  • Im a gordon fan but this is one of the coolest wins ever

  • At 1:50 you know that Big E is liking down from the heavens and just smiling from ear to ear and is very proud of both Michael and Dale, and I love how Michael was able to celebrate at Daytona that year since he was not able to because of what happened at the end of the 500.... Picture perfect for DEI :)

  • what a good moment

  • I hope Jr wins this years 500, coming from a Gordon fan

  • who dat! Said Dale jr cant win!

  • @4:05 That was the dumbest question Bill Weber has ever asked

  • @BRN14fan its a great joke.

  • One of the most beautiful moments I have ever seen. This is what America is about tradition, god, and doin what you love. Go dale.

  • yeah im crying very emotional, specially when i saw this the day it happened and still makes me cry thanks for sharing

  • IN 11 YEARS OF CUP RACING...DALE HAS WON ON AVERAGE 1.68 RACES PER YEAR.....NO OFFENSE TO DALE...BUT I DONT THINK A GUY COULD HAVE THAT KIND OF RACE RECORD AND STILL HAVE A RIDE WITHOUT BEING BORN INTO IT LIKE KYLE PETTY WHOSE RECORD IS MUCH MUCH WORSE...OK LET THE INSULTS FLY

  • @1IIIIIIIIII1 Most drivers are lucky to get one win in their whole career.....

  • Dale Earnhardt was probably crying buckets when he his son win and Dale Jr was crying buckets knowing that his dad is and always watching over him

  • is michale walltrip gay becuz he shers hell talks like it

  • @wwwhotboycom Get yourself a dictionary and have someone teach you how to use it.

  • how could anyone dislike this!?!?!?!? the 5 people that disliked this are assholes with no heart! R.I.P dale SR. you will NEVER be forgotten.

  • @gamingxxxxxfreak busch fans

  • This win brought tears to my eyes...and I'm not even a NASCAR fan :)

    Bravo Jr, Bravo

  • Wierd, nobodys mentioned Dania Patrick during the victory celebration....those were the days

  • This is the race that got me back watching racing after Sr's death and it's also the race that made me realize that Theresa is a heartless bitch. To not be there for her late husbands special ceremonies held that day or to be there to support Junior, Michael, or Steve Park showed her true self and look at the Bitch now. She might be rich but she is nothing.

  • the most emotional part about this video is the fact that it goes so much deeper than this. If you come to this video having never known much about nascar, you're just not going to get as much out of it. There is so much more that goes into this win than you can see by just watching this video. You almost have to watch Nascar for the last 20 years to get the full impact. I am forever grateful of the Impact Dale Earnhardt has had on my life and i know that he will always be there in the stands.

  • @brunswickbball11 i see what you saying, but i think all race fans will understand how deep this is, not as you say get the full impact maybe, but they will understand how deep this is for NASCAR fans, akin (for brits anyway) to Damon Hill emulating his dad Graham and winning the F1 World championship. I remember my dad who was 17ish when Graham died, crying when Damon Won the championship in 96 just because it was the son of the possibly the greatest british F1 driver in the history of racing

  • @brunswickbball11 yea i completely get you but i was talking about those people who look at Nascar as just guys driving in circles for 4 hours. i know a ton of people who could care less about Nascar and those arte the guys i was talking about. i do see your point though

  • 5:50, that should've been jimmie johnson's mentallity, jr was dedicated to jimmie at talledega

  • who are the assholes who disliked this?!

  • @SBRHBK Kyle Busch Fans!!!!!

  • Man... I've been a die-hard Jeff Gordon my entire NASCAR lifetime (since early '95). Of course, by default, I kinda rooted against Dale Earnhardt, but never in a million years did I doubt how important he was to the sport.

When the unthinkable happened, I was in shock like everyone else for a while. When this race came around and Junior dominated like he did, and gave Mikey a chance to finally celebrate his 500 win, I got chills.

I still do. Every year around this time, I watch this.

