@KnightMD Honestly I wondered the same..They both deserved the 1st place but Boyanka's performance had something that touched me and most people as I see..She is featured in several sites with themes like ''World's Most Amazing Athlete Performances'' etc Her magical performance deserved a gold medal at ball..
I NEVER said Lukonina didn't deserve to win! Unless you can quote where I said that, you should better apologize..I just happened to like kinda more the routine of Angelova (and there're probably others who also liked that routine more for their own reasons) Everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if it is different from the mainstream...When you aren't judge or gymnast but speak about what she did ''wrong'' u seem like someone who has never played football judging Messi.. -- _ --
@margaritanoir You said "I'm sorry but I don't see how Lukonina got the gold medal with this program". This means that you didn't understand why she won.
I'm a gymnast, I didn't say I'm not.
And where did I say that you can't say your opinion? Anyway, everyone who knows the Code can notice some mistakes, the fact you have the title of judge doesn't change too much, especially given that a lot of international judges are almost totally blind.
There's difference between expressing your opinion (as I did) and being judgemental as you.. I wrote exactly what annoyed me: your comments about ''wrong'' throws and your targeting of Angelova's imperfections which wasn't nice of you no matter who won..It is normal that I wouldn't appreciate your posts, since I'm a former gymnast who participated in such events..I don't have problem even telling you my name..Gymnastics is highly antagonistic so such critics(unless from judges) are unnecessary
@margaritanoir I don't think it's important if you are a famous gymnast or if you never played this sport. You said Lukonina didn't deserve to win and Angelova deserved it, so I said that Angelova made mistakes, that's why she didn't win, and I said what mistakes. I don't think it's forbidden, and I don't think it's arrogant either, no matter if I'm a judge or not. I didn't criticize anyone, and my comments were objective, given that I only mentioned mistakes in Execution that everyone can see.
@MsTottin 4) I don't understand why you are attacking me without a reason (are you usually so touchy? I hope not). So I won't answer to you anymore. Even because another no-sense discussion started some days before, and I'm getting bored of it.
I think Lukonina made a great routine, I like her routine a lot, and I'm happy she got the gold. Someone else doesn't like this routine as I like it. That's fine.
@MsTottin Way to go, Ms! I only feel bad that without wanting to, I gave ''food'' to her provocative comments.. It's a pity to allow attention-seekers to cause such arguments under such a nice video.. I don't think she has much to do with gymnastics anyway..such a waste of time.. Next time I'll know.............
@margaritanoir Well, this the 10th year that I do RG. But as I have seen before, it's better that we close this no sense discussion, given that I will never understand what's wrong in noticing objective Execution mistakes (without debasing the gymnast, of course) in a routine, so it's useless (and quite annoying) to continue. And the same with calling me "troll" without a reason, given that I'm not offending anyone, neither a gymnast nor an user (unlikely another user who commented yesterday).;)
Angelova's ball program was much better.. Her moves were more accurate, more stable, without Lukonina's hesitation at some moments.. The music was better and the program more difficult in terms of accuracy, speed and grace.. I'm sorry but I don't see how Lukonina got the gold medal with this program that looks more like a pale imitation of Angelova's..
@margaritanoir In this competition Angelova made some mistakes, whereas Yana's moves are generally cleaner than Boyanka's ones. Besides, in 2008 juniors had 20 points of Execution. That means that a 0.20 mistake like one of Boyanka's wrong throws was penalized 0.40. And of course Lukonina was slower than Angelova, can you hear the music on which Yana is performing? -__-
And how can you say that this routine is "a pale imitation of Angelova's"? I can't see ANY similiarity in their routines.
@margaritanoir 1) I'm not acting as an expert, I was simply saying why probably Yana got a score higher than Boyanka. And the fact that I prefer Yana to Boyanka doesn't mean I'm "biased" and I cannot see if another gymnast is better than my favourite.
I think the music has much to do with the speed, IMO it's horrible to perform an element very fast if your music is slow, and so is the contrary. Anyway in the Code there isn't a deduction if you perform an Utyasheva in 5 seconds instead of 3.
@KalinkaRG I respect your view but I don't understand why you act as an expert+also ignore my right to free opinion..I'm a former gymnast age 23.I don't have any reason to support Angelova, while you're clearly biased (you uploaded quite many videos of Lukonina none of Angelova) You say you can't see any similarities..Well,gymnasts DON'T invent new elements in each competition-2gymnasts can use many same elements..Also,music has nothing to do with the speed someone Should have during an element..
