These people are morons!! This isn't at all what Ann is saying. She's stating the statistics. People are attacking her because she's speaking the truth? Every woman that stood up said the same thing. Look at me!!! I'm a great mom!!! How about, what can we do to keep dad in the picture? Why are there so many single parents? If the statistics that Ann said are correct, then something needs to be done.
Ok I usually HATE Anne Coulter, but are these people serious? Like she said...and Jeter strikes out sometimes. The people in the audience are talking about the exceptions, not the rule. She never said EVERY child from a single parent home will be at risk, but many ARE. Stats do not lie, and feeling sad about what she said is not an argument. Saying "This issue really hits home to me and it's offensive" is not an argument. Stats are stats, take it or leave it.
The only reason she puts a blanket on ALL single mothers is to grab headlines and get noticed. She's merely pissing people off so she can sell copies of whatever book she's selling, and then she can get interview about it on TV. Mothers like Casey Anthony should give their children up for adoption.
Ann Coulter is right. The losers writing negative comments about Ann are bitter single mothers. (With the exception of widows), if your a single mother then your are a loser and so are your loser kids. Single Mothers (not widows) can go fuck themselves.
@mindinsolitude So your saying fuck fathers and men in general and the kids are better off with no strong male figure. I HATE SINGLE MOTHERS (except for widows). Boys raised by single mothers are either pussies or wild animals. Girls raised by single mothers are either evil, selfish assholes who hate men or super weak, gullible hoes who themselves turn into single mothers.
@Tsugua21 Not at all! I'm not anti-men (Me being a man and all) Not having a father doesn't mean not having a strong male figure in your life. There's uncles, Grandpa's, male family friends, teachers, sports coaches. List is endless. I believe in Family values and that children should be raised with in a wider family unit. I'm a conservative who believes that liberal policy wrongly put state as protector of single mothers. It should be her family, creating natural male/female balance for kids
I see her point. I've met more than one woman who, after getting pregnant out of wedlock, has turned down the proposal of marriage because "I don't need a man, and I don't want a husband". This has become a trend. She's not talking about the woman who's husband has died or walked out on her, that is different. She's talking about an altogether different type female, one who doesn't want or need a husband, but who completely disregards the fact that their child may need their father.
You cannot just say that you might as well give the baby up for adoption, not all adoptive families are "great" parents and not all biological parents are "great" parents. Wouldn't it put more stress on the child when they grow up and find out hey my mother gave me up, then they start thinking their parents never loved them and never cared for them. And she obviously has no kids because to sit here carry a baby for 9 months give birth and then just give them away, its not that plain and simple.
When i see a crazy bitch like that, you kind of hope parents never live together, look how fuck up you can be when you're raise by two stupids parents, two ignorants adults can really kill values and rationnal thinking.
what the crap my sister is a single parent with 2 girls one has all "A's" and the other has A's and B's their mom works 2 jobs takes care of her dieing father and still make sure their both at school on time and now the oldest has cancer so what the heck is this lady talking about im old as heck and they turned out better then me and i dont think their statistics is right stop looking at that statistics dont help me at all waste of time and money
so just because my child doesn't have 2 people that love it, i should make it so it has none? This lady is the dumbest broad on the face of this earth for saying this. Ya lets just give it away to become a ward of the state and be at risk of suffering from sexual abuse and other abuses from strangers. Being orphaned is a terrible thing to wish on a child, someone take this loon off of TV. I was raised by a single mother and I am a future Neuroscientist and I can tell you that this woman is crazy
shut up woman.... the statistics including the number of delinquents does not include the rest of the world that has been raised by single moms and that have succeded...
@matheuzinho119 Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
This is woman is demonstrating so much of prejudice that is ridiculous... What a stupid woman!!! Women are so much more responsible than men and so such a greater job than men do!! So many men that live in a regular marriage that screw up with lives of their own kids and kids end up getting traumatized by such bd influences.... This woman needs to shut up and get out of the public sight for her own sake.. maybe she can avoid the rediculous by doing that!
Ann is an idiot. My mom raised me alone since I was two. My father was never there and I've turned out better than most. I owe my mother everything for the way that she raised me and for her to sit there and mock it makes her exactly what her book title entails–– Demonic. Her statistics are as worthless as her opinions. As much as I hate to say that someone's opinions are worthless it's easy to say that about her. I hope I get the chance to speak to her face to face so can rip her shreds.
Hmm.... meanwhile, she wants the military to consist solely of heterosexual males....so....kill all the fathers and boyfriends and vilify the widowed mothers for raising the children on their own? Great logic.
Also, being an unmarried parent is worse than being a divorced one? My aunt and uncle have been un-married for like, 26 years. And they are SUCH a happy couple.
She was probably raised by both parents and yet she still grew into a psychotic, self serving, insane bitch. I have all the data I need by watching this video.
Is this not a textbook example of a spurious correlation by Coulter or what? I would show this video to any research class as an example of what not to do.
Ann, Inform thyself. Not all single mothers had their children out of wedlock. I was a single mother after a failed marriage and raised two biological children, a nephew, 35 foster children, 2 animal rescues, owned many businesses and I stayed single until the last child entered into adult on good footing. My children are wonderful and we have a great relationship. I am even friends with my ex-husband. Im sure that is a radical idea for you but think about it. Bipolar can be maintained now...
Using Coulter's reasoning, I can state that driving a Mercedes has some supernatural effect that causes you to commit less crime, or that shopping at Dollar General incites people to snort meth. It's just as valid as Ann's conclusion.
Coulter's conclusion is incredibly specious. The hole in her argument is gaping. There's a simple concept taught in any undergrad research class that destroys her conclusion: "correlation does NOT equal causation!" Most single-parent households are in a low-income bracket, meaning that..gasp...poverty, once again, shows to be the source of crime/malbehavior. It's like the common hypothetical that shows there's a positive correlation between ice cream consumption and theft.
I don't think Coulter realizes how many White successful working Women there are in this country that are in the same situation as her (old, childless, unwanted by Men) and will do anything to have a child including adoption and artificial insemination. Why is anyone even listening to a person with NO CHILDREN, giving advice to parents? H Y P O C R I T E
a majority of the time my parents were EVER in the house together. But hey, statistically I should be finne in a 2 parent household. And even if my mother had me out of wedlock, and kept me for her "on selfish needs", seeing what she's done so far with 3 kids, I think she can raise 1 with little to no problem. That may just be me.
Wow. While it may be true that it is a lot better to be raised in a two parent household, how can you be sure that 1. the two parents will get along, and 2. the child will ultimately be happier and better raised. In an ideal family, the answers would be yes. If you ask me, someone who has went from a 2 parent household to a single parent household, I'd say seeing/hearing my parents scream and fight was a traumatizing experience. If you ask me, I am a lot happier not seeing my mother beaten by my
There will be more children left in the system than there will be people to adopt them. SMH This is the worst thing I've ever heard her say. She is demonic.
Here's the problem with her theory, there are alot of children in the system who need to be adopted who are placed in foster care, many end up raised by the system. Being given up causes more confusion than a single mother trying her best to raise her child. A woman giving up her child does not make things better, in fact, it may make things worse. She's basing her ideas on flawed statistics.
