it's possible to understand how was different that world from actual F1. First of all it's differenta the track. before there are alsto the trees near to the board of the road while now everbody preachs safety! And how are different the cars without back aileron. thak you so much
DrBGW this is great I was there, I was 16 and I thought F1 was the coolest thing in the world. I read every Road & Track, Sports Car Graphic, that I could get. I still have the program, my Circulaire's, for the F3 and F1 races and a poster for the1966 race. I remember the sound as they came out of the tunnel, the induction noise was HUGE. Jim Clark had just died, so I was really rooting for Graham Hill and Lotus. I have a Lotus-Caterham 7 & I remember Jimmy, Colin & Graham thanks

to think there are people out there who think the monaco grand prix has no place on the modern day f1 calendar. In my opinion it's a complete and utter legend and one of the most magical events out there.
Here in Australia, back then, we'd have to wait about 6 weeks to read/see the Brit magazines' race-coverages!! I never thought I'd ever see actual fims. Superb.
Certainly worth waiting so many years, yes! The stills alone from your films are
excellent. No Bathurst coverage? Seems
odd, given that scores of UK (or British-born) drivers have competed there over so many years. I vividly recall the 1976 race, when Sir Stirling Moss entered - the tv and spectator numbers that weekend went to all-time high!
Was this footage you caught yourself DrBGW? This is fantastic archival stuff you got here! It would have been a bonus if the technology at the time could get the sound of the cars, but its a feast for the eyes nonetheless! Thanks Doc.
All my own work! And as a paying customer as well, none of the advantages of being Medical Officer there. I have some film of many of these cars at the Monaco Historique, with sound and better quality. I'll work on it...
I had not noticed it, but I have now! What an improvement! I now have to re-digitise everything without projector noise or accidental background music! Just a matter of time...
Have a look at my Targa Florio movie. If Monaco was insane, what would you call that? CROWDS of people walking along the track. OK you could hear cars coming, but it is no wonder they stopped it in the end!
how quaint in '68, people were using the sidewalks during the race.

C'était l'époque où les hommes devaient savoir PILOTER une voiture de course, et non seulement CONDUIRE !
Les épreuves actuelles sont d'une monotonie affligeante par comparaison...

He was my hero: he won the first F1 race I ever saw (Goodwood 62). Sorry about the sound effects!
