This has stuck in my head for 20 years, every time someone said the word "probability". Now I've heard the song again finally. I love the 21st century!
@akilmer I remember this from when I was a kid too. This song also pops up in my head whenever I hear the word "probability". I thought I was the only one. I can't believe this is on YouTube. I wish there were more shows like Square One still on TV.
Probability's been mistreating me lately. I've been trying to find a magic spell in Final Fantasy 4, and there's a 1/64 chance that an item dropped after the battle will be that spell. But I'm up to 177 item drops and no spell yet! Only a 6.2% chance that you'd have luck that bad.
I can't believe it; with all of the things that I've probably forgotten since yesterday, after all these years I still remembered that the pizza cost $14.10?!
Great to hear Reg. is still getting some work! He is the man. And @georgenoory...Rush or Square One, you can't go wrong either way. Roll The Bones, my friend...
Man oh man does this feel like forever ago. This was one of the first television shows I remember watching as a kid. I was only like 3 or 4 when I started watching this.
Thank you thank you thank you for uploading this! It was my very favorite sketch from Square One and I've been wanting to see it again for decades! Thank you! *sings along*

What is this mid 80's drivel? this is the kind of rubbish Vincent Hanley subjected Irish teenagers to Sunday afternoons with his MT USA. Young people desperate for quality well written relivent music and this is what they got?... How dare this trash share the same title as Dublin band The Blades cracking single..... I'm insulted.
This show was only the best educational show ever created. No one cares about your band who ripped off both Square One and Bing Crosby, and even less than no one cares you are insulted.
"Ghost of a chance" is a popular idiom that predates the Blades and the 1932 Bing Crosby song DiceMan suggests. This video was not intended for MTV, but Square One, an educational show on PBS (from 1987 to 1994) that taught kids about math by cleverly mimicking pop culture. Square One is intentionally ripping off Thriller and other videos of its kind. By confusing this video for the real thing, prunch72, you flatter its creators.
OK everyone, i appreciate the fact that this was 'educational', so enough replies in defence of. Good memories for some, but not for all. Isn't this what public comment forums are for? to express a view or opinion (without profanity)
I love the actors from this show! I often wonder what they are all doing today. Over the years when I've recognized one of them in something else, like Reg Cathy in "The Mask," I go wild!
@Mukta101 Wow, I thought I was the only one! It's been about 20 years since I've seen this and it gets stuck in my head as well. It's the reason I looked it up just now. :) Great minds....

haha, I loved this clip! Thanks for posting this! BTW, I just KNOW there is a real song with this same melody! It's not "Somebody's Watching Me" as somebody else suggested, but it is a song from the 80's.. unless I'm imagining things.
Amazing how things stay in your mind for 20 years!!! I loved this one!!!! Thank you for posting it. They really need to make DVDs of this so kids can learn math!
Wow. When I was a wee lad, (so wee that I shouldn't have been watching Square One), this segment gave me nightmares, but I couldn't remember what it was from. It's true: everything really is on the Internet.
Square One should seriously be released on DVD. They'd make a mint. This song was genius--I remember being genuinely frightened by both the mummy and the ending, and the lyrics are clever, too.
The melody and instrumentation remind me of Bananarama's "Cruel Summer", which was heard in the movie "Karate Kid". But I must admit, the cackling ghost seems to be an emulation of Vincent Price's recitation in "Thriller".
I am so relieved to know that plenty of other people remember this. I am 28 years old, and this song has gotten stuck in my head every so often throughout the years. I even remembered the 1/12 part ar the end. Wow.
I grew up with this, I wish I could find the dvds for my kids

More importantly, prunch, the point of Square One was to have fun with math. Isn't it rather churlish to take it so seriously?