  • Am I the only one that thinks Bill Weber is a jackass?!

  • 5 people must of missed the thumbs up!

  • good job Dale!! I'm glad you did it!! Dedcate this to your dad..

  • how could you dislike this....if the 4 people who disliked this knew the whole story....they would want to take it back

  • If you think that NASCAR could have a race fixed, I think you need to go get to know the other 42 egomaniacal jackasses that you'd have to persuade to lose on purpose, just so the fans could have their perfect little fairytale ending...... No, this was a once in a lifetime moment that will never be matched again, just because it WAS SO fucking genuine, perfect, and real..... Also probably one of the reasons that NASCAR hasn't completely died out yet after Dale Sr.'s death

  • @klapp08 True, plus Jr always has a good race on superspeedways, if it was really fixed Jr would probably have had 30 or 40 wins since 2001.

  • hey that man taught jr every thing and i learned some lessons in life

  • The 2001 season is definately the most memorable time ever in NASCAR, Earnhardt's life taken at Daytona, Steve Park wins 1 week after, Kevin Harvick wins 3 weeks after, and the next time they come to Daytona Dale Jr and Michael Waltrip still finish 1-2 (we all know that Dale was at EVERY RACE still showin hes around) will always remember this season as a storybook written perfectly (i usually dont belive in number games, but everytime Earnhardt is involved, numbers mean everything

  • Best race ever

  • 4 people thought Nascar is just "left-turns." Ignorant fools.

  • this is def a crying moment

  • There was some divine intervention from Dale Sr!!!!

  • I myself am not a Earnhardt fan (when racing) but there is not a single person in NASCAR that can say he didn't deserve this win, and I remember watching both the races, the death and this win and it was like it was a book it was so perfect.

  • This is why there are so many Dale fans. This legacy is amazing.

  • 3 people are jeff gordon fans

  • this makes me cry, very fitting for Dale Jr. to win this (':

  • Awesome race for Dale Jr.

  • The best moment in NASCAR's history. Ultimate redemption. Dale Jr. & Michael celebrating together topped it off. =)

  • there ain't nobody else

  • one of the best moments in nascar!

  • Gotta love Waltrip." What an emotional day, thanks to Ritz cracker, Napa, Lady soft Maxi pads, TV dinners, and anyone else who needs a plug!". I know its there job, but still seems kinda odd in the moment.

  • Probably my favorite moment ever in Nascar. and i was only 10 when this happened.

  • NASCAR is fake.

  • @JeffersonLambert: You are an idiot.

  • @JeffersonLambert let's see you try it

  • @JeffersonLambert then stop watching the videos. and fuck you.

  • @JeffersonLambert people die in nascar, is that fake

  • There will be no greater victory than this one right here. Dale Jr.'s most memorable finish half a season later after losing his father. The greatest driver of all time. RIP Dale Earnhardt, The Intimidator. NASCAR will never be the same without you.

  • @KriegerAurelius I think I may have to disagree with the "no greater victory" part. I would give that to when Jr. Won Daytona in his father's #3.

  • My Favoite part about all this is, that his dads best friend and long time team member Chocolate Myers was the very first person to congratulate him.

God Bless Dale Earnhardt you are truely missed

  • @TownerE agreed! chocolate lost it when dale won the 500 in 98..my favorite reaction of his tho is when harvick won in atlanta..such a good friend of dales.

  • @TownerE best friend? what about neil bonnett?

    whatever, I believe ya.

  • @p1k4nurxp13sr

you can have more than one best friend

  • IF YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES WHEN HES TALKING TO EURY SR. YOU CAN HEAR DALE IN HIS VOICE.......

  • the most magical night in nacar history..unbelievable..you can't find stuff lik this in any other sport...incredible..

  • @DanD3815 Yes you can. Its called the WWE.

  • @TarHeelsKenny ..no...WWE is fake...this moement here is as real as it gets.

