The show is quite informative and does an excellent job of allowing the viewer to get to know both Anna as well as Dr Chao. I would have appreciated hearing more of the downsides of laser eye surgery- the portion showing Anna's friend with some knives was comical but somewhat pointless. The video failed to take into account the possibility of blindness due to laser eye surgery. Nevertheless, the comparison of ten years' worth of eye care versus the price of surgery was a great point.
I am very thankful for Lasik eye surgery, my mother was having issues with her vision, and I heard about this amazing treatment. After long conversation I convinced her to participate in Lasik, and she says it was one of the best decisions of her life! You will not regret getting this amazing surgery.
Since I was 5 years old, I've been wearing glasses. I would love nothing more than to be free of glasses and contacts. This video was no less than encouraging and reassuring. I would be the first to go in for a consultation with Dr. Chao's firm. And if he said I was a good candidate, I would do it without question. I would feel comfortable on Dr. Chao's table and would tell my friends about his firm!
I have an aunt who got the lasik surgery about four years ago and she reccomends it to people who find glasses to be in the way of thier everyday lifestyle. I recommend that you see your eye doctor first and ask as many questions as you can. I wanted to get the lasik, but after a recent eye exam I was told that I would not be able to get it because my cornea is very thin. I feel that if the doctor says you are a good candidate, GO FOR IT!
If only her mother could see her way clear to encourage her daughter to get the lasik surgery, she might also see her way to benefit from lasik surgery herself! It is definitely the something to do for the whole family needing sight!
Forget contacts and glasses! One took me time every morning and night with unforeseen problems throughout the day (pun intended). The other smudged, bent, I couldn't lay down to watch TV. I got Lasik and now I just don't worry about it!
I just got Lasik done by Dr. Chao and he's AWESOME! He walked me through everything and nothing was rushed. He's very methodical and gives you full attention, so I wasn't very nervous. :-)
It appears to me that Anna's frontal lobes (and everything else for that matter :) ARE fully developed! She approached her surgery methodically, did her research and found a reputable Dr. to perform her lasik surgery. As a blurry eyed, contact wearing, surgery phobic squinter, I found the step-by-step visual of the process reassuring. I am hoping that the "hand holding" during the procedure is commonplace throughout the industry. I'm sold! I just stuck my contacts on to my computer screen!
My mom got Lasik eye surgery and it has changed her life for the better! I say go for it if it makes you happy then do it :) It seems like Anna is doing her research and people who are thinking of doing this will benefit as well.
I think Dr. Chao should greet his "candidates" with those rockstar sun glasses on. I mean, those are by far the biggest perk of the surgery. I guess living without sight glasses is pretty profound as well.
I have a gf who just got lasik from Dr. Chao. Great work, great ethics, great office! I'm glad she got the work done b/c it changed her lifestyle...for the better! It really makes me happy to see that my gf is happy! =)
As someone who has been wearing glasses since the ripe age of 6, I can identify with Anna's craving to have perfect vision. I, however, have found plenty of reasons to remain happily four-eyed.If your eyes really are the window to your soul, would you want just anybody looking in? Think about the curtains on your bedroom window:they're pretty important, right? Aside from ensuring privacy when closed, they serve as decoration. So upon seeing someone hot, looking up is like opening your curtains.
I loved at the beginning of this video... you see the Dad trying to quietly eat his ice cream. You can tell Mom is the disciplinarian in this family! Poor guy probably didn't even want to go. Brilliant placement of the Yale sign for the knowledgeable man. He looks like a very studious gentleman. Are these dating prospects for her too? It's obvious which one is the "catch". Anna is really a super cute girl she is definitely the right girl for this show!!!
This video provides some great, accurate information regarding the process of LASIK. It is not a decision to be taken lightly, as shown shown here. The success rate for this surgery has been outstanding. As always, be sure to build a relationship with your doctor, don't just go to a retail chain just to save a few bucks. You'll be saving money in the long run. Amounts paid for glasses and contact lenses add up over the years. And the feeling you get from clear vision without aids? Priceless!
I figure if hindsight is 20/20, and knowledge is power, silence is golden, and discretion the better part of valor, than laser eye surgery is worth two birds in the bush...
Perhaps your primary concern, Anna, should not be laser eye surgery, but the fact that you're consuming shoe-box-sized blocks of lasagna. If you're gong to insist on portions the size of a cinder block, could it at least be carrot lasagna? Forget Lasik, let he carrots do the job for you. At these quantities, you should be able to see the Mars Rover in a couple of weeks.
wow, that little girl was just a LITTLE too excited about that lasagna. she sure doesn't need any lasik the way her eyes were popping out at that plate. calm down!
For anyone thinking about doing this, watch this video. Anna's step-by-step will definitely help you make up your mind!
Also, it's not about vanity, it's about convenience. Imagine how great it is to wake up every morning and not have to fish around for your glasses or stagger to the bathroom to put on contacts. What about not relying on lenses to see leaves on trees or drive a car? As someone with perfect vision, I welcome Anna to the club.
