its not autotuned people can sound like this listen to emillie autumn she sounds like a violin. people who say its been auto tuned have no idea how autotuning works or when its being used. Music videos and cd vesions are autotuned to fix cracks and breaks in the voice and eliminate noise. its clean up like photoshop but for sound. and this is a live preformance you can't autotune something thats happening at once, you have to do it after the fact.

Yes, it can be used live, in the effects panel you can add auto-tune, it is like any other effect, reverb, delay, etc. Auto-tune is used to fix the singer when he/she is out of key and not on tune, a crack cannot be fixed with auto-tune and it cannot eliminate noise either.

I have been in the music industry for nearly 30 years and I can assure you this performance was live with no gimmicks or voice enhancement at all whatsover. If you want to believe that this was autotuned then so be it.
@juniedai I don't mean to be rude, but I still don't see how my musical naivety makes a difference in this case. I actually play the violin and piano and have a pretty good ear, while i don't claim to be perfect. However, i really do think that something was done to Florence's mic to make a sort of wavy sound. I still think that you should watch any other love performance of this song and compare it back to this. I'm sure you'll see a huge difference if you do.

I actually think there was an accident with the sound or anything, as this is the first time I've heard her perfom Cosmic Love like this. I think we all agree, that she doesn't need any autotuning, echoing or whatever, as it doesn't give enough credit to her beautiful voice.

Why do all these people who have no studio expertise or the ability to recognize notes think they can pin-point an auto tuned performance? Does anyone every consider she just has great vocal technique and breath control along with someone mixing the sound who knows what they are doing.

I think Florence is amazing, and I love her live, but this version does sound a little auto-tuned which is weird since she isn't one to use it, nor does she need it, so I only think its an accident of some kind.

why do people have so many misconceptions of autotune? artists use it to get different sounds and tones that would otherwise be unachievable, and for good reason too, it sounds good to the ears and that's all that matters. music isn't a competition, people boast themselves on who they think are talented artists when they are all there for the same reason which is to create art out of sound.
Autotune is used for short and specific songs. Not to take a long jump and alternating tones. I think there certainly was a mistake. The microphone was set to Auto-tune .. FAIL .. Florence does not need auto-tune .. OMG on 3:09 her voice combined with Auto-tune effect and it sounds terrible.
She's stuck to one key. Bro it's definitely autotuned. In the original version, I could hear her voice moving everywhere up and down (in a good way), but now it's like limited

I KNOW how amazing she is live...but this is totally autotuned. You hear when she goes on the runs and it corrects it even though there's nothing TO be corrected? Its horrid. I think Florence is amazing, and I love her live, but this version does sound a little auto-tuned which is weird since she isn't one to use it, nor does she need it, so I only think its an accident of some kind.

@1998Ramo You can autotune a live mic. There's video on youtube of Ellen DeGeneres doing the same thing on her show, for example.

It is auto tuned. You can hear the robotic sound when she holds out notes. She's still one of the best singers. With or without auto tune.

why do people have so many misconceptions of autotune? artists use it to get different sounds and tones that would otherwise be unachievable, and for good reason too, it sounds good to the ears and that's all that matters. music isn't a competition, people boast themselves on who they think are talented artists when they are all there for the same reason which is to create art out of sound.

Autotune is used for short and specific songs. Not to take a long jump and alternating tones. I think there certainly was a mistake. The microphone was set to Auto-tune .. FAIL .. Florence does not need auto-tune .. OMG on 3:09 her voice combined with Auto-tune effect and it sounds terrible.

@lyssiana I absolutely adore Florence and she is one of my very favorite artists in the world. I saw her live, and it was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. I KNOW how amazing she is live...but this is totally autotuned. You hear when she goes on the runs and it corrects it even though there's nothing TO be corrected? Its horrid. What blows my mind is why she has autotune here! She's an incredible talent...*sigh*. It makes me sad inside.

HOW DARE YOU AUTOTUNE SUCH A GLORIOUS VOICE! whoever did this should be arrested. for ONCE, in this new age we live in, an artist arises who shows natural, god given talent, without a need for computers and technology to fuck up her voice, and they go ahead and fuck with it anyway.
