if you use zippo lighter fluid or similar it'll remove sticky residue or if you put it directly on the label it will also remove it, it evaporates almost instantly and leaves no noticeable smell, and you can get lighter fluid anywhere for really cheap, here in the states every dollar store has some..... just saying it might be cheaper in the long run.....
@gunfuego NICE hint - thanks - I have some Zippo lighter fluid and will try it out on my next tin - do you know if it is OK to use to remove a Label stuck on top of another label ? - thanks
@FlankerTanker I'm not sure but you can try it then let other label dry out maybe? It also works on wax, gum, tree sap, tar, oil stains, paint, ink stains, greasy items like bike chains and cleans guns, tools, and probably more but that's what I've used it for so far...
@gunfuego This sounds great - I won't need to spend money or another spray like the one in the video ever again - Just as long as I have my ligther fluid and I always have a spare can in the store for my Zippos - - great and once again thanks...
This really is annoying, isn't it. I noticed this some years ago while traveling in Canada, Switzerland and Germany. There are talking about doing this on cigarettes in the USA, but there has been some legal push back. I noticed in Canada that everywhere they sell the obnoxious cigarette packs that they sell inexpensive sleeves to cover them, so I suppose that a similar cottage industry will spring up here when the new packs get introduced. Anyway, good solution on the tins.
@Alrold How can they do that? Never mind; I suppose they can do whatever they want because the public has abdicated all personal responsibility and choice to their authority. That's sad.
@Aristocob - once the UK SMOKING KILLS label is removed the tins still have a warning from California - but it's quite acceptable and not shoved into your face in bold BLOCK TEXT - as if you are an idiot - so Idon't mind that it becomes part of the tin label and to me that is acceptable - still at least I can remove the stick on labels and thats good news..... .
@thegeneral123 I see - yes I made and saved the film - and deleted the original footage - then found an error - so I had to load the saved finished movie - re edit and save again - so it has been saved three times - and it must lose qulaity each time - sorry about that - but comment noted...
its there for reason, the reason? so they don't get sued from someone getting cancer and potentially dieing..they cant remove it.. just saying not hating.
@johnathon15walters - I hear you - and no hate taken :-) I can't help feeling that this is another example of our Nanny State - by all means make a warning statment but why like this - for example the tins I have show here with the BIG BLACK LETTERING REMOVE - still have a health warning - and I can still read it - but it's not shoved in my face... and why on the BOTTOM of a tin - and why a nasty picture - I mean do they really think we are that stupid that we need pictures ! ?

I'm pretty sure they have to do this, in order to prevent lawsuits.

@FlankerTanker I know for most people the adverts have little effect. They are mainly targeted at younger people before they start the habit.
