@oldchemical It was salt. Sometimes Brazilian bacon is surprisingly un-salty. I'm actually surprised nobody has asked me that yet.

oh man. Isn't bacon just amazing when your camping. I spent 8 days on an island in northern Ontario eating only bacon, bread and wild blueberries. it was the greatest experience. until the 5th day I realized that my Island was a butcher shop for large predators. I woke up to a splash and seen bear crossing back to the main land, to the right of the island was a gnarly mess of fur and blood. the same bear came over every morning at 8 am with a new carcass and amazingly never bugged me once.