males are more violent and a majority of domestic abuse is caused by the male. No. According to Ann Coulter and the statistics she chooses to recognize, children should be raised in the posh homes of affluent, heterosexual couples. Because everything is by the book and numbers and statistics dictate that way all people behave.
@kelseeeycakes im certainly no republican however 72% of rapes and 57% of murderers were committed by males raised by single moms. i think those stats say more. wanna matriarchal society? head to your nearest ghetto
@kelseeeycakes Without regard to the amount of achievements, and the even greater amount of prosperity reaped and sometimes stolen from males? Can you honestly tell me that you overlooked those huge fuckin points, among the plethora of other great accomplishments and ideas toward communities and familes. I'm not saying males are better but your argument was blatantly biased. you take a small point for your side, then skip the other side. Also are you saying single moms are better then parents?
means we should be looking for wealthy, white, gay men? But, of course, Ann wouldn't like that either because how can homosexuals love like heterosexuals? Just as the question goes, how can single mothers love like two parents? How can a mother who chose to dedicate a great deal of her life to her child, be it from wedlock of artificial insemination, love as much as married parents? Because males are needed to get your child out of that statistic. Nevermind the fact that statistics show that
A huge reason children are often better off in two parent households is because it provides more financial stability. Looking at this from that stand point, there are a lot of people who should give up their children. Statistics show that areas of poverty happen to have larger populations of minorities. Does that mean minorities should give their children up for adoption so married, white people can raise their children? Statistics show that, on average, women make less than men. I suppose that
Why are people complaining about Coulter's stance. She is simply telling the truth and stating the facts. If a woman loved her child (instead of herself) she she would give her child to a couple that can care for it.
@dsim200000 im certainly no republican however 72% of rapes and 57% of murderers were committed by males raised by single moms. i think those stats say more. wanna matriarchal society? head to your nearest ghetto
@chrisd9105 "She seems to forget that one child of a single mother also became President of the United States"
Actually, Barack Obama's mother and father both abandoned him (his father first). President Obama was raised by his grandmother and grandfather from a young age. A married couple. So much for your example.
@chrisd9105 true but 72 of rapes and 57% of murderers were committed by males raised by single moms. i think those stats say more. wanna matriarchal society? head to your nearest ghetto
@chrisd9105@247Gordonfan. im certainly no republican however 72% of rapes and 57% of murderers were committed by males raised by single moms. i think those stats say more. wanna matriarchal society? head to your nearest ghetto
@chrisd9105 and then became the biggest failure as President of the United States. Im sorry, but that wasn't a good example. I definitely see how it shows accomplishmentin the act of becoming President, especially with the amount of deceiving and lying he was able to spew out to the masses, but in regards to his actions, I have seen nothing but bad-desicion making, and the amount of corruption allowed was absolutely despicable, that you can't argue
Ann Coulter is right. Its hilarious watching the women in the audience moaning and groaning. Facts scare them, they would rather feel good about themselves.
The smoking example is a good one. Everyone who smokes will not get lung cancer. But in the end it would be crazy to think that it didnt effect the smokers health in some manner. It would be better if they had never smoked than to risk it. Another statistic. Insurance company's charge male drivers more than female based on statistics. Not all male drivers will be bad drivers but as a whole they are more likely to be in an accident than female drivers. Individual cases don't show the entire pic.
The statisitics Anne is quoting have been around for as long as Anne has been around. They should come as no surprise to anyone. A child is statistically better off in a two parent home...meaning a mother and father than a single family home. She is not saying that all children from a single family home will have problems. No they dont all have problems. Some will beat the odds. Most will not according to the research.
statistics have little meaning. they can be swayed whatever direction they need to be swayed by the people who put them out. she states unequivocally that she gets her statistics from "conservative" magazines. what about "liberal" magazines? why would you get your statistics from a group with a political agenda? this absolutist and shallow mentality is putrid and an affront to all thinking people.
It's really not the studies she's using to make her case that undermine her conclusion. (I'm sure the studies she cites are valid and reliable). It's that Coulter is intentionally fooling people into thinking that correlation equals causation. Single-parent households tend to be in a lower-income bracket. Therefore, its poverty that leads to higher rates of crime and maladaptive behavior, not single mothers.
@chadimus84 Very true, but yet still a lot of statistics prove to apply to life really well, and hold true, because of the fact that they are usually formed from real life surveys. Although, news sources with a political agenda are terribly biased, most of the ones that do provide biased statistics fortunately get called out on it, just not particularly by the msm, although ones with hers probably would, looking at the disgust of this crowd
WOW she has a right to her opinion but to be ugly about it and the blanket statements about single mothers...hmmm..I think I would have respect more if she had actual experience under her belt vs numbers. She is definitely out of her 30's but her mannerisms and rude behaviour made me think of her as an ignorant youth. Some people do not mature with age. Presentation is everything...this was a waste of my time.
@PlainAngel7 What she is saying is not her opinion. Her experience if she had any would not change the statistics. An individual case has no relevancy what so ever. The numbers are the only thing that is relevant. This is a basic social phsychology experiment that has come to the same conclusion for decades now. More important is that there is both a control group and experimental group. The only ignorance displayed is by those who refuse to listen to statistics...they do not lie
@rackemcueboy I respect your view no offense meant ... I think her delivery was just tacky and defensive, for instance I could go on and on and try to voice my opinion versus hers and yours but WHY...you have the right to view life and experience the fullness thereof how you see fit and likewise for her.. but that is why we have to love the country we are in.
@PlainAngel7 Thank you, and likewise. I also respect your opinion. I will agree that she has a tacky way of putting things...to say the least. Its part of why I do like her. But I would say when it comes to certain subjects such as this, a more sensetive approach would most likely be better received. It's the children I am thinking of, not the mothers. I know some sngle mothers and honestly wish them and their children the best.
@PlainAngel7 It is also my wish that children have a father or at the very least have a father figure. Not to push any realigion or chrstianity, but could I suggest a movie? Check out Courageous. I know it's just a movie but it is based on what we know...statistically that is.
@rackemcueboy I have not seen this one yet ..LOVE THE SOUNDTRACK but it is on the list and will do. It just scares me that if she's a believer..I did not see the reflection of her source and in that alone it made it hard to digest. It's ok to have a standard and opinion and our opinions may offend others at times & vice versa but this just stirred up anger and hurt when everyones situations are different, and whose to say that God isn't big enough to help a single mom.
@PlainAngel7 By the way- I was given up for adoption as a baby and immediately adopted. I Was born at The Willows unwed mothers home in Kansas City. When I was 22 my birth mother after doing some search and paying off the right people for information contacted me. We have a wonderfull relationship and I have thanked her for giving me up for adoption. I grew up in a two parent home very loved and think the world of the father who raised me.
