@TootyFruity050197 Do you see the instrument name on the top right corner? It should be there after you DOUBLE-CLICK on an instrument name. Then click on a virtual key or your Midi. Contact me if you need help.

Cakewalk, you say you can record real instruments in Music Creator 5 but I don't see that option.. I have a Saffire PRO 40 audio interface and I can't find any controls to grab a hold of my mics connected via XLR cable.

OK i've had cakewalk 3 but never used it because it really confuses me. I don't have any midi controls, i/e an actual hardware device, so I try to input everything using only the staff feature which I do enjoy. The problem I am facing is trying to get it to play tracks at the same time. Like I'll have one of the tracks set but when I try to open another it doesn't play both, in fact only the one track plays. This is very frustrating. I have other programs for drums but I can't do as much.

@6913kenny - Thus far, I'd have to rate it a zero. I feel as if I have wasted my money. Outside of simply recording from a line in, or importing audio, I haven't been able to get this software to do a damn thing. Those 2 things it will do, Audacity does, too. And Audacity is free, has an unlimited number of tracks, and is far simpler to use.

I have this music creator 5 and I cant record at the same time as listening without using the echo button. But I want to hear the recording at the same time as playing with no echo. Does anyone know how I can do this?

It sounds like you might not have set up your input/output properly. On the track you want to record, click input/output and make sure your correct settings are selected. Sometimes it defaults to "None". Also, make sure you turn off your echo when testing for sound and that the levels are moving (even though you may not here anything). I hope this helps!

@BadComparison Check the driver mode. In MC5, Go to Options-Audio-Advanced, change your driver mode from MME or WDM, to ASIO. Run the Wave Profiler. Close MC5, Restart, try the task again.

@FragmentedMemory Yes, you can import MIDI files made from other programs... you can use the media browser (at the bottom of the screen)to drag and drop the files from your desktop into the program.

There is an option on your MC5 disc to install 'SoundCenter'. If you downloaded the program, it comes in two files one of which is 'SoundCenter'. Once installed, re-open MC5. Go to OPTIONS > GLOBAL > VST PLUGINS and click on the SCAN VST Folders button... After the scan, Cakewalk Sound Center will show up under INSERT > SOFTSYNTHS > SOUNDCENTER

Yes, you can assign MC5 and it's soft synths to your keyboard. Tutorials 4 and 8 in the help guide that came with the product, show you step by step how to achieve this.

I upgraded to MC 5 from MC 3. I had no problem registering or getting any of the plug-ins to load. I love making original dance tracks and hip-hop/rap tracks with this software. It is awesome for $40 I paid for it. If you know nothing about making digital music you should read the help guide. My tracks sound professional. Thanks to all the guys at Roland.

i bought this 2 or 3 months ago. after trying 3 stores, i finaly found it and payed 40 bucks for it. for a while i had a hard time loading it and getting it to work right. then i had to register it. this took foooorrrrevvvver. but when the hard stuff was done, i started recording music. guitar and vocals were great. now my problem, the drum machine on the software. i could make the beats, but i couldnt put them in with the tracks. i still cant today. its honestly a really annoying software.

I received a copy of Music Creator with my V-Studio 100, but I do not see Cakewalk Sound Center under the new track menu (Cakewalk TTS-1 is there, for example). How do I acquire Sound Center or add it as an option in the menu?

The download version of MC5 ships in 2 files. The main program (320 MB) and Cakewalk Sound Center (214 MB). Did you download both files?
