Do you find yourself getting nice depth of field with this camera? I'm debating over getting this or the 7D because the 7D gets you that really like DOF, although I'm not sure that justifies it over the limitations of filming with a DSLR. Can you get a nice film look with this camera without an adaptor/filters?
hmmm. I'm tempted to say that you should probably shoot in 30p and encode to 24p in post; or convert to 24p using Twixtor. That might eliminate the strobing going on in this picture. Panasonic is notorious for jittery strobing in with their 24p modes!
I didn't realize that we have that exact same couch until I saw it in HD. I guess HD streaming is useful for something! (Still droling over my future HMC150)
What other settings did you use? I assume CINE V or D and/or a CINELIKE gamma? Did you boost the gain or use an ND filter? Color temps look quite high on the natural light but everything interior still quite visible, nicely done!
could you tell me why I would or wouildn't want the HPX170 over this camera? Will I notice the 100mb data rate on the HPX vs the 35mb data rate on the HMC? Thanks! Looks great. So short though! lol.
I would have to disagree. The HMC can definitely be used and has been used on short films, corporate videos, music videos, etc. Shorts have won at Sundance that have been shot on the Dvx100.
Do have experience using the HMC? It is a fantastic camera. Definitely far beyond youtube quality.
Obviously HPX is the superior camera, and if you can afford it I'd definitely go for that. But the HMC is a pretty close rival. The image on my 52" HD TV is amazing. Colors are extremely vivid.
@bouchandre Is it youtube 720p that makes it more clear, or is it just the camera :)

when the video started it was in 360p, I was like omg it's horrible. But then I put it in 720p and I was like holy shit it's fucking awesome

The HMC150 is better, but you will need a more powerful computer to edit with.

I used Final Cut Studio 2. Transfer to Pro Res 422 and editing is a breeze. I've had no problems and my MacBook Pro is 3 years old.
Great camera I would highly recommend. Footage obviously looks even better than uploaded to youtube even in HD.
