i'd use that piece of machinery...If you are in a state where it snows, put a plow on it, that would be great for moving snow. enclose the drivers seat, add a heater, a flat windshield and wiper. very nice.
if you have the money, you can build a new one.. Cat will either sell you the parts or get you the blueprints so you can have CNC machined parts made... It wont be cheap. I seen a new carbeurator for an old D6 pony engine (ordered by a customer) - over $600, back in 1998...
@kilroe3 there are companies making lawnmower sized mini dozers now, but you could also put a set of mattracks on a FWA garden tractor and get a simmiler effect.

The D-2 was the smallest crawler made by Cat, but still is a little overkill for this guy's yard.