  • @TarHeelsKenny Yup. WWE. A magical land where nothing is real. This was real.

  • i bet there was a bunch of beer consumed that night...

i wish nascar could be this special again

  • JFRA316

    I COULDN'T AGREE MORE

  • This was a party. and the greatest night in NASCAR history

  • @JFRA316 greatest night in nascar history is when sr. won the 500 my friends

  • Was back when the organization that Dale built was coming into its own...they spent the next 4 or so absolutely dominating races at daytona and talladega. But I don't care how much better his car was than anyone else's ( no doubt it was the class of the field ), and it doesn't matter what he did before this race or after this race...Let me put it like this. If I ever manage to honor and pay tribute to my father the way Dale Jr did for his father, I'll be content to know I'd have made him proud

  • TarheelsKenny , *Scripting a race at Daytona *first thing is you'll want an engine straight from a John Force Funny Car and hide it under the hoods of these cars, next you'll want that special set of MAGIC TIRES straight from Goodyears Cheat Shop ohh yea and lastly you just gotta have that INVISIBLE MAGIC Force Field Bubble to protect you from the other 42 Cars traveling at 190 MPH ... * Blink .. Blink !!!

  • man imagine how crazy daytona will be if jr wins the 500 breaking his winless and doing it 10 years sincehis father died, i know ill be going crazy, hell i was going crazy last year when jr almost beat mcmurray

  • watching this it gives me the shits and giggles

  • 3 Butt Pirates.....

  • I am not a racing fan, but how can this not touch a person. It was really great to see. Really great to see.

  • if only dale was there to see that then he would be so happy to see his son do that trick on the grass like he did man i miss the good old days with dale was on top of his car when i was a baby and i hae a pic of it and its still in y house today

  • I miss this kind of DEI :( this is soo epic

  • JR ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

  • I still get goose bumps and cry when I watch this even after 9 years! RIP Sr!!! You are missed

  • yeah how can you fix a nascar race, dale jr. could have wrecked on lap 6 for all Nascar could have known.

  • dale is missed and micheal ur a hero :)

  • i agree with earnhardt gamer everytime i see this i get goosebumps all over

  • Jeff purvis finishes 42ndin this race when Dale died he finished 43rd, I guess dale blessed purvis and Earnhardt jr.

  • @wwerussian26 dude he actually finished 12th when he died.

  • you know when your a true nascar fan when you cry watching this.

  • @Carnicrush amen brother and if any one but jr would ave won they would not have made it out of the track! man do i miss him

  • @Carnicrush YEP... and I am crying! Just like i did watching it live when it happened!

  • @Carnicrush you know how special this moment is when you have people from Australia, who rarely watch NASCAR, getting emotional over this. There was no other way for the race to end, it had to be a win for Junior....

  • @Carnicrush amen to that

  • @Carnicrush you got that right buddy, cry every time

  • @Carnicrush Amen

  • @Carnicrush Yup, seeing it for the first time in 10 years, it still has the same effect. It's got to be the greatest moment in NASCAR history.

  • @DJK83 without a doubt GREATEST MOMENT IN NASCAR HISTORY, AND ONE OF THE GREATEST MOMENTS IN ALL OF SPORTS HISTORY

  • @Carnicrush i luv raceing! although i have never raced b4 it feels like i was in that crowd

  • @Carnicrush damn right

  • @TarHeelsKenny you must be the Dumbest fucker ever who can decide who wins a race??? its all competition nothing involves scripts its all Racing and if you dont like it, dont watch it. and im not a Jr. Fan neither

  • One of the greatest moments in NASCAR history. You can only know that his father was sitting and standing right beside him that entire evening. That race was meant for Jr and him only.

  • Dale Jr fan for life! I miss his Daddy though RIP DALE!

