  • They should be playing every MGP so I can rest assured that there will be something good each time!

  • Круто! Не ожидал от Рыбака!

  • bang, bang, bang aaaarrrgh bang, bang ooooh aaaaarrrrgh BM Blows!

  • Really wish they'd come back to the states. it was awesome seeing them live.

  • The singing and the guitars are playback hehe , don´t you have ears or so?

  • @TheViolinAndMore

You mate, are a tool !!!

  • Imagine if the whole Eurovision would be like this? Actually something that sounds good? Ahh..

  • its a pity that it is playback...

  • @TheViolinAndMore It isn't.

  • Ohh respect to Alex ;)

  • Eventhough I don't listen to metal I think that it is so nice to see that you can use the violin in all kinds of music :) this is an good example for it :) and for me Alexander didn't need to play metal on his violin to prove that he is a man ;)

  • very good

  • If I had known they were playing there I would so be there on the first row! They live in my town god damn it. When will I be able to see them live!

  • Whouh! The violin fits greatly in this song! Black metal puritist wont like it, but hey they dont like any music that solds more than 50 records :-D

  • Нихуева браток!

  • If I would have seen this on TV when it aired, I would've soiled myself.

  • Это ПИЗДЕЦ!

  • kids this is not black metal .

  • @heavytom89

this is modern black metal asshole

  • @adlerdefender It is an extreme form of metal but it's definitely not black metal you ignorant fuckhead

  • @heavytom89 Of course it is. What else would it be?

  • @JohnZackarias Then please tell me why this is suppose to be black metal. Is it the music?? because it has more in common with thrash metal then black metal with an exeption of the drums. Is it the lyrics??? No the lyrics have absolutely nothing to do with black metal at all. The lyrics have more in common with power and folk metal than anything else. So please tell me why this is black metal?? Just because the vocalist is screaming and the band is norwegian dosent make it black metal.

  • @heavytom89 The main riff leans heavily toward thrash metal, yes, but the first black metal was like that too. Where do you want to go to define black metal anyway? Darkthrone? Mayhem? They were greatly influenced by other genres of metal. Emperor? This song sounds like a largely compressed and produced Anthems of the Welkin b-side. In the verse and chorus there's a great deal of black metal musicality, just listen to the chord progression and lead guitar.

    Continuing in next post-

  • @JohnZackarias I know that black metal are influenced by other genres of metal, but when a genre is firmly established then it has its rules. And i personally think that black metal has to be OPEN STRING oriented and satanic. But that those not mean that this band dont have any black metal influences in there music, but they are not a black metal band and should be happy that they are not just repeating the past..

  • @heavytom89 Furthermore, since when is folk imagery something new in black metal? Just look at Burzum, Immortal, Emperor and early Dimmu Borgir. There's a sea of black metal lyrics out there dealing with old Scandinavian folk tales about the forest, evil spirits, mountains and all that.

  • @JohnZackarias thats not the lyrics tath make those bands black metal, and besides those folk like lyrics are mostly based on real mythology while keep of kalessins lyrics are inspired by computer games and movies. There is a big difference there. And another thing that make those bands black metal are the MUSIC, open strings and a dark evil atmosphere. And ass for dimmu borgir I dont really consider them black metal anymore either

  • @heavytom89 Computer games and movies? No, try fantasy books. Which in turn receive inspiration from, that's right, old folk tales.

Open strings and a dark evil atmosphere? Not necessarily. You're very narrow minded, dude.

  • @JohnZackarias Yes computer games and movies said so themselfs. No I am not narrow minded a genre has some rules or else it would not be a genre at all. They should be happy that they are not just another black metal band

  • @heavytom89 No genre sounds the same year after year. Genres evolve and are constantly re-defined. Black metal is no exception.

  • @JohnZackarias Yeah but when they do evolve they more then often turn into their own sug- genres to seperate the differences. Black metal is a sub genre of other kinds of heavy metal to.why do you so desperatly label them as black metal???

  • @heavytom89 Because it IS black metal.

  • @JohnZackarias NO ITS NOT. deal with it

  • @heavytom89 Your only argument so far seems to be "No it isn't". Got anything better?

I don't think you really know what you're talking about.

  • @JohnZackarias I have given you many arguments to why this is not black metal and you know it. Your only argument to my previous comment is simply: this is black metal. So i guess your the one who dont know what he is talking about :)

  • @heavytom89 No, you provided arguments that I debunked and since then you've been saying "NO IT ISN'T DEAL WITH IT".

