WOW. So much DA2 hate. I fucking loved that game, much more than DA:O. I can see why some people would not like it as much, but it was still a really solid game. Like SO MUCH was changed for the better in it. And if they go back to DA:O for DA3 then I personally think that would suck.
i personally didn't like da2 to begin with but after a while i got into it and love it. Okay so maybe its not as good as da1, but its still pretty good.
I think DA2 was better then DAO in some points, although DAO was ultimantly a better game. DA2 had better combat, Better Voice Acting (not too big), Way Better Graphics - cant really count that though cause its a given, but the main change i liked was the story, and the multiple endings.

No race to pick means less storylines which means no fun in it. The replay value is poor in DA2 becuse your playing the same shit over and over. While DA2 you can start a new game with different races which make it a new experience. DA2 was no doubt a game built for money vaule only. While DAO took four years to built.
and why i can speak with companion only when i have something to give to them or do some quest for them... so lots of bad things but there is still good things i must say like day and night i like that much ( killing gangs in night i like the most :D ) all companions have special tree skill ( nice change ) and there are lot things conected with DAO ( nice work ) i hope if not in DA3 at least in DA4 to make all ex main characters ( warden, hawke etc. ) to be companions :D ( like importing story )
i just say that DA2 is far better in combat system and graphic but lack of story ( in story there are mod bad than good things ) like missing race picking i miss elf and dwarf story why couldnt they make surface dwarf merchant runing away with his family or dalish elf running from forest because of darkspawn, and there is big change in sten character ( sten is the title not the name ) so why is sten in DAO so differ then stens in DA2 adn why i cant switch to different location from map but exit.

Okay I know I'm risking someone trying to rip my face off for saying this, but it depends on the point of view you take for DA2. Yes compared to DAO it was lacking in personalizing it, and in my own personal opinion, some parts of the story felt a little rushed, but if you don't strictly compare it to DAO then it was actualy pretty good, not to say that some character interactions couldn't use a little work, but in over all it was interesting. And as said it's a lead up to 3, pretty much.
DA2 is a joke.....! after playing DAO you have standards, then DA2 came along and ruined it. they took away everying in DA2 no Character Camp were you get to talk to everyone and listern to there storys. No choosing your race and background. No customizing your party memebers. No warden. Hardly any Darkspawn. No good soundtracks. Please dont make DA3 anything like DA2. and dont EVER make us have to listern to the story being told by someone! you just guessed everything that was happening!

@bulteel19 DA2 was good in its way. You could still visit characters in their homes and such. there were no darkspawn due to they werent part of the story in DA2. Also, I think they made DA2 as a introduction to a big event for the third dragon age. the war between templars and mages and the qunari invasion. They mentioned portion of the mage-templar conflict and qunari invasion in DAO. in DA2 they were introdouced for real.
its about the age as a whole, not just focusing on the blight conflict. We were introdouced to several other conflicts and future events in the first game such as the tension between mages and the chantry. Sten mentioned the qunari would invade Ferelden in the future. Not to mention darkspawn only invade the surface during blights making them a smaller part now.
@bulteel19 DA2 was unique in it's own way. I didn't feel the atmosphere like DAO, but DA2 has it's own feelings. I sort of like the DA2 atmosphere more, but that's my opinion.
@bulteel19 I, for one, liked Dragon Age 2. And don't say I'm some stupid kid- I have Origins as well and finished it. There were some parts where it might have been lacking, sure, but there are also some very good points; Fighting is quicker and faster. Things are faster. With some places, I'm glad they made them a bit differently; I hated the Deep Roads in Origins because of many reasons but in DA2 it was better- for me. Either way, I just don't like it when people bash DA2 ruthlessly.

But lots of people like different things. i just hated the same maps and had no connection with my charecter or the others. Hawke was pretty shit, pompus vocie and stook in kirkwall pretty much all the time... i could go on all day. but its nice to see your sticking up for a game you enjoyed. you have my respect for that.

It was a little annoying that you couldn't travel- I will give you that- and the same maps, too, but I did enjoy the gameplay. Not to mention the little conversations and banter between the characters. Suppose we all have different feelings toward Hawke. I liked Origins and I loved Dragon Age 2. They were both really great games. At least in DA2, your character had a voice and your decisions effected future events. That's a plus, as well.

