  • How can someone criticize this performance, and make comments like " he is out of tune " it´s just a guess but people who writes this kind of things are either frustrated musicians , or amateurs trying to prove whatever... if any of this guys would have ever perform this concert would be like WOW THIS PERFORMANCE IS SO AMAZING, thumbs up if you are tired of people who needs to criticize others to feel good with themselves.

  • those octaves are a bitch, im learning the piece and thats the only part im stuck on

  • @Bigbug123456 Really? I actually don't find the octaves the biggest challenge, for me it's the second section, and particularly the descending arpeggios at 1:11 are an absolute bitch! Maisky just makes it look so effortless, brilliant!!

  • it's a crime this only has just over 8000 views, & rebecca black had over 140,000,000

  • I agree with those who have observed that the intonation on this performance is a bit off (both orchestra and Maisky). Some of the final cadenzas were far off the mark. Surprising, for musicians of this calibre...

  • & watch his eyes, he knows he was just a tad off.

  • Maisky was flat on that last D. but still, if he can hit everything else in the entire concerto, i think we can let it slide :)

  • GRAET

  • he needs to work on his octaves and you have a tendency to rush. hence why we have conductors.

  • @Christiandupreemusic

How can you criticise Misha Maiski, one of the best player in the world!!! tempo isnt always the way forward, its about musicality....I rather him rush and give us wonderful music, and keeping to tempo and play like a robot.. Pablo Casal used to make the odd mistake and Fournier was breathing so loud we could barely hear him play....but they are best cellist and musician of the century!

maybe you should post your own version of the concerto on your cello....?

  • @Christiandupreemusic I hope these were sarcastic comments... Most classical era concertos were frequently performed with the soloist acting as conductor, and Maisky's octaves are definitely not something he needs to work on. This is like telling Rostropovich he needs to work on his coordination.

  • @Christiandupreemusic How about you become a world renowned cello soloist, perform this concerto 100 times, THEN come back and make the same statement!

  • Amazing! I'm not sure why though, but the orchestra and Mischa sound out of tune with each other, listen to the last note and towards the end is more noticeable, Not sure, why, don't think it's just me.

Well regardless, Maisky is an amazing cellist
