  • ... and up goes Her Royal Highness...

  • In any other film this scene would look silly, but here it's simply damn "cool".

  • i do speech training and my teacher makes me jump about!!

  • @partygirl209 yeh cause your a dick head

  • @03hazz why?!?!?

  • @03hazz

    bbeerrrttyyyy

  • I AM DOVAVHKIIN, I AM DRAGON BORN, DA BA MAHHH!!!!!

  • @TheRyster11 Sir you stole my words...but there should be "DA MA BAHHH!"

  • It's actually quite good fun. Love the way the Brits talk.

  • HBC = my idol!! <3

  • gah! mah! bah!

  • up comes her royal highness... and down comes her royal highness...

  • Are these techniques still used by speech therapists today? For that matter, were they ever used by speech therapists? For that matter, am I even spelling the word therapist right?

  • @Cerberusballs Yes, not just by speech therapists, but in some psych therapists (good for confidence), Yes they were use and yes you spelt therapist correctly. :)

  • DA!BAH!MAH! x'DDDDDDD

  • and up comes her royal highness

  • 'This is quite good fun!'

    hah I love Helena :)

  • 0:21 What is the song called? Can anyone tell me?

  • @EmilyBlack01 The Logue Method ....from 1:18

  • I wish I was a British after watching this film.

  • I'd kill to sit on Colin Firth!

  • Love these excersises! Why can't I do these for voice lessons?!

  • @TheBlackRibbonedRose Because they are speech exercises, not voice exercises :)

  • THE KING OF ENGLAND... LOL

  • @SamhainTheDark

@0:25 he says "went up the hill"

    :)

  • i would think it was quite good fun if i was sitting on colin firth 2

  • Dock and Jale went up the hill

  • shake weight

  • I just saw this movie tonight the audience was in tears, very moving, and you could have heard a pin fall to the ground, dead silent all through the movie, this is a gem of a film, really fantastic!

  • 0:25 What's that he's saying?

  • @SamhainTheDark hes saying "who put her in. little tommy thin"

  • 0:29 makes me laugh no matter how many times I watch it :) It's just so amusing.

  • Just to clarify, the music in this scene is NOT the "Marriage of Figaro" overture, it's the first movement of the Clarinet Concerto, also by Mozart. The "Marriage of Figaro" overture is used in the scene where Bertie records himself speaking.

  • Beautiful! And Mozart's "Figaro" on the backround...Just perfect!!!

  • My Favorited part is at 0:19

  • i'm in love with colin firth

  • 00:21, is that a boom mic??

  • @achrismascarol no its supposed to be a small aircraft..

  • *singing*Roll Roll Roll your king gently on the rug!

  • Wow! 2010 was the best year for cinema in a LONG time!

    The King's Speech

    Inception

    The Social Network

    Toy Story 3

    How To Train Your Dragon

    127 Hours

    & many more!

  • What is Bertie saying when he is rolling on the floor towards Mr. Logue?

  • - Are u OK Bertie?

    - Yesss ..

    HAHAHAHA

  • This clip automatically brings a smile to any clarinetist who hears the Clarinet Concerto in A Major by Mozart.

  • Interestingly, Helena Bonham Carter is the great grand daughter of HH. Asquith, PM during the first half of WW1 and one of the PMs under George V's rule.

  • hehehehehehehe...flabby tummy ^^

  • I love the scene where Bertie starts cussing My mother was practically in tears after that part!

  • thats what she said

  • very good film. i laughed many more times in this than in so-called "comedies". yet, did i think it was the best film of 2010? No, Inception was much better (didn't care much for toy story 3 or the Social network). But at the same time it's good to watch a good period piece of which there are so few these days.

  • You really can't see any real characters in Star Wars, do you? And what is a film without real characters? George Lucas never had a feeling for the deepness of characters and that is what makes Star Wars a movie which gives you no feeling at all. My opinion.

  • I had a crippling stutter as a child and thought this film would be an inspiration to other sufferers. What a disappointment, piossibly the weakest Oscar winner ever! In years when there's no outstanding movie the prize SHOULDN'T be awarded or it becomes meaningless

  • @dimgwalltameiben Are you serious? This movie was brilliant. It didn't need all the flashy effects and action to be a good story. It deserved the Oscar 100%.

  • @doggieyo This film will be forgotten in 12 months. Guns of Nav, Some like it hot, The Graduate. Star Wars Jaws etc etc are timeless classics that DIDN'T win best picture ........ yet King's Speech won by default ........yeah it;s watchable but to put it the "Great Movies" category is ridiculous

  • @dimgwalltameiben yes the graduate and jaws are great movies and are classic but to say that this isn't a a brilliant movie is ridiculous. It didn't win by default it won because it was a wonderfully written story and it is portrayed brilliantly. Stars Wars is great but shouldn't be best picture...It will not be forgotten this movie also because it is helping so many people and connecting with them. I value your opinion but this movie did not win by default. Brilliant.