@Atzells In your opinion, at least. I'm not /saying/ that DA2 is better than Origins in every single way, but there were some things that improved. Combat, for one, where it was much faster and had cooler animations. Hawke- at the least- had a voice and ability mapping. DA2 is a good game; I've played Origins so I have something to compare it to F.Y.I.
So yeah. I love Bioware as well and they did a good job with Dragon Age 2. Some things were lacking, yes, but it was good.

I loved the way that you could combine spells in DAO, like, throw that oil spell on the ground to make enemies fall, and then do a fire spell to set it on fire. LOVED IT, sadly I think spell combinations got removed in DA2 :(
Origins was better, but DA2 is still a good game. Most people didnt even give it a chance. If you go into a game wanting to dislike it surprise! your going to dislike it.
@cologey i agree, people didnt like DA 2 because it wasnt as "flexible" as DA origins. it was good but the majority of people didnt like how it took place in one city but the point of the game wasnt to be as adventerous as DA origins as you can tell from the end of the game i think they were purely setting up for the story in DA 3 which is gonna be kick ass

All Bioware needs is time. Origins was announced in 2004 and didn't release until 2009. It had 5 years of development time, so obviously Origins would be better. Dragon Age II was announced in mid-2010 and released in March 2011. It barely got a year of development time. As long as Bioware doesn't rush out Dragon Age 3 like they did 2, Dragon Age 3 will be great!
i wish that in DA3 they have more story each character like the first but with a epic fight in the first 3 hours like the first game. and great story like the first one too.
@ProjectDecade Erm... There is a lot of confusion with the dialogue in all honesty. There are so many problems with it. I like saying EXACTLY what I want to say, like in Origins. There are a ton of misunderstandings that I've had because I interpret things differently and thus loss of approval. But I do think that Dragon Age 2 is more personal with your companions. They visit you-you visit them. Also, in Origins there were times I would say things and expect approval/disapproval and get nothing.
Dragon Age 2 wasn't that bad. Bioware was experimenting. I did feel like I was mashing buttons a bit and the new format made it feel less like a traditional RPG. It looked too modern. Dragon Age 2 brought newer things to consider. I think Bioware should take more time with Dragon Age 3. I like the moves in Dragon Age 2 more, but I like the slower paced feeling of Origins. Though... I did like kiting around the field in 2. Too many times did I die from an enemy with a sword 20 feet away...
The game's not *that* bad. I'd actually recommend it; it's still better than the majority of games out there. It's just that the environments get a bit repetitive and a few things have been simplified (no grades in potions, no salves or balms, no companion customisation), but that doesn't make it a bad game.
Bring back conversation options from DAO but keep having a voice.
Not Recycled environments. New unique, individual environments.
The characters from DAO (Hero of fereldon, Morrigan, king allister, orghen, puppy and your son) being involved with DA2 characters to face the rebelled mages and templars.(Theyve all gone missing so it could work)
Not clammy repetitive spammy controls for consoles.
And co-op maybe?
This could be one of the greatest games evar if Bioware listens to us.

@Hobo101xxx Time progression was not good in Dragon Age 2.A couple of short dialogue options between time periods was insulting.And the combat was not awesome it was easy and looked more like final fantasy than Dragon Age.Note it was also easier and wave combat was laughable.And the visuals were average at best go look at The Witcher 2 to see a game really utilise PC hardware.
@nash3timemvp first i played on the xbox so the combat was amazing it was more like hack and slash which i love. by time progression i meant you could almost feel the change in years, by the end of the game i was like the only thing left to do is conquer the world. Once again on the xbox the graphic where way above standard so to me the graphics were pretty just a little glitchy

guys, i just finished dragon age 2 and what can i say: great game, my favorite character was merrill, so shy and fragile. i can`t wait for dragon age 3 although i know it will take years until it will be released. i just love the story and the conversations. the hanged man looks like the perfect nightclub. i hope hawke, merrill and varric will be present in dragon age 3 too.

