  • I see wide spread future applications for his technology for monitoring the elderly as well as transplant and heart patients. They could interface this via cell signals directly to ambulance services and save untold lives.

    Yeah, my smart phone has an accelerometer on it already. UA is doing a good job of selling this as another "gotta have it" item. Good for them, not needed for the average consumer.

  • @kurtcorris G-Force calculation comes from acceleration. Basically, Under Armour is recording your speed from one point to another. You get acceleration than divide it by gravity = 9.8 m/s^2 which will tell you your force production.  It just sounds sexier than acceleration I guess. What gets me is how they can calculate the athlete's true G-force without taking friction into consideration? I can see wind resistance calculated but what if the athlete is running on a different surface?
