Poor Stringer. As smar as he thought he was, he just never got it. You can't reform the drug game. His whole attitude of "running this shit like a business" was a pipe dream. Was never going to happen. His concept of a better product works in a legal business, but in the dope game? Your rep means just as much as your business acumen. Just how it is. You have to be willing to go to war at times, don't matter how good your product is.
I don't know, I think the drug game would've been more successful for a longer amount of time if Stringer tried harder to reason with Avon, rather than trying to off Mouzone.
i love how you can rewatch scenes from a show like this and notice something new every time, like how between 1:30 and 1:40 bodie's nodding while poot's glances at the older guy to the side, and how it's after seeing him slightly shaking his head at what stringer's saying that poot gets bold enough to stand up and say the 'punk ass bithces' line.
Stringer was such a deep character. Gang banging? Selling drugs? Just a means to an end for that man. You can't do illegal shit forever, and that's real talk. Illegal shit has an expiration date, and the longer you do it? The better your chances of getting caught. The reason he didn't want all the killing was because it brought attention from the police and the police have the power to shut the whole organisation down, even the 'legitimate' parts.
Funny how stringer ended up getting knocked by the property people just shows you those higher business people are more fucked up than the hustlers on the streets!

Anyways, yes your right, for the most part. Avon wasn't THAT great of a business man, because if he was he wouldn't need Stringer. The problem with Avon was that he was a true warrior till the end. Avon loved what Stringer called "Gansta Bullshit" and it was that need to fill that bottomless, bloodthirsty, void that sent Avon away to Jessup.

The ghetto doesn't mean shit, and the people operate like fucking animals because they don't have anything. In a legitimate context, he probably would have been enormously successful.