@thelawley1 Are u playing on pc or another platform? the only way i know how to equip skills and such is on the xbox360. i just think they got lazy with DA2. it just seemed they wanted a quick buck so they did it quickly. they need to fix it sooooo much in the 3rd installment if they want me to buy it. i loved origins because of how many different races you could be. hopefully they will listen to the fans and make it a lot better than the first one and second one combined.

@Blellowdb they are completely to blame, Mass Effect 2 I didn't mind what they did, I actually prefered some elements but with DA2 they've just completely destroyed the RPG feel, most of the game is set in one city. They've completely stripped the menus of all RPG feel, I mean you can't even equip armor on your party members which is terrible, I don't know why they did that. So screw casual gamers make RPGs for RPG fans not casual COD players and whoever else.
It's weird, Bioware seems to be scaling back the RPG element in their RPG games (Mass Effect, Dragon Age). I fail to see how this improves it, but casual gamers are likely to blame.
For DA3 make darkspawn look like the darkspawn in DAO again and have more darkspawn in the storyline so it feels like DAO because DA2 did not feel like DAO and that why DA2 sucked
@semarshall3129 in DA2 you can switch auto attack on and off you know... and just to let you know auto attack is abosolutely the most boring thing ever in a game all you do is watch your character hit stuff, and you dont even do anything but hit a few buttons for some talent/skill attacks here and there...
@theNEWMASKSdudexxx I agree completely with all of that. One other thing I'd like to see them try to implement is some kind of multiplayer system. I love this series, love talking with my friends about the different choices and story paths and such. It would be even better if we could actually play it together!

The combat was tactical, you know for rpg fans, not casual majority shits like you. And in Origins it took about a good 5-6 swings with your sword to kill anything between say a howe solider to a genlock assassin (if your weapon is good enough tier). The companions wine because they have their own perspective on the players actions, since you're not a people person-
@LemonAssassin -you probably made all of the decisions that hardly any of your companions agreed with. In Origins, you were in all of Ferelden, not just one fucking city and one mountain or one coast line, or one part of the deep roads. As for companion armors, the only one that was any good was Merrils, and you could only change them if you romance them or do a certain quest for them.

If the companions in origins had no different opinions, why do they have an approval/disapproval meter? And why do those meters change whenever you take certain actions? You say origins tactics were laughable? I'd say DA2's was simpler, hell you'd just sit there and spam the A/X button continuously, but then again that's what casual gamers love.
Add to that, Origins was developed in 5 years, DA2 was developed in under a year.

Okay I know I'm risking someone trying to rip my face off for saying this, but it depends on the point of view you take for DA2. Yes compared to DAO it was lacking in personalizing it, and in my own personal opinion, some parts of the story felt a little rushed, but if you don't strictly compare it to DAO then it was actualy pretty good, not to say that some character interactions couldn't use a little work, but in over all it was interesting. And as said it's a lead up to 3, pretty much.

DA2 is a joke.....! after playing DAO you have standards, then DA2 came along and ruined it. they took away everying in DA2 no Character Camp were you get to talk to everyone and listern to there storys. No choosing your race and background. No customizing your party memebers. No warden. Hardly any Darkspawn. No good soundtracks. Please dont make DA3 anything like DA2. and dont EVER make us have to listern to the story being told by someone! you just guessed everything that was happening!

@bulteel19 DA2 was good in its way. You could still visit characters in their homes and such. there were no darkspawn due to they werent part of the story in DA2. Also, I think they made DA2 as a introduction to a big event for the third dragon age. the war between templars and mages and the qunari invasion. They mentioned portion of the mage-templar conflict and qunari invasion in DAO. in DA2 they were introdouced for real.

@CerberusGX the game is called "dragon AGE"
its about the age as a whole, not just focusing on the blight conflict. We were introdouced to several other conflicts and future events in the first game such as the tension between mages and the chantry. Sten mentioned the qunari would invade Ferelden in the future. Not to mention darkspawn only invade the surface during blights making them a smaller part now.

@bulteel19 DA2 was unique in it's own way. I didn't feel the atmosphere like DAO, but DA2 has it's own feelings. I sort of like the DA2 atmosphere more, but that's my opinion.