@PlainAngel7 No I don't know what it is like to be a single mother as many of the audience members hold as some important point in the argument. I only know what it is like to be a child that grew up with the love of both a mother and father...thank god. That is why I wouldnt trade it for the world. That is why I know there is nothing that can match it. That is why I can sincerely thank my birth mother for giving me up for adoption
@rackemcueboy Your personal journey sounds wonderful and you were blessed with a wonderful family and a good heart to have such openess to your birth mother. My mom's pastor and his wife adopted a child and have given her everything but she still has this void, I do know that her mother too gave her up and the circumstances she made that choice was to give her daughter a better life since she was a drug addict and some other sad variables but unlike you their daughter isnt whole as a result.
@rackemcueboy I think with age and experience she may feel differently and she is bi-racial unlike her family, so maybe there is some muddy water there BUT your story gives me that hope, all the pieces can be ironed out eventually...she's only 19. Her parents encourage her to meet her biological actually but she is very confused, I may share your story.
Preach it, Ann! Actually Ann said that the 2nd best option for children is that Mom and Dad be married, the 1st best option is that Mommy is not 'pro-choice'!
Of course you don't see the products of single mothers, they're all in jail. It is so narcissistic to want to encourage or perpetuate a harmful system simply because you were a product of that harmful system. Good for Ann. "Father" Albert is simply a popularizer.
I know plenty of people who have single parents and are healthy contributing members of society. My dad was never there and is a drug addict. Sometimes real life prevents a two parent household. Most people dont have things given to them. Not like some person who has never had to experience proverty, alcoholism, or anything out of her white breed christian world.
@sergiomats Yes they are emotional but they are also giving her a fact. Some of those woman were from single parent homes and turned out just fine or they are single mothers themselves and their kids are on the right track.
@eatprayloveify But the point was not "no single mother raises her kids ok" but "statistically, the majority of children who endup in prision are from single parent families".
I can't believe those histeric women couldn't present one single fact againt Ann. And that "priest" is a joke.
@sergiomats The joke is that his show actually gave her airtime, but everyone loves a controversy especially it seems in the US.
Instead of being being a bully and judgmental and spouting statistics with out knowing the whole story (did she actually do her research into those statistics or just copy them out of a report and cite the reference?) she might want to think about being a positive influence...maybe she could help change a life so someone doesn't become on of those statistics.
The joke is that THAT "Christian", like allt those histeric women, were unable to present one single rational argument against her. All they did was scream "but...but..I am a good mother!!" THAT WASN'T THE POINT!
SHe present the research in her book and CITED THE SOURCES.
And Ann is a positive influence by saying the truth - something that "priest" and those histeric women are not: good exampls.
@sergiomats If the studio audience had time to prepare they would have been on even playing field. But where's the "fun" in that. The producers decided to have an audience of people who are going take her comments personally and get upset.
I am wary of people citing statics no matter what the source. Also I don't think a person says one day I'm in/from a single parent family, my life sucks, I am going to turn to a life of crime. There are other factors in that come into play.
"The producers decided to have an audience of people who are going take her comments personally and get upset."
So they just assembled random people for the purpose of histeric word exchange? Ann was duped, then.
Nobody said "I'm in/from a single parent family, my life sucks, I am going to turn to a life of crime". What Ann and the evidence says is that most people in jail come from single parent family. Why don't people try to explain that?
Ann Coulter is a deranged lonley woman,.. Her childhood was sad..She is bitter..angry.. she hates men..She would never have a child herself..How would she know what she would do??If she had a baby growing inside her..Could she give it up ??Throw it away??Has anyone ever asked her ??A christian woman who won't marry?Who the hell could have such a controll freak?? Was she molested??Why is she so angry and negative..Someone aught write a book an that..It would be a best seller
@clarkolardo You appear to be the one losing it here. You make it sound like single parenthood is practically an inevitability. How is it, then, that it's been practically non-existent in so many cultures for thousands of years?
"Ann Coulter is angry....hates men.....bitter....sad....a control freak....negative" Give me a break! Hysterical much?
@vpassenheim It hasn't existed because women couldn't survive without a man because they were pregnant in the kitchen. Even back in the day, fathers never helped raise children. Their purpose was to leave and bring home money or food. The mothers and grandparents raised the children. Single mothers have only one paycheck therefore have a lower income and are at an obvious disadvantage. Poor people have kids who turn out bad more often than rich people. Poor parents should be sterilized?
So she is against birth control..Let me ask you something..Are you gonna tell me that you have never been in the heat of passion, when you were young, and you just stopped??Its they way she writes..Anger..I agree..don't get pregnat unless its planned..Its the nature of the beast..Education..percausion..Communacation..She force feeds her ideas..If she were to get pregnat, today, no partrner, would she give the baby up ? Well she probabley would, cuz she has no heart..Answer me that? would you ?
I'm a criminal justice major, and I have seen the statistics that support that single motherhood increases the chances of criminal behavior in children. However, her assertion that single mothers have created crime is sophomoric. Why not say broken families...why lay the blame at the feet of the people who stay...the people who sacrifice day and night to raise their children the best that they can, often completely alone.
I love this! A perfect example of the lack of intelligence that is rampant in our society...a whole studio full of woman and not ONE of them with a logical argument in their head!
A member of the audience asks Coulter "where do you think it's OK to say all this?" In America you have the right to criticize a particular social structure, as well as many other aspects of this world. It is irrelevant that such criticism might make others angry and emotional; in a debate, we need diversity of opinion. The host/audience was angry because in their view Coulter was villifying single mothers. In my view, the audience/host villified Coulter for having a different opinion.
It's AMAZING how many idiotic, incongruent, illogical comments were made by the members of the audience. OMG. I cannot believe the morbid stupidity that Ann Coulter has to put up with on a daily basis.
Thank you public schools for raising an entire generation of complete morons who will see to it that they run this country aground.
@vpassenheim Thanks for your comment. I'm a sophomore in high school and these kids today are too obsessed with popularity and social networking to actually do well in school.
@vpassenheim I can't believe Ann Coulter's comments about single mothers. She is calling them narcissists? She is poisonous. I am really surprised that people are giving her any air time.
@vpassenheim It is not the public schools raising a generation of idiots, it is people like Anne Coulter who obviously has no real life experience. Quoting statistics and actually living life & dealing with these issues are 2 completely different things. She is a pompous ass who doesn't deserve the attention she gets because instead of focusing on real life solutions she is slamming things she doesn't understand just for shock value & attention. Fuck her & her statistics!
The most obvious problem with what she's saying is the logic of her argument. If single motherhood was the social cause of crime, then it only stands to reason that there should have been a lot less crime in the era of 2 parent families. There was crime in the era of 2-parent families, and back in the 50s - the decade that epitomizes the family ideal ann glorifies - teen pregnancy was a lot higher than it is now, so apparently the number of parents a child has is completely irrelevent.
1. There was crime, but crime was lower. Coulter simply stated that most crime is committed by individuals being raised by a single parent, and that tends to be the mother. Coulter was criticizing the way society elevates single motherhood on a pedestal.
2. Teen pregnancy may have been higher, but it also resulted in marriage or existed in the context of marriage.
