how the fuck did i end up here...was looking for fender coronado ii...now im back in the 80S..oh yeah...martin phillips had a fine example..in the purple blue...does he still have it????
it's spelled "You're". "You're just trolling away here". I guess you reached "mega fuckwit status" long ago, say 2 years ago when you started "trolling" this video and telling people they smell of "faeces" (chills fans aren't really very sophisticated are they?). So far I've upset 2 of the stupidest people I've ever come across on the web, and they both think the Chills are "brilliant". I can see why a coupla tontos like you would think that but to publicly proclaim it? Mission accomplished.
@baburjabal yes we love sheep and ... the chills right lol.. your racist ive lived in aus for 7 years but im back in NZ now.. so what.. lol your my hero
Granted a competent chord & wordsmith nevertheless Martin Phillipps has been cursed throughout his career by a sort of banal marginality. He *almost* but never *quite* gets there. Too in touch w/ his feminine side his creatively whiny, pseudo-sensitive pretty pop w/ that silly creepy dark mysterious side is just a bit 2 contrived. I start to want to smack him after a while. But he does have his moments & has w/ some competent musicians managed 2 make himself a historic figure of 80s indie-pop.
they're old but they're better than many band from the music scene of this year.i discover the chills when i was 17 YO and i was soon taken by their great style.i'm sorry that here in italy people don't know this great band.but i'm glad to hear them.
@kieran9093 you also can ask did he ever write a really good song? Can't say I think so. His music is a working example of Marc Bolan's "disposable music" concept, sans Bolan's genius. Clever with moments of noble originality, it ends up smelling a bit too strongly of derivative wank.
@baburjabal You're the definition of an armchair critic - have you ever written anything as good as Pink Frost, Look For the Good in Others, Heavenly Pop Hit, I Love my Leather Jacket, Male Monster from the ID etc? I doubt it.
@baburjabal So you define a good song as a "hit"? Some of the best bands ever have never had hits (The Chameleons, Buffalo Tom AND The Chills) but that doesn't mean the best songs are hits and are not famous. Marc Bolan has his own TV show? So does Miley Cyrus, does that make her a good artist? No.
@GlassHopperYouth you must be from New Zealand, kiwis always have an inferiority complex because the best rock and roll comes from (in order of importance) the USA, Great Britain & Australia. New Zealand ranks down there somewhere with Japan (wets wock n woll!) and Lichtenstein (essenscheisse).
ok moron, listen carefully, Marc Bolan is dead. You obviously have no idea who he was or why the comparison w/ wanky Martin Phillips is appropriate. (which is fucking pathetic)
@baburjabal Actually, I'm from Great Britain. I know Marc Bolan is dead, the s and d on a keyboard are next to each other (hence the has/had). Marc Bolan can be classed as glam rock. Can Martin Phillips? I think not. Anyway, do you have any idea who the artists I referenced are/were? Probably not. Calling Martin Phillips "wanky" doesn't shed a good light on you, given that you're the one in an armchair critisising the one who wrote songs you can only dream of writing. Moron.
@baburjabal you come up smelling a bit too much of your own faeces. Go and watch some reruns of Marc Bolans obviously brilliant tv show and leave the rest of us to appreciate the brilliance of The Chills
@kieran9093 oh dear, I've touched a nerve. 2 wanky chills fans have taken offense! Maybe that's because what I said is true? I'd say so. Mission accomplished!
Sure, ok, whatever you say, the chills are "tip-top".
"singing in my sleep, songs of such beautiful wankiness..."
@baburjabal not really - your just here trolling away. Your mission is accomplished - you have reached mega fuckwit status - congratulations. *Claps & cheers*
Said it before, I'll say it again, Martin Phillips of the Chills is perhaps the best songwriter since Bob Dylan. Buy the Chills --Brave Words, Submarine Bells, Soft Bomb, all of their albums!
what guitars ?one looks like my fender coronado?the production is so bad .sub bells is great sound though..he should go solo as martin phillips and lay the chills name to rest

but I'd BEAR my mind to you..."
~Nice kiwi pronunciation!
This version sounds strange to me; I'm used to the album mix, which has much more reverb.
Lovely stuff inanycase, thanks Tweepopstar!