  • Nascar used to be so enjoyable. Now its hard to watch

  • @MCEProd22 u are so right, look at jr there wearing an open face helmet like his daddy

  • Well, I never really mind Dale Jr. Good guy and everything, just kinda lost it recently. I wouldn't mind if he did well but I would like it if he doesn't win it's not all about his crew cheif or Hendrick. I'm always for the underdog, and I was only 5 when I watched this, but man it does warm you're heart to see this.

  • 3 conspiracy theorists disliked this video.

  • I still cry like a baby when I see this footage! This was so awesome for Jr!!

  • I miss Dale Sr

  • There was no set up, but I wouldnt put it past the drivers in the field, most if not all who knew Dale Sr., to have laid back and wanted the kid to win it for dad. Then again, DEI had a MONSTER superspeedway package for about 5 years after this, so they had the power to finish 1-2 regardless.

  • that was just amazing 1-2 and mikey followed him in 2nd damn that was emotion even for the fans, my dad was a true Dale Sr. fan and so was I, i remember that race. damn

  • SET UP

  • @dodd702 i cant belive you just said that, let me guess jr's win in the 3 was a set up to, god you conspiracy theorist have no life

  • @dodd702 dude are you serieos. how can you be a bigger asshole.

  • bill weber is a douche bag

  • These conspiracy theorist comments crack me up.

  • This victory still gives me chills even after 9 years. That victory is what the sport is all about !!!

  • the ol' man would be proud...

  • Mospit!

  • the greatest daytona moments, 1998 daytona 500, and the 2001 pepsi 400, R.I.P Dale Sr

  • the best victory celebration EVER.

  • This win made the new face of Nascar after Dale Earnhardt died. I hope Junior gets it together and gets back into this form soon.

  • Waltrip and Jr....this is how team mates are supposed to run together. I am so sick of these petty in-team NASCAR rivalry's in NASCAR today.

  • man this was what 9 years ago..and i still get teary eyed. i was like 15 at the time. I remember this night..DIE HARD Rusty wallace fan, but I was pulling crazy for Jr.

  • I remember watching this with my family.... Me a DJ fan my bro loved KURT BUSCH pops liked HARVICK... But we were screaming and partying for Dale Jr that night. I still to this day can't believe they both went 1-2 again...

  • he needs pops!!!!!!!

  • This is my favorite moment in NASCAR!!

  • This makes me cry, I remember this night. JR <3

  • just noticed that his car has the 2001 all star race on it at SafeCo! :D

  • Their are two people that did'nt like this video. Who would'nt like this video, it's one of the greatest moments in all of Nascar and sports history for that matter.

  • its cool that he won the same day that his dad won his first race and he won the 500 the same day as his dad won his first five hundred congrats Dale

  • @rkteen619 Sr won his very last race in the same fashion Jr won this one. In the 2000 Winston 500 Sr went from 18th to win it with four laps to go. That's why the announcer said "Using lessons learned from his father."

  • @tboneboy2010 I agree Weber should have kept his mouth shut on that.

  • Anybody believes that Jr was handed that race is full of shit! In the 2000 Winston 500 Sr went from 18th to win it in four laps. This was the passing of the torch from Father to Son. RIP #3

  • I LOVE YOU DALE

  • Im in no way a Dale Jr fan...but this was a win that i celebrated to with him. I remember my Dad said, "Oh Bullshit...NASCAR GAVE him that win...." but I said ,"Man...even if they did, fuck it. You can't get better entertainment than this. Dude's Dad DIED at this track only 6 months earlier...and he came back and won for him."

  • @ScottNEwberry When the announcer said "using lessons from his father..." In the 2000 Winston 500 Sr went from18th to win it in four laps. I agree anyone who thinks Jr was handed that is full of shit. The torch got passed that day.

  • im 13 and this made me cry.

  • @vballer421 i'm 31 and watchinh this clip makes me cry to this day.

  • What a miserable person TarHeelKenny must be.

  • the most emotional, storybook ending in NASCAR history...gives me chills every time I watch this as a 3 fan...I was only 9 when this happened and I remember how awesome this race was

  • HAHAHA, NASCAR SCRIPTED? Yeah I am sure that they script wrecks in there so they could potentially be in the hospital or end up dead.