@bulteel19 I, for one, liked Dragon Age 2. And don't say I'm some stupid kid- I have Origins as well and finished it. There were some parts where it might have been lacking, sure, but there are also some very good points; Fighting is quicker and faster. Things are faster. With some places, I'm glad they made them a bit differently; I hated the Deep Roads in Origins because of many reasons but in DA2 it was better- for me. Either way, I just don't like it when people bash DA2 ruthlessly.

@SherlockXWatson Thats fine if you liked DA2. for most people it was a big let down. i fail to see how people think DA2 was better than Origins. But lots of people like different things. i just hated the same maps and had no connection with my charecter or the others. Hawke was pretty shit, pompus vocie and stook in kirkwall pretty much all the time... i could go on all day. but its nice to see your sticking up for a game you enjoyed. you have my respect for that.

It was a little annoying that you couldn't travel- I will give you that- and the same maps, too, but I did enjoy the gameplay. Not to mention the little conversations and banter between the characters. Suppose we all have different feelings toward Hawke. I get emotionally connected to all the characters I make, no matter how derpish they can be. And thank you. Nice to know people are still respectful on here. c:

I liked Origins and I loved Dragon Age 2. They were both really great games. At least in DA2, your character had a voice and your decisions effected future events. That's a plus, as well.

@Atzells In your opinion, at least. I'm not /saying/ that DA2 is better than Origins in every single way, but there were some things that improved. Combat, for one, where it was much faster and had cooler animations. Hawke- at the least- had a voice and ability mapping. DA2 is a good game; I've played Origins so I have something to compare it to F.Y.I.
So yeah. I love Bioware as well and they did a good job with Dragon Age 2. Some things were lacking, yes, but it was good.

I loved the way that you could combine spells in DAO, like, throw that oil spell on the ground to make enemies fall, and then do a fire spell to set it on fire. LOVED IT, sadly I think spell combinations got removed in DA2 :(

All Bioware needs is time. Origins was announced in 2004 and didn't release until 2009. It had 5 years of development time, so obviously Origins would be better. Dragon Age II was announced in mid-2010 and released in March 2011. It barely got a year of development time. As long as Bioware doesn't rush out Dragon Age 3 like they did 2, Dragon Age 3 will be great!

@ProjectDecade Erm... There is a lot of confusion with the dialogue in all honesty. There are so many problems with it. I like saying EXACTLY what I want to say, like in Origins. There are a ton of misunderstandings that I've had because I interpret things differently and thus loss of approval. But I do think that Dragon Age 2 is more personal with your companions. They visit you-you visit them. Also, in Origins there were times I would say things and expect approval/disapproval and get nothing.

Dragon Age 2 wasn't that bad. Bioware was experimenting. I did feel like I was mashing buttons a bit and the new format made it feel less like a traditional RPG. It looked too modern. Dragon Age 2 brought newer things to consider. I think Bioware should take more time with Dragon Age 3. I like the moves in Dragon Age 2 more, but I like the slower paced feeling of Origins. Though... I did like kiting around the field in 2. Too many times did I die from an enemy with a sword 20 feet away...

The game's not *that* bad. I'd actually recommend it; it's still better than the majority of games out there. It's just that the environments get a bit repetitive and a few things have been simplified (no grades in potions, no salves or balms, no companion customisation), but that doesn't make it a bad game.

DA3 Wish List:
Bring back conversation options from DAO but keep having a voice.
Not Recycled environments. New unique, individual environments.
The characters from DAO (Hero of fereldon, Morrigan, king allister, orghen, puppy and your son) being involved with DA2 characters to face the rebelled mages and templars.(Theyve all gone missing so it could work)
Not clammy repetitive spammy controls for consoles.
And co-op maybe?
This could be one of the greatest games evar if Bioware listens to us.

What dragon age 2 did right:
1. the combat was awesome
2. the story being told by Varric was cool
3. the graphics were nice (glitched every now and then)
4. time progression was awesome
What dragon age 2 didn't do right
1. not multi-racial
2. inability to give armor to your companions
3. Story didn't really follow a line (you could start one mission where someone was gonna die in ten minutes and u go do 3 different quest then come back and save them)
4. the reuse of areas over and over.

@Hobo101xxx Time progression was not good in Dragon Age 2.A couple of short dialogue options between time periods was insulting.And the combat was not awesome it was easy and looked more like final fantasy than Dragon Age.Note it was also easier and wave combat was laughable.And the visuals were average at best go look at The Witcher 2 to see a game really utilise PC hardware.

