Instead of using pre-recorded sounds or unrealistic text-to-speech they can program the robot to understand what words sound like and say them itself. All you would have to do is type what you want it to say.

Geez, what is so scary? This looks to be experiments in producing vocal sounds using the same acoustic principles as a human throat + mouth would use- I've actually always wanted to see/hear such experiments, or build one myself. Would be great to program something like this to sing music. Thanks for posting!