@vpassenheim 1. Crime was not lower. It was roughly the same. That is a conservative myth. But even if it was lower before the 1970s, it would have to not exist in order to support Coulters assertion/implication that single motherhood causes crime. Causation means that in order for A to cause B, A must precede B in time, and if A didn't exist then B wouldn't exist. But when A (singlemotherhood) didn't exist, B (crime) still existed.
@vpassenheim 2. I never said that teenage pregnancy didn't result in marriage so I don't know the relevance of your second point. She's saying singlemotherhood is conducive to teenage pregnancy as a social phenomenon, but again, in order for that to be true teenage pregnancy would have to not exist before 1970, but in fact, it was much higher than it is now.
@1985drd She never said that, and that doesn't even make sense. How can single motherhood be CONDUCIVE to teenage pregnancy? It may be an outgrowth of teenage pregnancy, but she doesn't even make that point.
@vpassenheim Conducive as a social phenomenon, which she has said in other interviews. Why are you no longer responding to my other points that I beat you on?
Does she have a PHD...Take her to court...She can not be a christian..Jesus would say..keep your baby..She has no right to speak as a christian or doctor..Statistics are crap..she has no heart
We can all see what happened to her..Angry , resentfull , bitter, ridged, fridged, hatefull, woman that was raised by two parents..?!!..I never seen so much anger and hate in one person..What does she say to her " Buddy" Sarah Palin????Bristol did not marry..Should Sarah's dayghter give up her baby Ann??I would like to hear what the Palins think of your SPOCK attitutued..STOP BUYING ANN COULTERS BOOKS>>
@clarkolardo Clearly, there are exceptions to the rule. That doesn't rule out the statistic. That is the big deal. You want to talk about being frigid, hateful, etc.? What have you to say to the many thousands of victims of single motherhood - you know the ones currently sitting in jail, comprising a majority of inmates who would have stood a better chance of fleeing a life of crime had they been raised in a 2 parent home?
@vpassenheim I agree with you ..But Coulters idea is so cut and dry..Solutions..She suggests if the father leaves , dies,ect..simply give the child up they won't have a chance at a good life..I don't know what sex you are, but could you give up your baby?..alot of people in jail also come from low income..poverty..should you give up your kid because you are poor..Ann Coulter is so heartless..angry..It makes me wonder why she is so empty? She lacks compassion. She has this God complex.
@clarkolardo Coulter never promoted the idea that if the father's baby dies or leaves then the mother should give up the baby for adoption. She's simply commenting on the lifestyle choice of so many who have sex outside of marriage, don't intend to marry, and think it an "alternative lifestyle" to raise up a child with only 1 parent. The compassionate thing for the child, in such a situation, is that the child be given the opportunity to be raised by 2 parents who would love to have a child
BTW Ann said Bristol should give her baby up for adoption. She is a fairly consistent woman. You can hate her for other things but not for being a hypocrite.
Filthy bitch thinks her "statistics" have a right to judge how people should live their lives? What a fucking idiot. Even when she was proved wrong she held on to her veiw. Pathetic! Lots of single moms riase good kids. It's as good as having a deadbeat dad. This from some bimbette who has no husband and cant keep a man. No wonder she thinks that way.
@1966Daywalker I do agree with you..So education..I am not saying go around and have babies..I have had a obortion when I was a teen..If I was to do it over , I would not..But I didn't know any better..No one talked to me about it or my oppsitions??Is she not only saying single peeps can't adopt? Is a better life in foster care??Ann Coulter sells books..People who love gossip and tabliods love her books..This is not christain behavior to make money off other peoples pain and personal lives
Go get'em Ann - you are right on target and no one is listening because they are too self-involved! Father Albert is 100% villan and all these women think he is an upstanding personality when he is POISON on TV.
I don't see how can you title this as" Ann gets owned" no one in that audience including the reverent had a single fact straight on what she was talking about. They all were talking on feelings while Ann was talking facts.
All those people saying I'm a good single parent our I'm doing great and I come from a single parent home. You are one of those lucky 3/10. For every one of you, there are more than 2 who did not turn out alright. facts are facts, whether they make you feel all warm and gooey inside our not.
My mom is a single mother and my dad died last October. My parents were married 16 years and now my mom had no one left; but 2 months after he died she starts dating a deadbeat whos well known around my neighborhood for being a stalker and an abuser. As an abuser he choked me 2 times and he hit my mom and slapped her in the face twice; he even got her a false imprisonment charge after he told the State Police that she hit him first (when she didn't)
@dsim200000 how old are you? 16? if so, you were raised by a complete family. You're old enough to know wrong from right and little will change you at this point. Having your mom date deadbeat for 6 months won't turn you into a hoodlum. If you are, you were like that before. The fact that your mom has bad taste in men now has nothing to do with the topic of this video.
@kristinawhitsell Which statement from Ann are you referring to that is supposedly 'full of hatred'? She's simply stating the fact that the majority of criminals were raised by single mothers. You can cite any amount of anecdotes it doesn't change decades of social science data and research. She's attacking the institution of single motherhood she is not personally attacking anyone. I don't know why Ann puts up with these idiotic unemployed losers that went to 9th tier community colleges.
@SquirrelTrapper She's not merely stating the fact that "the majority of criminals were raised by single mothers." She's saying that that proves theres a cause-and-effect relationship between the two phenomena, which it doesn't. And btw if you're so interested in "decades of social science data and research" then why have you not bothered to look up the statistics on teen pregnancy? The rate of teen pregnancy has been dropping since the 70s as single-motherhood rose.
@1985drd which 9th tier community college are you getting your statistics from? I have a PhD in differential topology and statistics from MIT, you don't know s*** loser.
@SquirrelTrapper Yes you certainly sound like the average holder of a PhD. most PhD holders I know throw at accusations, use ad hominem fallacies, and talk about how they hold PhDs in a forum where it can't be proven. Gee, I guess everyone who claims to hold a PhD must really hold one.
@1985drd You're logic doesn't follow. Have you considered that while teen pregnancy has dropped, that the rate of teens who choose to give birth out of wedlock may have actually gone up. Also, have you also considered the possibility that more non-teenaged women (which, let's face it, makes up the majority of women actually having children - probably upwards of 90% of the total number) are giving birth out of wedlock and then raising their children without a husband?
God, I would LOVE to ask her if she really thinks putting children up for adoption would really be better? I mean, lets put this kids up, where they may or may not be adopted. Bounced around from foster parent to foster parent. Then what about if they end up in a horrible family setting? SMDH.
@Kendrewana SO true. One example of a foster child bounced around, and a famous one at that: Marilyn Monroe.
Also, it wouldn't be better. And my mother has first hand experience with this. She's single and my dad died last October. And now she's dating an abusive boyfriend who hit her and choked me and she stays with him. Social Services is involved and my family, the State, Social Services, my county prosecutor, and professional therapists have suggested that she not be with him because of me.
@Kendrewana Well if you plan for an adoption while you are pregnant you can find a nice family and choose the family yourself you are giving the child to. Bouncing around in fostercare is what happens when the child is taken away from you for some reason, not when adoption is planned beforehand.
@Kendrewana She needs to shut up..How does she know..I hope to God no child would ever end up with her..Heartless..She is all opinian..Never from experience !! She angers me..God, who she claims she is a christian..Would never say , GIVE YOUR ChILD UP..Stop buying her damm books...She thinks being a best seller means it's good!!..It means ,like tabliods, people like to read trash...
If the statistics that Ann said are correct, then something needs to be done.
jamesgates12 1 day ago

