  • The only positive thing I have to say about this is that it's possible to recover from an enemy hit without having to be knockbacked into water like on the official versions.

  • Where can I get this?

  • what the ...

    rayman x0

  • Looks Betatastic.

  • where can i download that beta?

  • either the jaguar has crappy sound, or this beta is so early on that they still had the music bases, they just make the tempo and beat itself, instrements are added later.

  • It's like this in the final version as well. The other versions of Rayman have CD quality music, but Rayman on Jaguar was on a cartridge. It was only 4MB in size, where the other versions were like 700MB. Big cutback to be sure. Ironically, even the GBA version sounds better.

  • holy crap that's lame. even for atari's standards.

  • @granvillimus no way did the gba version sound better. gba sound was shit. this is average

  • @SuperFunnyman001 Yeah no, GBA version really did sound better in many ways. Worse issue was the sound quality which sounded echoey, but the sounds themselves were generally superior. This mostly sounds like fart noises mashed together to create music. Best thing here is the percussion beats, gives it a jungle vibe. Had it been something more like SNES sounds, it would have sounded great. As it is, GBA version music is much better (though still crappy considering what the GBA can do sound-wise).

  • @granvillimus That would be the fact that the Jaguar doesn't play the sound files in the cartridge on the System's sound processor, the cart actually has a built in sound processor bit that manages all the sounds and music in game. In conclusion, this one had differences not seen in any other version that sets it apart from the rest. The GBA version was trying to make CD quality music with a chip, which caused the quality to go down dramatically.

  • @BLEAHGames124365 That much i did not know, that the sound processor is inside the cartridge itself... GBA could have done better though IMO. I think it mostly suffered from being an early gen game. To be honest, i don't really hate the Jaguar version's music. Kind of funny in its own way. Nothing beats the original CD quality music though (which is incredible).

  • @granvillimus I'm almost positive that the processor is found in the cart itself. If it isn't, it's some really oddball way that makes it sound really weird. I just wish that more of the exclusive Jaguar parts could have found their way into the orchestration though. I also wish they could have kept the action bit at the beginning. I must ask though, are you Granville on Rayman Pirate community?

  • @BLEAHGames124365 Yep, i'm him. Surprised you know seeing as i've made only a few posts. Looking the Jaguar info up, i can't see anything referencing the sound chip being inside the cartridge itself. I'd actually think that would be pretty inefficient to be honest. I think it's in the system.

  • @granvillimus The names were similar. I'm Betaman. Now that I look at it, I think I remember it wrong. Mistake on my part. Somebody explained how it worked on my Rayman DX thread, but it's too long to post here.

  • what version is the best?

  • ps1

  • PC is. Considering later versions have a level editor its the best.

  • The PC version is dos based, won't use a USB gamepad, and has poor resolution. It's not the best by far.

  • Saturn owns Ps1 version

  • The Saturn version is best, though the PS1 version is close.

All versions are pretty much equal, to be perfectly honest, but the Saturn one just pips the top spot, due to it's superior sound.

  • i dont know i think this is the best :DDD

  • This is really cool... It's interesting to look at betas of what would later become finalized levels in video games...

  • I know I can't run Virtual Jaguar, but I just downloaded this ROM for the hell of it! :)

  • This just looks the same as the final, except for the background of the second stage being missing. And "privileged members" seems like a stretch when in actuality you gotta pay $20 to be a VIP member. This rom was just leaked today though so it doesn't matter :D

  • Hate to be a ponce but any idea on where we can get this ROM?

  • Betas are always fascinating. The game's been out since 1995, then in 2008 this appears...wow...

  • Rayma Beta for the Atari Jaguar

rayman band land gameplay vidio upload

  • Is it me or Ry has a girly voice when he gets hurt? XD

  • It isn't rayman. Just an sound effect.

  • Yeah, I know, but I mean... oh, forget it.

  • I think Raygirl13 was joking...I think.

  • Oh gawd I was just gonna go to bed and I see this... gawd

The Rayman fan community will greatly enjoy this. An awful lot.

    Thank you.

  • Cool. :)