  • @dimgwalltameiben

In hindsight I think Star Wars is pretty childish. So is Jaws, and we can thank that lame film for all the baseless paranoia today regarding sharks.

  • @loner1878 The point is, 30 plus years on, you've heard of Jaws and Star Wars. hardly a week passes without them being re run somewhere in the world on some obscure channel. King's speech is a watchable film, but will people in Argentina or Korea be watching it in 2045?

  • @dimgwalltameiben

Guess we'll have to wait and see. Who's to say they'll still watch Jaws or Star Wars in 2045 either?

  • @dimgwalltameiben "The King's Speech" is a classic, & people will be watching it in 30 years for sure.

P.S. Both "Star Wars" & "Jaws", are classics, the world should unanimously agree on that, but I don't think "Star Wars" is quite worth a Best Picture award. Same with "Jaws".

  • @dimgwalltameiben You must be joking.

  • Mozart's Clarinet Concerto distracts me from watching the movie.. i focus on trying to hear the clarinet and forget to watch

  • The King was person who eventually felt free. He enjoyed the kind of freedom that is like being on top of a helium balloon. He also read one minute daily affirmations designed to cultivate self confidence. Check out: Amazon. "Little Gifts of Sustainable Contentment." by C.J. Good. The contentment we desire exists on many levels: Emotional, financial, intellectual, physical, spiritual and social. The King found contentment, by changing his thoughts and beliefs. • Flabby tummy?! LOL

  • Someone needs to upload the bit where they practice swearing.

  • @Pentarax

    yeah right!I agree!it's hilarious..lol lol

  • @Pentarax and the speech itself, although i bet its not allowed as it may spoil it for the people who haven't seen the film

  • @Pentarax youtube.com/watch?v=xJvGE7Vvd4M for the cussing scene.

  • @Pentarax /watch?v=RhddWJs0z08&list=FL5Km9EhiC0wwvJisE1zfG-Q&index=2

  • what an absolutely incredible film! no, seriously, it's about to become my all-time favourite one soon.

watching this i completly forgot it's Colin like i was sure it's King George.

  • "You allright Bertie?" Yes! "This is actually quite good fun.". Loved this movie. Colin Firth is hot!!

  • Oh, man...I felt so bad for him in the movie :( Loved the last speech though...

  • @652ndkennard

Could have been worse. He could have been American.

  • @625ndkennard

oh wow.... the glorious king george!....king of the dominions of great britain and the self-proclaimed "emperor of india" ...was actually nothing more than a stuttering pasty-faced english limey pussy milksop who couldnt be torn away from his mothers teats....

Actually, he was a naval captain who, in the tradition of British leaders, served bravely in the armed forces in the defence of his people.

You lot produced George Bush, and other assorted chickenhawks. Well done.

  • @Isaacnibblets

Realistically, there have been many great Americans. Its just the recent few generations that are disappointing.

  • and up comes her royal highness, and down goes her royal highness!! :)LOL

  • helena is awesome i need to see this movie xx

  • thumbs up if you watched this clip 30 times XD

  • @rkelly201

    Mozart's Clarinet Concerto allegro

  • anyone know what song is playing in this clip?

  • @652ndkennard well logue was an aussie speech therapist and australia were part of the british dominion. so you could say that king george was lucky

  • Please! the movie is exactly about that! i.e. you cannot overcome those problems if you focus ONLY in "mechanical factors" Go and watch the movie, please!

  • Haha... bringing back Porky the Pig humor is going to be brilliant!

  • Speaking as a stammerer, I take issue with this sort of thing being shown - as entertainment - make the stammerer look like a total twit. Some 'theparist' doing this to him and feeling very smug thinking that the stammer is a physical issue that canbe overcome with a load of daft 'exercises'. I endured a similar experience, and had to tell the 'therapist' that she was grasping the wrong end of the stick entirely. The stammer is a SYMPTOM of a combination of emotional and/or medical problems

  • @HaFannyHa I stammer as well and I could not disagree with you more. This looks to me to be an honest portrayal of a king overcoming his biggest fear. Obviously this scene has a bit of a comedic twist but go see the movie before you make your final decision. I promise you this movie will be much more then the scene you see here.

  • @HaFannyHa Have you even seen the film before you made this judgement? I think you will find that they deal with a lot more, and touch on the emotional issues too.

  • And tears to my eyes too from only the trailer. I speak daily to my clients about diaphragm breathing and about developing, exercising and maintaining the voice. And speaking in public - why? because you can! And because the quickest way for you to get to where you want to be in life is to learn to think on your feet, chose the right words and speak with confidence!

  • @asf4321 Fuck off troll. You just want attention. What a pile of shit you are trying to make a pathetic attempt at a joke.

  • @asf4321 Go die in a hole.
