We're just using the second building for panels downstairs, everything else is in the other building?

How do we know if our room for the stay is in one building or the other?

Ask the hotel. Your reservations should have that information. If you got any sort of improved room you are probably in the Executive Tower.

whys there an exit sign close to the floor

at 4:58 the sign is there because the ceilings are tall enough that in a fire smoke would hide the upper sign so people running from the fire couldn't see it.

I know, I'm going to get stuck in a courner and just sequel until someone noticed I'm in there and helps me escape.
