  • At first, when I saw the ingredients I figured they would use the butter and flour to make a basic roux for the stroganoff. Then I remembered these are the BBQ Pit Boys! Not some pansy chef on the cooking channel. Keep making food for the man's man!

  • @negativeeffect2 I think he's exaggerating a bit, as the main ingredients are basically the same. However, a more "european" recipe uses filet instead of steak, the sour cream might taste a bit different, sometimes there is cucumber and/or some tomato in it and there is no beer involved, too.

    Say what you want, you guys really know what tastes good. I'm eating my third bowl right know - wunderbar! Tomorrow, I'm gonna get myself a machete :D

  • Watching BBQ Pit Boys is for me extra torture (more than watching it on an empty stomach) is knowing that almost all of the meat they use cant be bought in my country. Yes you might be able to get a butcher to make something but that is so expensive you might as well go to a restaurant.

    I can only dream ;_;

  • @Rexter2k these guys also have great recipes for marinades and stews, which will let you turn lesser cuts of meat into tender, flavorful delicacies... hey, i've been there!

    even this one can be prepared with tougher meats, only let it simmer for longer

  • I use to stack up som extra brown roux, and in norway we got a combination of the creme fraishe and sour cream, taste of sour, but does not curdle. or else we make a batch of kinda reduced beef syrup, consentrated beef stock and deglace it, or just mix water and cornflour, potatoflour of just water and flour.

  • They use creme fraiche because it doesn't curdle at higher temps. Sour cream can curdle. Still looks good though.

  • when you add that flour you need to make sure you simmer that whole pot for at least 10 mins otherwise your gunna have shit tasting raw flour in your killer stroganoff

  • @ezkill99 I caught that too. My partner is Hungarian and always makes a medium/light roux and then just builds on that. His Stroganof is legendary, and he uses smoked paprika, not cayenne. Try it with venison sometime, it's so good with elk you can't stop eating it.
