  • dare you to drink it...

  • Nerds.

  • @MrFatsBOY nerd rule this planet thx to apple, microsoft, and sony.

  • Officialspaceefrain, try prolonged exposure. Touching mercury isn't safe because handling it with a cut or what not can cause health problems, but as long as you don't drink it or anything stupid like that you won't DIE

  • 0:10

    lol wut

  • that is galyum

  • @dukilaki no, Gallium is not what this is, you can tell tbecause gallium has less suface tension and would fling around alot more.

  • @dukilaki No, it can't be gallium because gallium wets glass and has a much higher surface tension than what we see in the video!

  • As the bottle breaks.

    Oh noes!

  • one wiff of tthat whippersnapper and your gone baby

  • @officialspaceefrain

would inhailing fumes of mercury kill you?

  • Drink It!

  • It won't kill only when its a vapor trust me done it nothing scientifically proven but it does hurt when you shit

  • @Daflaminasian So even if i leave my hand inn it for hours without breathing, i will still be fine?

  • well you still have to breathe tho since its mercury your body won't absorb it actually skin is designed to keep out liquid most of the time it becomes pruny because moisture is being taken out and gets traped in the skin layer under the epidermis

  • lol the tube of stuff died in the background at 0:10

  • Rofl, xD

  • dont worry, its only fluorine

  • lol i killed it

  • hahahha

  • is it heavy?

  • Yes, mercury ist very heavy, Iron and Lead can swim on it because of its density.

  • @911omg:

Said the guy with a runescape vid in his profile. (and it doesnt matter if you remove it, you failed already)

  • haha wat a fuckin fag. 911omg, not u man.

  • @il3bood10 Can you idiots stop posting that on every mercury video.

  • drink it

  • lol, my friend too

  • @tapefilms If it's pure elemental mercury then you can drink it safely as it will just pass through your system. You can also play with it in your hands.

  • Is that magnetic?

  • no its not

  • More like...WTFBOOOM?...like..in..the..youtube poop....ahh never mind ^.^'''

  • 0:10 LOL nuclear explosion !! boooooom "aaa, aaaaa!!!" =))

  • ???

  • I remember playing with the stuff from a broken thermometer too. pushing it around the floor with bare fingers.

  • I once broke an old themometer along with my sis and found this stuff. We didn't know it was toxic and played with it with our bare hands. We were fine afterward. Lucky I guess.

But now I realize most people haven't touched it with there bare hands because it's toxic. I remember it being very light-weight and cool to the touch.

  • It was light?

    I thought mercury was heavy?

Maybe it wasn't mercury. That might be why you didn't get poisoned.

  • hmmm. Well we didn't have a whole lot and I thought that too, but it had all the same properties as mercury. I considered Gallium, but it would have solidified on the kitchen floor once we took it out of our hands.

But mercury is mostly toxic as a fume or if ingested anyway.

  • I also played with mercury with bare hands as a child. i remember we were pushing it around the floor with our fingers

  • You remind me when I was a kid I ate that stuff that said "Do not eat" "Keep out of reach of children"

  • Well, I don't think it would poison you if you didn't ingest it, inhale it, expose it to broken skin, or otherwise get any of it into your bloodstream, but you were still lucky.

  • argh why do my replies never work

  • Apparently it can seep into the pores of your skin and poison you that way as well.

  • a ghost !! lolz tht was weird ! i mean the bottle juss falls over randomly !

  • *Sigh* people are just getting dumber and dumber these days....

  • I was kidding, god. Stop jumping to conclusions.

  • If i was there, i would have stolen that beautiful mercury

  • lol nerds

  • Comment removed

  • The person in the background doesn't put the jar in the little hole, but rather right next to it.

    MOTHERFUCKER

  • i was thinking the same thing haha

  • That element in the back just wanted some attention.

  • cool, are that behind you samples from evry metal on the periodic table?

  • DUDEthats fucking awsome

  • drink it !!so you can not put more vids on you tube

  • cool~

i always thought mercury was red 0.0

  • No, mercury is what used to be in thermometers, NOW they use alcohol dyed red

  • GO GEEKS!!!

  • im a geek to so we're all together in life

  • no offence but these peeps are kinda geeky but cool

  • YEP, an if it wasnt for geeks you wouldnt be using that computer ur using... or most of the techno shit we all have...

  • Help us! The iron fell over!

  • mercury is a neurotoxin that they put in fillings for some crazy reason. That toxic shit is right in your mouth. killing your brain

  • This is gonna sound really wierd...

    but is liquid mercury wet?

cause water is wet... and liquid, and most liquids are wet, but I don't know if that applies to metal.

  • no it doesn't wet skin or glass. but it might wet some things

  • Thanks (Y)

    I've always wondered that. :)

  • actually it shouldnt wet anything at all because the only reason water makes things wet is because it sticks to things but mercury doesnt stick so it shouldnt make anything wet.

  • just like you then :D cant make any thing wet :P

  • like paper

  • at 0:10 a bottle falls over for no reason...damn you invisible hippies...

  • San Francisco's science must have elvolved... jdtack

  • Where can i buy

  • mercury looks cool but its very dangerous

  • Wrong.

