specal guest Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big) they played this song "live" back in 2002 Okinawa Conventon Center concert duing Bz Green Tour! Awesome and very inspirational!!!! Thanks
Thanks YT user Aldomeyer for sharing this video with me. Tak Matsumoto added a soundscape of serenity to my morning. The video has finished playing but I can still hear his performance.
very true, the melody itself is very easy to learn. but the real hard parts of this song is the expression of the notes. and that is why tak matsumoto is a master.
geez... And they say that Carlo Santana is the best... They haven't heard Tak Matsumoto. I love his songs D: And I want more Tak Matsumoto Group albums :3
Ough... I love this. He is a world class guitar player, and it seems that he is highly underrated in the rest of the world... He got the speed, the technique and the feel. Well, to me, he is the Japanees answer to Gary Moore. He might even be better then Gary, since i've never seen him play live. I love this song and i love Tak. It would be nice to se him here in Sweden for once. LOOOOOOOOÖÖVVVVEEEEEEE!
this song means a lot in my life.. i dunno, i suddenly realized that when tears came from my eyes... man, i'm a big guy, that should've never happened be4 i listened 2 this song...
the most beatiful song i've ever heard.. hiks hiks...
I remember hearing this song on the radio in Japan in 2002 and I went out and bought the album immediately, such a beautifully composed melody. I also played the Tak gibson signature model guitar he's playing in the video in a guitar shop.
FYI this song is track no.3 from the solo album "HANA", and you can get it from ebay.
50% TECHNIQUE and 50% FEELING. Not many guitarrist can do that. This song is amazing. I recomended the entire album. If you can get it. In México is almost imposible. Guitar Forever. SIDDHARTA 2007.
AWESOME. And damnit, the whole technique vs. emotion always pervades pop music discussions, but in my opinion, Tak is damn talented and his music is very emotional to boot. Mere technique by the "world's best" instrumentalists often leave me cold.
I've been searching high and low for an .mp3 of Koi Uta, but even as I went to look, I found that neither Limewire nor Kazaa seem to acknowledge Tak Matsumoto's existance!
If anyone can help me find this music file, I would be most grateful...
sunbane666 - your post made me laugh a little bit. Cause you probably think virtuoso is a guy like Vai, or Satriani. BUT. If you know Larry LaLonde, or Tak, for example - it's mastery in my opinion - knowing just when NOT TO PLAY. And to know that - you have to be a virtuoso. To make things esthetic.
This is what guitar virtuouso should be - knowing how to arrange a guitar into the melody with other instruments not some scandinavian jackass shredding like no tomorrow on a "scalloped" fret guitar. WHAT THE HELL ARE THE SCALLOPED FRETS FOR RETARD?!
How is this guy a virtuoso? It was nicely played for sure, but this is stuff that a student with a year of experience could do easilly. When it comes to his improvised spots, his playing feels inhibited, and his vibrato is weak. There's nothing in this tune that screams 'virtuoso' on any level.
You analyze technique only. Realize that a guitar is not just vibrato, tapping or shredding. It's about arrangement and feel. He puts it well as an arranger, there's nothing excess. It's just enough. Not overlaying sixteenth notes plus delay and everything else.
I love this song since 4 years ago... :D

I first heard this song on the radio when I was visiting Japan back in 2002. I loved the song so much I went out and rented the Cd, Hana.
The blend of Erhu and electric guitar is so evocative. This song remains as beautiful today as the time I first heard it. Bravo, 5 stars!
