  • how quaint in '68, people were using the sidewalks during the race.

  • THIS VIDEO IS SIMPY A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

it's possible to understand how was different that world from actual F1. First of all it's differenta the track. before there are alsto the trees near to the board of the road while now everbody preachs safety! And how are different the cars without back aileron. thak you so much

  • DrBGW this is great I was there, I was 16 and I thought F1 was the coolest thing in the world. I read every Road & Track, Sports Car Graphic, that I could get. I still have the program, my Circulaire's, for the F3 and F1 races and a poster for the1966 race. I remember the sound as they came out of the tunnel, the induction noise was HUGE. Jim Clark had just died, so I was really rooting for Graham Hill and Lotus. I have a Lotus-Caterham 7 & I remember Jimmy, Colin & Graham thanks

  • Grazie mille! From ITALY

  • extraordinaire, mille mercis pour ces magnifiques images,

    j'y était ce 26 mai 1968.

  • Thankyou for making such amazing footage available to all !

I'm assuming Stewart was at Indy for the race ( and Hulme ) ?

  • thats incredible, i bet it was easy to move around from corner to corner in those days, near impossible these days

  • Filmato bellissimo. Quando i piloti di F1 erano eroi.

  • Filmato bellissimo. Quando i piloti erano eroi.

  • to think there are people out there who think the monaco grand prix has no place on the modern day f1 calendar. In my opinion it's a complete and utter legend and one of the most magical events out there.

  • Best F1 era ever. Real cars, Real races

  • Thank-you for these extraordinary images.

Here in Australia, back then, we'd have to wait about 6 weeks to read/see the Brit magazines' race-coverages!! I never thought I'd ever see actual fims. Superb.

  • Hah! Worth waiting 41 years then? Thanks!

We never get ANY coverage of Bathurst over here...

    Brian

  • Certainly worth waiting so many years, yes! The stills alone from your films are

    excellent. No Bathurst coverage? Seems

odd, given that scores of UK (or British-born) drivers have competed there over so many years. I vividly recall the 1976 race, when Sir Stirling Moss entered - the tv and spectator numbers that weekend went to all-time high!

  • Brian, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL! Make sure the originals go in the vault! Thanks for your effort. BW

  • RIP SERVOZ GAVIN number 11 leading 4 laps only

  • Oh man to hear the sound...

    We're lucky to have this!

    TP

  • This is amazing stuff. I'm speechless......

  • Will we ever see HQ on this? Or better HD? spectacular footage, thank you

  • Was this footage you caught yourself DrBGW? This is fantastic archival stuff you got here! It would have been a bonus if the technology at the time could get the sound of the cars, but its a feast for the eyes nonetheless! Thanks Doc.

  • All my own work! And as a paying customer as well, none of the advantages of being Medical Officer there. I have some film of many of these cars at the Monaco Historique, with sound and better quality. I'll work on it...

    Brian

  • Do you like my version from your clip...with music?

  • I had not noticed it, but I have now! What an improvement! I now have to re-digitise everything without projector noise or accidental background music! Just a matter of time...

  • Your clip is one of my favourites. Graham Hill was an outstanding personality. I hope you like it with music...

  • He was my hero: he won the first F1 race I ever saw (Goodwood 62). Sorry about the sound effects!

  • That is fantastic, quality is great too.

  • Great footage , cant get over the safety precautions or lack there of . People walking on the sidewalk right next to the track , INSANE.

  • Have a look at my Targa Florio movie. If Monaco was insane, what would you call that? CROWDS of people walking along the track. OK you could hear cars coming, but it is no wonder they stopped it in the end!

  • Doesn't get much better than that

  • Really awesome - Yeaaaaah - those were the years ....

  • This footage is gold!!!

  • cool.

  • I WILL GIVE THIS FILM TEN STARS ! Wow !

  • Very nice tilt on the camera at the station hairpin, looks really professional. Not to mention all the rest of the footage - so thanks! :D
