hey i have a windows vista and when i play games and when it lags it lags like every minute but only for like 5-10 seconds.. but still bothers me so much and irritates my gameplay.. is it my computer? my graphics card? what effects the lag? i know its not my connection cause when im on internet it doesnt lag but it lags the same when i play games when i watch live streams. PLEASE HELP! :(

@Freezyfy a common cause of this is something that you have running in the background; whether it's an anti-virus or windows defender or any number of things... and this background program pings its own server once a minute, which causes your lag spike. try ending the majority of your programs/processes on a 1-by-1 basis and see if you can determine the cause. it could also be because you haven't restarted in a while; if you leave your computer on for days/weeks/months, try a reboot.

@racerx007666 no it's not... not for single-player flash games, which is mostly what i'm talking about. flash games are downloaded to your computer, at which point you can play them 100% offline; internet doesn't play any factor in running/playing a game, and has 0 effect on lag. It's ALL about the power/performance of your cpu, vid card, etc.

hey, ive done alot of these things for Left 4 Dead.

The lag started after the new Crash Course patch, i set every thing to low or disabled and i still get 200 ping on single player offline.

I notice, when playing super stacker 2, that I get appear to get quite a bit of lag, and the shapes don't seem to appear.

Am I just not jedi enough to click in the right places at the right times, or is there anything (not mentioned above) particular to this game that will help?

And yeah, I know it's kind of pathetic that a game like that lags. =/

the trick to SS2 is that you can't click to drop a shape while inside another shape. your mouse has to be in fresh air. knowing that trick should help you a ton. :)

no, i didn't... sorry. i know nothing about multiplayer games on consoles. i'm a flash game guy, and i talk about what i know. my guess is that since consoles are the same, the only thing that affects lag is your connection (and that of the players you're playing with)... better/faster connection, less lag.

Blaze, I find that playing Kong games on a laptop (plus Internet Explorer) REALLY screws with the arrow keys. If you are on IE, try FireFox, as it does things quite differently.

sounds like an issue between your keyboard and CPU... especially if you've already ruled out the keyboard as the cause. that would make it a hardware issue, and not a lag issue. i'm not familiar at all with troubleshooting this kind of issue. sorry man.

well, an emulator is an exe on your computer, not browser based. so the main factor in lag is your processor speed and video card. there really aren't any tips to help; if you have an old computer, you'll have a better chance of lagging. only way to fix that is to upgrade to better parts or get a new machine.

theres a good program called game booster and it temp. closes your stuff, and defrags aswell. its pretty cool.

i assume you mean when playing online MP? that is going to be based almost exclusively off your internet connection. improve your connection, reduce your lag.

well, your ping is going to be based off your internet connection... since it has to do with the quickness in sending/receiving data back and forth between your modem and the servers. so, the obvious answer is to get a faster internet connection.

well, minions is a pretty intensive multiplayer game. MP games are going to be more laggy, because you're constantly sending and receiving data between a server for you AND all your opponents/teammates. the only other piece of advice i could add, beyond what is in the video, is to try only playing small matches... 1v1, 2v2. the more people you play with at once, the more likely you are to lag.

why would revenue matter at all to me? from my experience, and from the experiences of many others i know, flash runs better in IE than other browsers. so if you experience issues in other browsers, try running the games in IE. it is not a guaranteed fix... but it might help.

Dya know how to disable banner ads? They really 'cause lag, specially the ones made my insane Internet nerds on crack.. They make games lag and it's really bad for games such as that game you hate with a burning passion, FFR (XD)

Hey, here's another tip. You know how Tass mentioned changing the quality? Do that on any advertisements, too (especially if they're animated). I find that just doing that can also really cut down on "destructifying" lag.

if the flash announcements are lagging your computer, you can always reduce the size of that window so you dont see them anymore, it helped me with some games.

im using 32bit OS, 512mb x2= 1 GB of ram, DDR1, updated video cards - Geforce 7600 GS, and AMD athlon 3200+, and after i downloaded one demo, all games started having problems even offline ones

sounds like there was some bad stuff in that demo? run a program like CCleaner and AVG to try and clear your system up.
