In a way, I'm kind of glad L died when he did. Don't get me wrong, he was my favorite character of all time, but he was about to write in the Death Note when he died. It would have brought him to Kira's level in a way for one thing, killing someone to erase your problems. Plus, he wouldn't have been able to go to heaven.

@NinjaMasuyo L was going to write the name of a criminal who would have undoubtedly been executed or killed (you would know if you paid attention to that specific episode). In doing so he would be risking his OWN life, by waiting 13 days to see what happens. What he did was risk his life to uncover kira's identity and prevent further deaths of INNOCENT people. L isn't at kira's level.

@B3RZERK94 In the anime episode, he was going to get a criminal to kill another criminal that would have been executed anyways. In this rewrite, he's going to write the name down himself. Anyways, even if he was planning on risking his own life, he was going to experiment with a human life. The police had thought that Kira was despicable in experimenting with people's lives, even if Kira was going to kill them anyways. In THEIR eyes he would have been at Kira's level.
