Whether you're a starter or not means nothing. Look at Manu Ginobili, he was top 5 SG in the league when he got the 6th man award.

Artest has horrible offense? He can easily average 20 points. Elton Brand has averaged roughly the same amount of points and Ron Artest has each year, varying from about 16 to 24. Brand's been injured for the past 2 seasons at least, he's far less affective than either of them right now.

umm... what artest are you watching? i am a big ron fan but trust me on this. he can not "easily" as you say avg 20ppg. he is consistent at times but he can jack up shots like there is no tomorrow. he also goes on droughts sometimes yet can still jack 20 shots up and miss on those droughts. i'd say that he can avg 20 but thats on a crap team. he is more of a 15-17ppg guy that does everything else. his defense needs some sharpening though his foot speed is getting slower. still one of my favs tho

Look at his year by year PPG then look at Brand's. They're pretty much the same...

again, you can't compare those numbers. sixers did not fit at all with brand. brand was also not 100% as some think he was still injured to a point. they could not completely immerse him into the offense. brand would have avg 20+ppg by the end of the season if that had happened. ron had the whole year, most without tracy mcgrady to establish himself. even with mac out he avg 17ppg. yes he is very unselfish but he isn't th guy that can easily get 20 per game.thats all im sayin.

I said year-by-year, Brand has never averaged much more than Artest. How does that make Artest's offense "terrible"? He's a much better defender and there isn't much difference in their offense.

again, i never said artest's offense was terrible. nowhere did i say that. but lets be real here. brand is a PF and artest is a SF so offense i believe would be easier for a guy that is closer to the rim. but again, artest is not a scorer. teams do not get him for his scoring ability. they get him for the intangibles. artest is a 15-17ppg scorer on a good team and a 20+ppg scorer on a bad one. if you would bet me who would score 20 a game i would say brand because he is a great low post guy.

artest is a great player and i will always be a fan of his which is why i know he can not easily score 20 a game. his percentages are good because he shoots only when needed. when he forces things is when he starts to miss. you can look at the portland and lakers series and season games to see what i am saying. when he forced it the rockets usually lost. when he stayed within his 17ppg, 5rebs self he helped the team. 20ppg is not artest. not anymore anyways.

Okay so I can't use Elton Brand's Sixers stats because he was injured. I can't use his Clippers stats because he was on a bad team. What do you have to say about him? All you've done is talked about how Ron Artest is worse but how much you love him anyway. Brand hasn't averaged 20+ on a good team before in his career.

by the way, in most of the years artest had the same ppg as brand either because brand was injured or artest was on a crappy team... i like artest's game a lot as i am a huge fan. but 20ppg espec. easily is not him. he is very unselfish and on the lakers he will pick his spots more than he did with any team since they have a lot of talent. i say this year he avg 13-15ppg but does a lot more for the team.