They've got the barre chords, the chord progressions, the guitar licks, the blast beats and the vocal style down. Easily comparable with Emperor and some Dark Funeral.

  • @JohnZackarias you had some really good and intelligent comments until you just wrote that this simply is black metal. And what else can i say than since i disagree: no its not?? Emperor is not really a pure black metal band either in my opinion, with the exception of there first to albums

  • @JohnZackarias Keep of Kalessin is actually Extreme Metal, which is a very close genre Black Metal, so It's not easy to hear the difference. I also thought that it was Black Metal before I wrote about the band as homework.

  • @znowman909 Homework? What are you, thirteen? Did you look it up on Wikipedia or something?

I'm not trying to be a dick but god damn it, man. Extreme metal isn't one specific spectrum of sounds that define a genre, it's a collective term to describe, for example, death and black metal.

All these variations of riffs and melodies can be found in early examples of Mayhem, Darkthrone, Immortal and other music as well. Music that most would consider being "true black metal". It's just sped up.

  • @znowman909 Dude, This is nothing like black metal. Extreme metal is the closest thing to DEATH metal ;)

  • @xBliiTzG4M3Rx This is just sped up, it totally fits in Black Metal scene, it has all the variations from Bathory to Immortal and/or from Venom to Darkthrone, just played at a faster pace, this is just one of those bands that widen the BM scene to make it a liable genre, there is no one thing that makes BM, and pleace Extreme metal isn't a genre it's just a collective term to describe bands from Death, Black, Gothenburg Metal and other that folk might feel "Extreme"ly heavy genres

  • @heavytom89

then where this style fits? dumb fuck

  • @adlerdefender in a genre which are not yet named, retard

  • @heavytom89

    then shut the fuck up

  • Actually Epic.

  • The best part is the lady saying "hoish!!" at the end : D she makes me laugh every time : ) (That sound, hoish or whatever, means the same as "phew!" or something in English)

  • Rybak has my respect from now on!

So proud that I'm from Norway..

Guess what, Black Metal and classic music ain't hard to combine, just look at Dimmu Borgir : )

  • @DrakoGigante Well, many say that metal is the classical music of the future, and I have to agree! I must admit, I generally don't listen to black metal, I usually listen to power metal or heavy metal, but this is one of those songs that just touches your heart! I still think that bands like Iron Maiden will be remembered longer then Keep of Kalessin, but then again, Mozart is more known then say Strauss (or anyone else then Beethoven I think), but they both made beautiful music.

  • @DrakoGigante Thats wrong. Keep of Kalessin isn't black metal band and Alexander Rybak isn't classical musician.

  • @dAziks Well it's simply all about what defines these genres.Keep of Kalessin has stated themselves to be Epic "BLACK" metal, which means they use elements of black metal in their songs, and alexander uses the violin a very common instrument to classical music and is also said to play classical/folk music. So isn't this a nice mix of the two?

  • @dAziks

Alexander Rybak is a classical musician . Take a look at watch?v=S7ZWVw3M8Qk or do a YT search for "Alexander Rybak, Winter, Vivaldi, Part one"

  • @dAziks Keep of Kalessin ain't BM no nore, true :)

Rybak is sellout, liked by everyone who is a hitbitch...

  • @DrakoGigante Dimmu Borgir plays Melodic Extreme metal, not Black metal ^^

  • @asad610 These days, yes ^^

  • These days, yes : )

  • And in this all our metal... Soon all'll be with spheres on stage.. an exellent =\

  • that's what I call headbanging!! :D

And Rybak is awesome! He is now a man!

  • BADASS!

  • I LOVE NORWAY!!! (evev if it's not my country...)

  • Metal - it's sophisticated, motherfuckers

  • holy shit :D this is awesome! what a beautifull combination! How is it possible? A extreme metal act on something totally commercial :D

  • holy shit :D this is awesome! what a beautifull combination!

  • It's amazing. Finally, Rybak was show his talant))

Hello to Norway from Ukraine. I like this country and it music.

  • brutal headbanging

  • Woooow...I never thought that Rybak will play metal since he said that metal is the furthest music genre for him...however he looks so powerful while playing it, and I definately think that this is best genre for him, because he can actually fully express his energy and show all his talent . He should keep on playing it :D

  • Awesome, metal should rule the world! I propose Dimmu Borgir and their orchestra for the next year's Eurovision!

  • @666MetalNeverDies666

In a recent interview by Metal storm Shagrath said they weren't interested in participating. Damn :p

  • 5:05 Did they even listened to the music?