@nash3timemvp first i played on the xbox so the combat was amazing it was more like hack and slash which i love. by time progression i meant you could almost feel the change in years, by the end of the game i was like the only thing left to do is conquer the world. Once again on the xbox the graphic where way above standard so to me the graphics were pretty just a little glitchy

My Dragon Age 3 needs:
1. all races including DA2 Qunari's
2. DA2s combat slowed down
3. DAO customization and equipting.
4. DAO graphics slightly improved with DA2 character movements (DA2 darkspawn looked gay, Qunari's looked cool though)
5. DAO quality storytelling with DA2s cut scenes look and feel to it

guys, i just finished dragon age 2 and what can i say: great game, my favorite character was merrill, so shy and fragile. i can`t wait for dragon age 3 although i know it will take years until it will be released. i just love the story and the conversations. the hanged man looks like the perfect nightclub. i hope hawke, merrill and varric will be present in dragon age 3 too.

@thelawley1 Are u playing on pc or another platform? the only way i know how to equip skills and such is on the xbox360. i just think they got lazy with DA2. it just seemed they wanted a quick buck so they did it quickly. they need to fix it sooooo much in the 3rd installment if they want me to buy it. i loved origins because of how many different races you could be. hopefully they will listen to the fans and make it a lot better than the first one and second one combined.

@Blellowdb they are completely to blame, Mass Effect 2 I didn't mind what they did, I actually prefered some elements but with DA2 they've just completely destroyed the RPG feel, most of the game is set in one city. They've completely stripped the menus of all RPG feel, I mean you can't even equip armor on your party members which is terrible, I don't know why they did that. So screw casual gamers make RPGs for RPG fans not casual COD players and whoever else.

1. more playable races and more origins.
2. DA2's combat but slowed down.
3. DAO's squad mechanics (like giving them armor)
4. DA2's conversation. (But be more original this time instead of ripping from ME)
5. Better story, DA2's sucked.
6. NO ACTS! God, that is what pissed me off more than anything. Just let it be one great big adventure like origins.
7. Litttle more effort in locations and dungeons. Not just recycled areas.

@LemonAssassin No actually I didn't. You must not have played origins, because the origins had a really big impact on the story. The combat was tactical, you know for rpg fans, not casual majority shits like you. And in Origins it took about a good 5-6 swings with your sword to kill anything between say a howe solider to a genlock assassin (if your weapon is good enough tier). The companions wine because they have their own perspective on the players actions, since you're not a people person-

@LemonAssassin -you probably made all of the decisions that hardly any of your companions agreed with. In Origins, you were in all of Ferelden, not just one fucking city and one mountain or one coast line, or one part of the deep roads. As for companion armors, the only one that was any good was Merrils, and you could only change them if you romance them or do a certain quest for them.
Just go back to playing CoD or DA2 idiot. Leave the real gamers alone.

DA2 is a story, people just say it's bad cuz their mad. In DAO, the friends had nothing to do with the story, save for Morrigan or Alistair.

If the companions in origins had no different opinions, why do they have an approval/disapproval meter? And why do those meters change whenever you take certain actions? You say origins tactics were laughable? I'd say DA2's was simpler, hell you'd just sit there and spam the A/X button continuously, but then again that's what casual gamers love.
Add to that, Origins was developed in 5 years, DA2 was developed in under a year.

I own origins and beat it twice. 1, the meter was meaningless, i romanced Morrigan the first time i was in her camo, yes, thats right! right after the death of king calin war thing, i had sex with Morrigan straight away, as i am a people person :) and plus, like i said and what you didnt argue DA2 had more of a unigue story.

How did you have sex with morrigan right after the battle of ostagar? You have to complete her quest before you can fully do anything to her. I romanced her, lelianna, and even had the threesome with isabella.

to be honest, i think you havent beated dragon age origins. or at least you suck at it. me, on the other hand, ruled. the game was so easy, even on nightmare, it was boring the 2nd time.

I just hope I can play with my Warden Commander Paragon again, DA2 story was a SERIOUS letdown, gameplay was nice, DA1 story was AWESOME, but gameplay was a bit less cool imo