Dmacho78 1 day ago
Ann Coulter is right. The losers writing negative comments about Ann are bitter single mothers. (With the exception of widows), if your a single mother then your are a loser and so are your loser kids. Single Mothers (not widows) can go fuck themselves.
Tsugua21 1 day ago
She is in general terms correct. I know so many single mothers who raised incredible children who have great careers and families.
She demonizes all single mothers. I know what she wants to say, that is it's better to give children up for adoption than sponge of welfare.
Having a father doesn't solve all a child's problems. Also same-sex parents are wonderful and raise great kids
mindinsolitude 2 days ago
@mindinsolitude So your saying fuck fathers and men in general and the kids are better off with no strong male figure. I HATE SINGLE MOTHERS (except for widows). Boys raised by single mothers are either pussies or wild animals. Girls raised by single mothers are either evil, selfish assholes who hate men or super weak, gullible hoes who themselves turn into single mothers.
Tsugua21 1 day ago

ChomskyandCheetos 3 weeks ago
Coulter's conclusion is incredibly specious. The hole in her argument is gaping. There's a simple concept taught in any undergrad research class that destroys her conclusion: "correlation does NOT equal causation!" Most single-parent households are in a low-income bracket, meaning that..gasp...poverty, once again, shows to be the source of crime/malbehavior. It's like the common hypothetical that shows there's a positive correlation between ice cream consumption and theft.