@margaritanoir 2) Many elements are the same in almost all junior routines (especially ball routines) of this competition. 99% of them performed the penché turn, the penché balance, the Utyasheva elements, the backscale turn, the couchée etc. That's why I didn't understand why you saw similiarities only in Angelova's and Lukonina's routines, I didn't mean to be rude or not to respect other people's opinions, everyone can prefer the routine he/she likes more, I was just talking about scores.
@KalinkaRG Below you wrote ''I can't see any similarity in their routines(referring to Lukonina+Angelova)I'm glad you see the similarities now..As a former gymnast I won't hide that your effort to give penalties to Angelova annoyed me..And giving a statistic with the ''most popular elements'' doesn't help much either.. By stating that Angelova got a 0.40 penalty, doesn't explain why she didn't win the gold..For that we would need to analyze the final score of both..
@margaritanoir 1) I still don't find the routines similiar because they are similiar only in body elements choiche (as ALL junior routines of that competition), so I don't think a routine is an imitation of another routine.
I'm also a gymnast, and I'm not exerting to give deductions to Angelova at all. You can clearly see that Boyanka had to run two times for catching the apparatus (since two throws were wrong) and that she lost her balance during the penché balance (the balance wasn't counted).
@margaritanoir 2) Whereas Lukonina's routine was generally cleaner, even if she made some mistakes (she was losing her balance during the side scale at the end, for example).
Lukonina won especially because of her higher Execution mark, since Angelova got a higher Artistic. Angelova's starting value in D was higher, but she made mistakes and so her D mark was lower.
@KalinkaRG Good that you found the final scores cause the ''Angelova got a 0.40 penalty'' was a funny argument.. Pretending to be an expert+ gymnast on youtube is an easy thing but being there is totally different.. It appeared arrogant from your side to do the judges' job earlier and target only Angelova's ''wrong'' throws and giving her penalties.. None of the two gymnasts needs your own individual scores..As you see there are official..
@margaritanoir ??? I never tried to do "judges' job". Maybe it was you who tried to do that, since you complained about the ranks (and you had never seen the scores, and probably never opened the Code, are you sure it was me the arrogant?).
The penality of 0.20 for the wrong throw it's a matter of fact, everyone can see it. I'm not an expert or an international judge (so I've never pretended to be an expert), I just used my eyes.
@guiy16 y pensar que la tia vinner ya no pela a Lukonina, lastima aunque sinceramente la tiene muy dificil estando Dmitrieva y Kondakova compitiendo ferozmente por un lugar.
I think that this routine is physically difficult, as the routine od Boyanka is difficult for her thorws.. but what kills this routine is the music. REALLY BORING! I can't think at any gymnast who could be interesting on THIS piece! Not even Anna imo.. :/
yes is spectacular but in rhythmic gymnastics not always the spectacular is the best....the execution of lukonina's ball was better than angelova's, that why she won....however, i really prefer angelova's, her ball is out of this world
TotalDesignZ: I also prefer Angelova's routine by far, -loved the moment where she catches the ball at 19"-. That being said, kindheittraumer does have a point about her almost losing the ball in the beginning. First at around 3 secs she threw the ball to far in her opening move and had to crawl fast to reach it, and then at 13 seconds she threw the ball with her neck also far and had to run to catch it. If we can see it, so could the judges.

Vansyy, I agree, How the fuck is this better than Angelova's routine? Yana lost her balance/hesitated at least three times in this routine whereas Boyanka didn't miss a beat. Also, this was very slow and boring and Boyanka's was very nice, fast paced and extremely entertaining.
I guess just like the Athens olympics where Nemov got robbed and lost to Paul Hamm, this was the same thing. Hell, I would make a better judge and I don't know SHIT about gymnastics :(
See You Dont Know Shit About Gymnastics. Both Angelova, And Lukonina Have Extremely High Starting Values In The Difficulty Catagory, Both Were Very Clean. But When It Comes Down To Execution, Lukonina Had The Advantage Over Angelova, As She Had To Run/Scurry For Her Throws, Resulting In Small Deductions. But When There This Close, You Cant Afford To Give Away Points. Plus, Lukonina Is Russian, Of Course She Would Win.

@MsTottin 1) Check on Wikipedia the meaning of "troll", because this doesn't indicate an user "who thinks only she is right".
2) Yeah, some international judges aren't able to judge, how do you call judges in Brno 2011?
3) I'm not trying to "persuade" anyone about my opinion, because I honestly don't care if someone thinks Execution mistakes don't exist.
