Well, the truth of the matter is no one can ever really be sure unless they were there. Sometimes killing a depressed person is convenient. Overdoses and such are the commonplace with suicides, not multiple stab wounds to the chest!

But nevertheless this man was extremely fortunate -- he had the grace to have passed away leaving behind a legacy in his music. So many people leave us and all we have is a face in a photo to remember them by. This guy has his art to keep us warm on cold nights. :)

Depression can either be the result of inactivity by neurotransmitters in the brain or a lack or production of a "pleasure" hormone like serotonin. The difference between someone going through a shitty experience and someone who is clinically depressed is clinically depressed people have an inability to experience normal "pleasure induced" sensory functions. This can make you not want to eat, not want to have sex, not want to do anything normal.