Wow. While it may be true that it is a lot better to be raised in a two parent household, how can you be sure that 1. the two parents will get along, and 2. the child will ultimately be happier and better raised. There will be more children left in the system than there will be people to adopt them. SMH This is the worst thing I've ever heard her say. She is demonic.
ThePhoenixVixen 1 month ago
Here's the problem with her theory, there are alot of children in the system who need to be adopted who are placed in foster care, many end up raised by the system. Being given up causes more confusion than a single mother trying her best to raise her child. A woman giving up her child does not make things better, in fact, it may make things worse. She's basing her ideas on flawed statistics.
ThePhoenixVixen 1 month ago
males are more violent and a majority of domestic abuse is caused by the male. No. According to Ann Coulter and the statistics she chooses to recognize, children should be raised in the posh homes of affluent, heterosexual couples. BradleyKust 2 weeks ago
means we should be looking for wealthy, white, gay men? But, of course, Ann wouldn't like that either because how can homosexuals love like heterosexuals? Just as the question goes, how can single mothers love like two parents? How can a mother who chose to dedicate a great deal of her life to her child, be it from wedlock of artificial insemination, love as much as married parents? Because males are needed to get your child out of that statistic. Nevermind the fact that statistics show that
kelseeeycakes 1 month ago 2
A huge reason children are often better off in two parent households is because it provides more financial stability. Looking at this from that stand point, there are a lot of people who should give up their children. Statistics show that areas of poverty happen to have larger populations of minorities. Does that mean minorities should give their children up for adoption so married, white people can raise their children? Statistics show that, on average, women make less than men. I suppose that