  • trondheims stolthet

  • Great... Well, the band is queit good. The song sounds fucked up.. Why would anyone have a Violin!? It doens't sound good at all.. My Opption, my problem..

  • @Blackmetal8000 I love how you actually admit that its your opinion and therefore your problem. There should be more people like you on this world :D Stay true dude!

  • @wiegje Yeah.. If sounds fucked up. Metal and Violins doesn't sound very good in my ears. .. If you had take away that the sound would be better.

  • @Blackmetal8000 The violin is what makes it so great.

  • @oldhammie The sound is fucked up with that violin.. The song sounds even more fucked up, you can't hear the guitars, the drummer and you can't almost not hear the vocalist.

  • @Blackmetal8000 It was the violinist who had first choice of who he would play with and he choose Keep of Kalessin.

  • @Blackmetal8000 I just looked at your profile. "Black metal has no feelings" what the fuck is that supposed to mean?

  • Just imagine if Frost was still on Keep of Kalessin :D:D

  • @JirkaGasik Frost is awesome! :D

  • epic.epic.epic.

  • This epic video should be million views. Metal is not my favourite music style, but Rybak was perfect in this song !!! Greetings from South America

  • holy shit, this is fucking amazing never heard before of that violin guy but he's great and keep of kalessin is an awesome band, I wish in my coutry we had tv like this...

  • I'm proud of being Norwegian!

  • @znowman909

De har du fan all rätt å vara! Black metal är ju en av era största exportvaror! Jag bugar inför mitt grannland å all våldsam musik ni skänkt mig!!!!!

  • @znowman909 hvorfor det??????????? du er bare født her , eller er det du som står på scenen??

  • Simply LOVE this style-mix ... have a very mixed up music-tast by myselv and both Rybak and Metal are definately big faves for me.

  • This is wOnderful :)..! Super... They should have won the Eurovision Contest...

  • Thats what i call TV

  • I think it's playback at 2:44

  • @schliessmaskelkaeter i think its rather the bad channel mixing

  • @sergiudrummer I hope so too.

  • @GorgutzDM bands as bad as this make it seem that way

  • @GorgutzDM too close mind

  • rybak just gained my full respect! :D

  • Rybak kicks ass

  • bring blasts to the masses, and they will come.

  • This make me proud of beeing norwegian ! Fucking awesome ! \m/

  • The level of awesomeness is so high that the woman lost her breath in the end

  • the guitarists in the background are trying to blow rybak of stage with their headbanging : o

  • The violin makes a pretty good metal instrument actually :O

  • God this song is just beautiful. The chorus and the way he sings clearly in the intro... And of course, Rybak's amazing skills. He is truly the only pop artist that I respect this much.

  • More like extremevision

  • Comment removed

  • this is just so fuckin awesome!

  • this video defines "epic" ....holy shit this shit is THE shit! ;-)

  • Nydelig...

  • I want to have sex with this song.

  • Fy fan vad bra! Ett av Norges bästa black band och så talangfulla Rybak på det. Kanonbra mix. De borde plocka med honom på nästa turné.

  • What is so god damn funny is that I do belive most of the people there really hate metal... and then this happens xP I dont complain.. Pure metal fan :3 and Norwegian.. so watching Rybak doing this was like... -He became a man... finaly!!!-

  • i really like the lightning on rybak's shirt! :D

  • What a phenomenal combination - this is super, ain't it :-)..?!

  • En Noruega Keep of Kalessin y aquí en España el Chikilikuatre

Spain is different.....muy a mi pesar

  • @STNEIDERIN si, por suerte aqui no nos tomamos en serio esta farsa de "concurso"

  • Wtf is up with those Chinas? Can he even hit those from sitting there?

  • this is the weirdest concert looks like the mtv awards

  • Today alex has my respect. This is awesome. And to collaborate classical violinist and black metal band is not easy. Well done.

  • Today alex has my respect. This is awesome. And to collaborate classical ciolinist and black metal band is not easy. Well done.

  • О бог, ты мой. )

  • Y'know, this was pretty killer. I love it when Metal bands go outside the norm on some things, and this was pretty badass. Plus, they seemed to be enjoying themselves, so that's an added bonus. That was probably pretty fun for them to be able to step outside the normal boundaries and do something most people would never expect. It shows open-mindedness and a will to bend the rules. And that Alexander Rybak kid was pretty enthusiastic about it, so more power to 'em lol :D

  • I lolled at the ending xD

  • OISH!

