A friend of mine asked once How I could leave my daughter at home and run into a burning house knowing that I may never make it back to my daughter. My answer to him was this: Every firefighter is a father, mother, sister, brother, son, daughter, etc that hears a call for help and chooses to answer it. I hope that there is always somebody ready willing and able to answer that call. One day it maybe him calling.

I'm a volunteer firefighter, although I'm not yet allowed to do interior work (not yet certified), when ever I go on a call I repeat this in my head. People tell me that putting my life on the line for "free" is noble. I never know what to say other than "Saving a life has no cash value to me."

My fire department is volunteer but when the call goes out I'm the first at the station read to get in any vehicle that's going on a run. Granted I don't have full training by I get the job done like everyone else and save lives. I'm also a fire-rescue operator and driver for my department

my dad got the hero award for saving his whole group in a burning building he got em out and just as they got out of the room the cieling collapsed in that room which would have been... bad. i went on calls with him for a few days with him and his group (it helps when your group is hilarious) and now all i want to do is become a firefighter ONLY 2 more years until i can :D

My father just past away from a !0+yrs battle of Huntingdons Disease. He was In the US Navy and served on the USS Forrestal during the Karean War. He was also an Avid Firefighter before this disease took over his body. He will Always be remembered as "Rocky"! R.I.P. daddy! We will meet again some day! July 11, 1950 - July 1, 2011! My boyfriend, my dad, and I are all Volunteer Firefighters. This song definately lives up to what we do. Once firefighting gets into your blood, you never want to quit and you are completely in love with it. And the bond that all of us firefighters share is extremely strong. I would never quit from the department. I am absolutely in love with it :)