Most will not according to the research.
rackemcueboy 2 months ago
statistics have little meaning. they can be swayed whatever direction they need to be swayed by the people who put them out. she states unequivocally that she gets her statistics from "conservative" magazines. what about "liberal" magazines? why would you get your statistics from a group with a political agenda? this absolutist and shallow mentality is putrid and an affront to all thinking people.

@chadimus84
ChomskyandCheetos 3 weeks ago
@chadimus84 Very true, but yet still a lot of statistics prove to apply to life really well, and hold true, because of the fact that they are usually formed from real life surveys. Although, news sources with a political agenda are terribly biased, most of the ones that do provide biased statistics fortunately get called out on it, just not particularly by the msm, although ones with hers probably would, looking at the disgust of this crowd

Presentation is everything...this was a waste of my time.
PlainAngel7 2 months ago
@PlainAngel7 What she is saying is not her opinion. Her experience if she had any would not change the statistics. An individual case has no relevancy what so ever. The numbers are the only thing that is relevant. This is a basic social phsychology experiment that has come to the same conclusion for decades now. More important is that there is both a control group and experimental group. The only ignorance displayed is by those who refuse to listen to statistics...they do not lie
rackemcueboy 2 months ago
@rackemcueboy I respect your view no offense meant ... I think her delivery was just tacky and defensive, for instance I could go on and on and try to voice my opinion versus hers and yours but WHY...you have the right to view life and experience the fullness thereof how you see fit and likewise for her.. but that is why we have to love the country we are in.
PlainAngel7 1 month ago

@sergiomats The joke is that his show actually gave her airtime, but everyone loves a controversy especially it seems in the US.
Instead of being being a bully and judgmental and spouting statistics with out knowing the whole story (did she actually do her research into those statistics or just copy them out of a report and cite the reference?) she might want to think about being a positive influence...maybe she could help change a life so someone doesn't become on of those statistics.
eatprayloveify 4 months ago
The joke is that THAT "Christian", like allt those histeric women, were unable to present one single rational argument against her. All they did was scream "but...but..I am a good mother!!" THAT WASN'T THE POINT!

There are other factors in that come into play.

vpassenheim 6 months ago

Well she probabley would, cuz she has no heart..Answer me that? would you ?

I can't agree more with Ann Coulter. She is right on point!

I am really surprised that people are giving her any air time.
eatprayloveify 4 months ago
@vpassenheim It is not the public schools raising a generation of idiots, it is people like Anne Coulter who obviously has no real life experience. Quoting statistics and actually living life & dealing with these issues are 2 completely different things. She is a pompous ass who doesn't deserve the attention she gets because instead of focusing on real life solutions she is slamming things she doesn't understand just for shock value & attention. Fuck her & her statistics!

This priest is an idiot who abrogates his responsibility as a Christian by countermanding the clear and compassionate precepts of Scripture.
Ann is stating clear facts, which for the sake of compassion alone for future generations it would do us well to heed the lessons of history.

Ann coulter is very interesting and her topics are very Aggressive
9710h 7 months ago
The most obvious problem with what she's saying is the logic of her argument. If single motherhood was the social cause of crime, then it only stands to reason that there should have been a lot less crime in the era of 2 parent families. There was crime in the era of 2-parent families, and back in the 50s - the decade that epitomizes the family ideal ann glorifies - teen pregnancy was a lot higher than it is now, so apparently the number of parents a child has is completely irrelevent.
1985drd 7 months ago
@1985drd Your logic is off on several counts:
Your conclusion is completely unfounded.
vpassenheim 6 months ago
@vpassenheim 1. Crime was not lower. It was roughly the same. That is a conservative myth. But even if it was lower before the 1970s, it would have to not exist in order to support Coulters assertion/implication that single motherhood causes crime. Causation means that in order for A to cause B, A must precede B in time, and if A didn't exist then B wouldn't exist. But when A (singlemotherhood) didn't exist, B (crime) still existed.
1985drd 6 months ago
@vpassenheim 2. I never said that teenage pregnancy didn't result in marriage so I don't know the relevance of your second point. She's saying singlemotherhood is conducive to teenage pregnancy as a social phenomenon, but again, in order for that to be true teenage pregnancy would have to not exist before 1970, but in fact, it was much higher than it is now.
1985drd 6 months ago
@1985drd She never said that, and that doesn't even make sense. How can single motherhood be CONDUCIVE to teenage pregnancy? It may be an outgrowth of teenage pregnancy, but she doesn't even make that point.
vpassenheim 6 months ago
@vpassenheim Conducive as a social phenomenon, which she has said in other interviews. Why are you no longer responding to my other points that I beat you on?