If people actually believe this we have more problems than Dale Jr has with his car every year. What a sad world we live in with these morons.

  • TarHeelsKenny sounds like a disgruntled teenager who gets picked on in school. So you resort to bashing a Nascar driver cause he can't hurt you. Aww. you need a therapist. Besides did you ever check the stats for Dale Jr? NASCAR Sprint Cup Series statistics Wins: 18 Top Tens: 142 Poles:8 NASCAR Nationwide Series statistics Wins: 22 Top Tens: 72 Poles: 10 hes obviously not the most popular due to his sucky driving. IDIOT.
  • He's a better driver than YOU, dumbfuck.

  • there is a hater for every driver. whatever you say man.

  • you know you can't script NASCAR right? this isn't the WWE

  • R.I.P. Davey Allison (1961-1993)

  • I suppose Mcmurray's win was scripted also! ::::: rolling eyes :::::

  • mospit!

  • why did dale decide to work with jeff is beyond me <.<

  • NO THAY DONT WWE IS FAKE AS SHIT

  • So you're saying they "wrote" Dale Sr's death? That's ridiculous. Leave these videos for the fans.

  • No you dumb bitch. I said they wrote the script for Jr to win this race. Just like they did when Hendrick' plane hit crashed.

  • As a Nascar fan, I'd have to say you're wrong. What if they scripted Earnhardt to win the 2001 Daytona 500 but he crashed?? Too many flaws in your little theory. By the amount of "thumbs downs" you recieved, I don't think anyone will disagree with me. Except for you of course. So get off your parents computer and get a life. By the way, calling someone a dumb bitch over the INTERNET isn't intimidating or insulting, like you may think it is. Oh, and nice comparison to the WWE, by the way.

  • I ran out of character space, there. Tell me how WWE is anything remotely like NASCAR? As a fan of both, there isn't anything, other than a hectic schedule. So again, leave these videos for the fans. If it's so "scripted" you clearly aren't a fan, so just stop searching for vidoes to try to look cool on the internet :) Goodbye!

  • Aw, I feel bad for just how stupid you are.

By the way, I'm not inbred or a redneck. So, fuck you. Also, Ever heard of "trying to do your dad proud"???? It is a coincidence. I'm concerned for your intelligence level by your lack of ability to spell correctly. Please, get an education! But according to your profile, you're 36, so it's far too late for that, eh? Just because YOU come up with a theory, doesn't mean it's true. Thanks and goodbye!

  • TarHeelsKenny---You are truly the stupidest fucker i have ever read a sentence from.. Honestly i wish i was in front of you to slap the teeth out of your fuckin mouth. You cannot script a fucking race with cars that are going 190 mph side by side and front to back... You are an ignorant fucker that needs some common sense

  • @TarHeelsKenny big tough guy talkin shit and actin tough...but most all soundin like a fuckin idiot. yeah good theory...why dont you go on the speed channel and say that on national tv mr. script. do you understand how fuckin retarded you sound when you say that?! wow

  • @TarHeelsKenny Why don't you go back and wait for the world to end in 2012 and read you JFK and government conspiracys book in your Y2K bunker.

  • Sorry, too many variables to "control" a race.

  • Name some of these variables?

  • 1. Driver fatigue from being inside a 150+ degree car for 3+ hours

    2. Driver error from going 200 MPH for 3+ hours with 42 other cars all around

    3. Other driver/spotter errors

There's just NO WAY that NASCAR can "control" a 3-hour+ race and determine who wins. It's just conspiracy theorists that love to claim bullshit (which always falls apart when challenged by logic)

  • @Nocstaa You do know he won 4 in a row? Not 5. He finished second in the 5th one. And who care how he is doing now, at this moment at this race, he had the car and he had the team. It's one of Nascar's most memorable moments.
