from what I've seen. Ancient korean swords were single edged but were not curved blades. Koreans did not favour mounted combat thus did not have the need for a curved blade for mounted riders.
@centraltheorem2076 Korean swords of the later joseon period were nearly identical to Japanese swords. Many Chinese swords of the later ming dynasty also took on a similar shape.
@ScottishSamurai1987 At one point Korean philosophy changed and swords were outlawed/banned. This is why Korean sash, rope, and fan have mythical status. Their use and skill was very important against sword-wielding attackers, but little actual knowledge survives. The single-edged sword resembling a Japanese blade is actually found in cultures spanning from the middle east. How much curve it has is also regional. Japan continued, adding a blood grove and improved forging. But similar
@bosswnsket the korean sword during the 1300-1900 are curved like japanese swords but they aren't the same if you go into detail. They were made in this shape during that time, coz there were lots of japanese invasions and korea needed a style of sword to repel against the jap swords
It's my favorite swordmaster, master choi hyung gook (최형국), who I think performs at Suwon. He goes by the nickname blue monster (푸른깨비). I think he's the best in my opinion in the two sword form. I want to visit Korea just to see his performance one day.
A very beautiful and aesthetic performance of traditional korean fighting and very elegant with beautiful music! Very impressive.
I loved to see the flow of the sword and the different tempos of the mouvements and the fast cuts. Also in harmony with the music it looked to me like he was dancing and fighting in one. Also the ancient traditional fighting dress is very nice.Sorry for my bad english in advance.
doesn't really matter because the Japanese destroyed 99% of Korean sword work, all we really have is a bunch of old drawings and techniques from other disciplines
japans got the idea to make katanas from kroea

Now that's more concrete why they never , in the history, win that of Chinese.
Such a weak and sluggish sword dance.

This video's title is sort of misleading... I don't think a fight happened.
Least there were swords... Attacking the air... And matter inside whatever the poles were made of.