@clarkolardo agreed!!! I've always hated Ann, especially 2 features: her annoying voice and her promoting her books everywhere.
dsim200000 7 months ago
@clarkolardo Clearly, there are exceptions to the rule. That doesn't rule out the statistic. That is the big deal. You want to talk about being frigid, hateful, etc.? What have you to say to the many thousands of victims of single motherhood - you know the ones currently sitting in jail, comprising a majority of inmates who would have stood a better chance of fleeing a life of crime had they been raised in a 2 parent home?
Let me guess, your compassion deserted you.
vpassenheim 6 months ago
@vpassenheim I agree with you ..But Coulters idea is so cut and dry..Solutions..She suggests if the father leaves , dies,ect..simply give the child up they won't have a chance at a good life..I don't know what sex you are, but could you give up your baby?..alot of people in jail also come from low income..poverty..should you give up your kid because you are poor..Ann Coulter is so heartless..angry..It makes me wonder why she is so empty? She lacks compassion. She has this God complex.
clarkolardo 6 months ago
@clarkolardo Coulter never promoted the idea that if the father's baby dies or leaves then the mother should give up the baby for adoption. She's simply commenting on the lifestyle choice of so many who have sex outside of marriage, don't intend to marry, and think it an "alternative lifestyle" to raise up a child with only 1 parent. The compassionate thing for the child, in such a situation, is that the child be given the opportunity to be raised by 2 parents who would love to have a child
vpassenheim 6 months ago
@clarkolardo

Is a better life in foster care??Ann Coulter sells books..People who love gossip and tabliods love her books..This is not christain behavior to make money off other peoples pain and personal lives

All those people saying I'm a good single parent our I'm doing great and I come from a single parent home. You are one of those lucky 3/10. For every one of you, there are more than 2 who did not turn out alright. facts are facts, whether they make you feel all warm and gooey inside our not.
SuperNache 7 months ago
@SuperNache You're awesome for stating facts.
My mom is a single mother and my dad died last October. My parents were married 16 years and now my mom had no one left; but 2 months after he died she starts dating a deadbeat whos well known around my neighborhood for being a stalker and an abuser. As an abuser he choked me 2 times and he hit my mom and slapped her in the face twice; he even got her a false imprisonment charge after he told the State Police that she hit him first (when she didn't)
dsim200000 7 months ago
@dsim200000 how old are you? 16? if so, you were raised by a complete family. You're old enough to know wrong from right and little will change you at this point. Having your mom date deadbeat for 6 months won't turn you into a hoodlum. If you are, you were like that before. The fact that your mom has bad taste in men now has nothing to do with the topic of this video.
SuperNache 7 months ago
What's worse, being raised by a single mother, or being raised by someone so totally full of hatred? What a crazy hatemonger.
kristinawhitsell 7 months ago 2
@kristinawhitsell Which statement from Ann are you referring to that is supposedly 'full of hatred'? She's simply stating the fact that the majority of criminals were raised by single mothers. You can cite any amount of anecdotes it doesn't change decades of social science data and research. She's attacking the institution of single motherhood she is not personally attacking anyone. I don't know why Ann puts up with these idiotic unemployed losers that went to 9th tier community colleges.
SquirrelTrapper 7 months ago
@SquirrelTrapper She's not merely stating the fact that "the majority of criminals were raised by single mothers." She's saying that that proves theres a cause-and-effect relationship between the two phenomena, which it doesn't. And btw if you're so interested in "decades of social science data and research" then why have you not bothered to look up the statistics on teen pregnancy? The rate of teen pregnancy has been dropping since the 70s as single-motherhood rose.
1985drd 7 months ago
@1985drd which 9th tier community college are you getting your statistics from? I have a PhD in differential topology and statistics from MIT, you don't know s*** loser.
SquirrelTrapper 7 months ago
@SquirrelTrapper Yes you certainly sound like the average holder of a PhD. most PhD holders I know throw at accusations, use ad hominem fallacies, and talk about how they hold PhDs in a forum where it can't be proven. Gee, I guess everyone who claims to hold a PhD must really hold one.
1985drd 6 months ago
@1985drd You're logic doesn't follow. Have you considered that while teen pregnancy has dropped, that the rate of teens who choose to give birth out of wedlock may have actually gone up. Also, have you also considered the possibility that more non-teenaged women (which, let's face it, makes up the majority of women actually having children - probably upwards of 90% of the total number) are giving birth out of wedlock and then raising their children without a husband?
vpassenheim 7 months ago
God, I would LOVE to ask her if she really thinks putting children up for adoption would really be better? I mean, lets put this kids up, where they may or may not be adopted. Bounced around from foster parent to foster parent. Then what about if they end up in a horrible family setting? SMDH.
Kendrewana 7 months ago 3
@Kendrewana SO true. One example of a foster child bounced around, and a famous one at that: Marilyn Monroe.
Also, it wouldn't be better. And my mother has first hand experience with this. She's single and my dad died last October. And now she's dating an abusive boyfriend who hit her and choked me and she stays with him. Social Services is involved and my family, the State, Social Services, my county prosecutor, and professional therapists have suggested that she not be with him because of me.
dsim200000 7 months ago
@Kendrewana Well if you plan for an adoption while you are pregnant you can find a nice family and choose the family yourself you are giving the child to. Bouncing around in fostercare is what happens when the child is taken away from you for some reason, not when adoption is planned beforehand.
