I actually have the original Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. it's a simple thin story book about the island Chewandswallow which is also the name of the town in the movie. however in the book the sky simply rained food without a food-making machine. the movie also has a lot of scenes that can be found in the book like the giant pancake covering the school
