But presently this is still the most free country. This is soon about to end though. I have always wanted to visit Eurasia. Especially Ukraine. And Russia. But I have heard that Moscow is the most expensive place to visit in the world.

I have lived many years in both Australia & India. Australia has more freedom than the USA. India has MUCH more freedom than either the USA or Australia. Also America has the highest incarceration rate in the world. That is NOT freedom!

I am not as stupid as you think. No I have only visited Japan, Tanzania, Bolivia and Mexico. Mexico both northern, southern and central parts, all in about ten different visits over the last 30 years. But I agree with you that we are losing our freedoms here in America. I have heard that Australia is very open and free there. Gorbachev is a very credible person and his words are to be taken seriously. It was Gorbachev, after all, who opened the Soviet Union to allow glasnost and peristrika that eventually set the East free by tearing down the Berlin Wall in 1989. Gorbachev is a world hero.

I'm from New Zealand & watched this all unfold, watching it from every angle.... It's true that in war no side is 100% innocent but from where I sit, Sakaashvili need to resign. He's guilty as hell. Georgia) to save lives (ie Ossetia) is bullying your neighbors (how many were lost in the Georgian attack against Ossetia?) - what will we call what the US does to countries across the world? It was clear with the end of the Cold War. Whatever people may tell you,the cold war was called off by the Russians in particular Gorbachev and he only did it under the understanding that the US will end its empire end the Military Industrial Complex and end interfering in affairs of other nations instead the greedy imperialists in Washington saw it as a green light to expand andcontrol the world with out Russia checking the US Empire. I remember the 1980s well. Thanks to the trust built up between Reagan and Gorbachev it seemed the entire world was heading in new era of less conflict and global peace, especially towards the end of the decade 1989 was particularly positive year. When everyone was hoping that Washington will follow Moscow's lead and demilitarise. What does the US do? Streghtens the US military industrial complex and expands NATO under GH Bush Snr. Throughout 1990s and 21st C threatening Russia again.

It is an understandable problem for Russia to have NATO encroach on them, but what I don't understand is why Russia insists on being so adversarial with it's neighbors, always seeming to bully them.
