Ishi Yama Ryu is a modern (gendai) Japanese-style sword art developed by an American that had trained in Toyama Ryu and Nakamura Ryu. It is not a traditional Japanese martial art (koryu bujutsu), though some of the practitioners choose to cross train in classical systems (e.g. I've trained in Mugai Ryu and I'm also currently training in Yagyu Shinkage Ryu).
Question you guys seem to only be sparing with very basic moments, compared to some other schools on youtube. Is it because the are the most effective or is their another reason.
Good question. The short answer is, yes, basic movements are generally more effective because they are executed much more efficiently. However, something which on the surface appears simple, does not necessarily mean that it is. There is a lot of complexity in even the most basic movement.
Also, many of the students in this video had only been training a few months so in that respect they ONLY know basic technique. Therefore this video doesn't reflect what high level IYR sparring looks like.
Thanks for the feedback Tom. I'm looking forward to seeing your footage from this year's Battle of Atlanta. I was hoping to attend, but my wife is pregnant and BoA is scheduled pretty close to our due date. Hopefully I'll be able to brind down our group for BoA 2010.
Is there any Ishiyama Ryu school in indonesia?

My school is only a couple hrs from Atlanta, so if interested, you have an open invitation to come & train. Again, great clip,