  • Dead wrong....pun intended...

  • ...wow. It's not anywhere near as safe as water... swallow mercury and your doomed man.

  • Why is it that if mercury or anything like a chrome bumper for that matter reflects everything it sees, why is it that if we were to draw it we would use a silver crayon??????

    SERIOUSLY, I'm confused.

  • haha thats cute periodic coffee table of the elements. whered you get all that i want one :P

  • woow how did that bottle fall so randomly XD scary

  • My chem teacher would probably toss that container at one of the students.

  • lol i love how you have the periodic table and all the elements in a bottle(i think) lol

  • i frikkin loved the random bottle xD

  • lol wooow the bottle fell over randomly.lol

  • why did the bottle in the background tip over?

  • it wasn't placed in the hole fully and it was on a 1º edge. after a bit the force from the bottle pushed over

  • oh :P thanks haha

  • hehe ;)

  • lolz u are a fizician right? :D

  • Nope, just a 15 year old who knows about force. =)

  • no it was a poltergiest

  • First, it's called poltergeist and second, there are no such things. =)

  • how do you know you cant see them lol

  • True.. xD

  • lol, spill it on metal, watch it amalgamate and eat through metal.....

  • 20 bucks to the guy who downs it!

  • HAHAHA! you just lost 20 bucks!

    *cough* oh god...

    (X_X)

  • nice to see your handleing is carfully =P

  • you sound like Edward Norton

  • I wanna drink it^_^

  • i want you to drink it too!

  • That's cool. I always thought it was a lot more viscous than that. It would be so cool to have a vial of mercury.

  • Mercury is only dangersous if it gets a chance to react with air.

  • Direct comment: Your an idiot.

  • whose is this collection of flasks with elements in? those samples r owned 2 yor university lab?

  • The crazy thing is, its not even wet.

  • Actually, it's melted.

  • it is liquid metal

  • If it is liquid, it has melted, but the metling point is really low in the case of mercury.

  • whats that?

  • coolio

  • mysticvapor & warf, you guys go ahead and do that ;D

  • oh ya!! hey every body lets go have a chugging contest..whoever chugs the most mercury wins!!

if you dont die within the first day!!!

    that sounds smart huh!

  • who can chug the most and keep it down will win!

  • I'll play.

  • woah!!!!

  • oh u should try it

  • Of course you can. But then you die...

  • hey mercinaries, are you sre you want to know what mercury is?

its part of a complete brekfast go try some today!

  • i love how that bottle in the background just falls over lol and no one touched it. lol makes me laugh. and mercury is cool! i want sum! how do i get sum?

  • lmao yea

That container has a mind of its own.

  • lol no it died cause the conversation was sooo boring it just couldnt take it anymore lol

  • the drug co's put this shit in the vaccines. its listed as thimerasol a preservative. it causes an IQ reduction of 20 points as well as autism in infants. Eugenicists in the 1920' wrote about how they would poison the public back then in order to control us and make us dumb cattle. i'de say they have done pretty well. just watch "end game" on google video it tells you all this in the last hour of the documentary

  • So, this was for the item "Periodic Coffee Table of Elements" for UChicago's scavenger hunt 2007. We borrowed the mercury from a lab and returned it at the end. No one touched it or was poisoned, it was just intensely fun to shake the bottle.

  • please do not touch or taste..Mercury and most of its compounds are extremely toxic and are generally handled with care; in cases of spills involving mercury (such as from certain thermometers or fluorescent light bulbs) specific cleaning procedures are used to avoid toxic exposure.[23] It can be inhaled and absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes, so containers of mercury are securely sealed to avoid spills and evaporation.

  • way to copy and paste from Wikipedia. lol

  • lmao!

  • lmao

  • I have mercury I purchased on the net a few years ago before they made it illegal. Funny thing is you can still buy vermillion natural paint pigment which contains nothing but pure cinnabar (mercury sulfide). By distilling it with water in the reciever flask, you can have all the mercury you want. Issacc Newton found a way to alloy antimony with mercury which is still thought of as impossible today. When mixed with finely powdered gold dust in a 1:1 ratio, the mercury would become over 120F

  • I don't think they made it illegal, i can still purchase it from the laboratories over here. I have more then 1 Kg of it.

  • my favorite form of mercury is mercury fulminate hahaha search for it on youtube

  • Easy to make explosive, but its not used much now a days.

  • used to be used a lot, especially in old-fashioned guns istead of curent guns which use lead styphanate

  • I tried synthesizing it, i came out successful, Only problem is i didn't leave it out enough to dry, you can't leave it outside to dry.

  • would be funny if you left it outside to dry and a bird pecked at it...lol

  • It would just go boom if the bird was unlucky. But that also depends if the sun didn't decompose it yet.

  • What school has allowed this to happen?

  • haha the nerd in the background hahaha

  • lmao

  • do you want to buy some mercury about 10kg

  • its also tastes really sweet. you should try it

  • u r wrong, it is sour, it needs sugar.

  • lol im joking

    have u tasted it?????!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • our old teacher had mercury in a small vial and he'd always look at it and always be creeped out!

  • Not very smart...but still fun as hell to play with.