  • the balloons look funny ;-)

  • HOLY FUCK! :O

  • When I saw Rybak first time(with his Fairytale) never would I though that he will once play a metal genre. Especially with the guys from Keep of Kallesin. It would be interesting to see him also with another norwegian hordes.

  • Alexander Rybak should do the whole tour with Keep of Kalessin.

Does anyone knows the names of the singers in the back choir???

    This is great!!

  • @TheDorifor They're called 'The Dragonchoir'. Pretty funny name, don't know the individual people's names

  • FuckYea \m/

  • Man, Norway television seems so great, if I see music like this gets mainstream broadcast time, as well as bands like Shining and Enslaved, that's the kind of music we need on television in Belgium!

  • you would think their head would hurt after whipping it back and forth.. (they were thinking I whip my hair back and forth?)

  • What a Shame....

  • @legendsteff0 Nobody gives a damn what you think anyway. Alexander shows that he has an open mind towards other kinds of genres, even so much as he collaborates with a metal band (a black metal band on that note). Now that is openmindedness! musicians and composers speak one language they play and compose what ever they want. shame on those who judge their taste in music and shame on those musicians who give a fuck to people like u & force them selves to stick to something just because of you

  • @SHAWNGALEADROCK In the future, if you're going to copy something that someone else wrote then please make a shout out or quote to that person.

  • It's a pleasure to see music like this set in scene with such high production value. The live choir and all really does it good. Please more of this in Eurovision!

  • Respect to Alexander Rybak, sometimes random musicians or singers get thrown in with a metal band even though they may not be fans of the music but Alexander genuinely looks comfortable on the stage with them and rocking out.

  • Amazing band. Norwegian black metal rules. You should also check out a band called Subliritum featuring some of the guys from Keep of Kalessin

  • Keep of kalessin was in my home town.

Me and about 15 more were there.

    U jelly? :7

  • I want Eurovision to be something like this. It definitely would be worth watching!

  • just amazing that this muzing is acceptet in mainstream (norway) I mean should be played in every country

  • melodic black metal and why not... i am so amazed and i like it... well done

  • OU YEAH! GREETINGS FROM SERBIA !

  • Whats with all the bashing of this track. I really like it. It's got awesome blast beats, great vocals, and violins etc. Why is it faggot metal etc? Violins and fiddles and harmonic vocals have been used in underground metal for years. This isn't like it's the first time underground metal has been seen over ground. And if this alexandra guy enjoyed himself working with the band then great, good on him and good on KOK..it's still a good atmospheric track!!

  • Хорошо у них получилось. )))

  • tr00 norwegian mascara metal

  • This is hell of a remarkable, especially keeping in mind that violin is an absolute ass to play.

  • alexandar should be more louder

    i can't hear him well

  • I love Alexander!

  • I met these guys last friday and got to hang out with them after their show in Atlanta Georgia. They are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Really made my night :)

And they played an amazing show as well :)

  • @CollapseGenTV I was there also!! Best band there in my opinion!

  • @bunyiprowper absolutely the best band there! No one else even came close

  • brutal and beautifull

  • я в шоке=) круто прям офигенно=*

  • so powerful!!!!!!

  • Нифига себе! Круто!

  • soo nice ryback

  • 5:07 Hoosh! xD

  • It makes me really happy to see how a norwegian blackmetal-band can reach a huge audience through ESC. Nice performance, even how they fittet Rybaks solo in there. For my taste it could have been a bit more nifty, but it's nice and well done anyways.

  • Interesting! Cool indeed, I suspect playback but still killer performance and fun.

  • Most of Pop artists in the World barely can play an instrument, So they can't make a good Intrumental colaboration with a metal band, Think about it next time you complaint about Rybak...

    Awesome Performance ...Fuck Haters .|.

  • @warheartvik Agree with you there 100%. This was awesome indeed!

  • i dont care what anyone thinks. this is fucking beautiful and awesome!

  • @BOBSAGGETASS i totally agree!!!! this was a HOT performence!!!!

  • majestically played.

  • hah faggot metal

  • It's a sucky production as usual with NRK, you don't get the true sound it would be.

  • what pure epicness

i think i suddenly have forgiven alexander for the 2 months with the same song on the radio O_O

  • HAIL THIS DAMNED BAND!!!!!, great work of the kid, if he likes metal, he'll do great masterpieces in it!!!

  • @promenot let me guess why, bacuse your spandex pants can't keep your fat ass in??? metal will never be gay, unless you think that emo is metal, metal isn't look, is attitude you sissy...