Since when did Lasik surgery become as superficial as nose jobs and tummy tucks? I thought it was for people who Really needed it! Performing lasik surgery on someone who's that young because of vanity against glasses is as ridiculous as giving a toddler liposuction!
What are you talking about? She knew what she wanted and went for it! If you're going to pay that much for surgery, you might as well enjoy as many years of that new vision as possible.
You are missing my point! She didn't Need the surgery! She just wanted it, I think she looked cute and kinda sexy in glasses. And if you actually knew anything about Lasik surgery you would know it was originally for the elderly who's vision was beyond aid from glasses! THAT IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!
Why was there a Yale sign behind the asian guy she was interviewing? Isn't the kind of redundant?
Before you get on me about asian stereotypes, this video did nothing to help: her soft-spoken asian father, the yellow shirt she wore, and the fact that the dad crashed the CR-V at the end. I know they didn't show it, I just had a feeling.
Mitchypwns, you sound like a babbling fool, rambling about disconnected ideas and hackneyed stereotypes in a pathetically failed attempt at being funny. The only thing that is funny about your posting is how unfortunately unintelligent you sound. Can you yourself even figure out what your point was? Oh, but I do see what you are saying about that yellow shirt. Im sure that Annas yellow shirt screams out Asian stereotype to everyone who has seen this.

haha you need to calm down...i think you missed the point of the post that was supposed to make fun of stereotypes...i know exactly what my point is...OBVIOUSLY an asian wearing a yellow shirt means NOTHING but for some reason asian is associated with yellow...maybe it was cuz they yellow power ranger was yellow...i dont know but before you start attacking me for being stereotypical try lightening up a bit huh?
what insight. The "yellow" stereotype for Asians began with the yellow power rangers. PS. It would be a compliment for me to attack you as being stereotypical. Your formulation of words doesn't amount to anything but disjointed, pointless rambling.
why did you have to PS that...you could have just included it in your original post...so you weren't saying i'm stereotypical? so you are accusing me of being a rambler? i don't see how there's not a point...maybe you could help me collect my thoughts and form them into something coherent that you can understand..i would appreciate it
Like most people, I have fears of surgery. Given that I am still young and have good vision, the thought of glasses is something I fear as well. This video dives into the drama surrounding LASIK surgery, and it seems that the parents were the only ones standing in the way of things. In the end, Anna becomes transformed with her newfound vision. I wouldn't mind getting lasik surgery when I need it.

Anna Yu with Somthing To Do - it rhymes, how cute! This is exactly how my LASIK experience went: parents hated the idea, surgeon thought it was a great idea. I went ahead with it and the results were great!
.... for about two years.
PS: I was 23 too, so Anna should start saving up for round two ASAP!
There's something intriguing about eating a candy shaped eyeball. I have to say watching this beautiful woman eating that odd treat gives new meaning to the term "eye candy".
Near the end Anna said, "I think I still look pretty trendy right now, with these glasses here." Anywhere else, she would be seen as someone with eye problems, but here in the Bay she's just another girl wearing cool looking stunner shades.
When talking to her mother, Anna's mom did bring up a good point that a person's brain isnt fully developed until 25, but then she brought the whole presidential age requirement, and I think if Anna had waited until she was 25, her mom would have given some other excuse. I think she was just scared because she wasn't informed. But that's where Anna showed intelligence. By sitting down with Dr. Choa, she did the best thing anyone can do when making a serious decision: inform themselves!
Very well put together informative wise Anna. It's not just information, it has a mix of a fun atmosphere also. Although I did notice something wrong. The home made Lasik eye surgery isn't $300, it's $150. Haha.
I would tell everyone about this youtube service. Very diverse, open minded, and funny. Anyone who doesn't like this doesn't know how to have fun.
Very easy and fun to follow. I think that the overall humor of this video made something that some may consider monotonous or convoluted, into something that gains your interest even for viewers who don't consider LASIK surgery. This gives everyone an actual picture of how this operation functions. And can have the ability to make viewers consider LASIK even if they don't have bad eye sight. Very informative and clever!
Warm, funny and beautiful Anna Yu navigates the ins and outs of LASIK surgery. From her disapproving mom to her ultimately supportive dad who holds her hand during the surgery, we get an up-close-and-personal view of what this procedure is like. We even get to see a close-up of the surgical procedure itself. It demystifies this operation without either glorifying it or scaring people off. You get a real hit of what this might actually be like.
That was hilarious. Her parents are like something out of a quirky independent movie. You dont even consider maturity and judgment until youre 25. And the dad just sits there and says nothing! Not to mention the guy who suggests spending thirty bucks and doing the surgery yourself. I have to say, I know a few people who have gotten Lasik, and this looks like an Alice in Wonderland version of it.
Anna!!!! man long time since you posted, i think you look beautiful!!!!! haha your mom is so intellectual, and your dad is like my dad. seems like he had the least say between your parents.
im really glad everything turned out okay and well though! ive been thinking about getting a lasik surgery, but im still 18. gotta wait for my "judgment lobe" to kick in! :)
