  • Amazing! AMAZING!

  • personally, I think this is the greatest tune they ever did, totally should've been released as a single, but the hipster in me likes that they didn't :P

  • coño!

  • Just, this whole song gives me these sexual feelings and I don't know why but I enjoy it.

  • you guys call it verse ....i call it 5 against one

  • Rats and Garden... my two favorite PJ tunes. Jeff Ament just torches this tune. Serious bass line.

  • VS and Ten are BOTH great albums and sound as good today as they did yesterday....

  • I always thought Eddie said at 0:32 "Lick the dirt of Olajuwon's feet".... as in the famous Houston Rockets player - Hakeem Olajuwon. It really does sound like that you know.

  • @MrSuperCollider It really does sound like it, but that's happened with Eddie always. You just can't understand what the man says

  • i....love.....this.....mother....fuckin....song

  • pearl jam should name thier next album "one"

  • that chorus....

  • I hope you're still around AwWDesignZ, I can just tell you'll continue this on till Dinner Time

  • Interesting... Googling more enlightened me more regarding ben and Michael Jackson... I still prefer to think though that this is comparing humans to rats and showing that rats actually work and act better than humans, in many ways.

  • dat bass

  • good album! this songs about the movie 'Ben" 1972, which i just watched last nite, its cute...

  • @AwWDesignZ No it's not... Ben was Michael Jacksons rat.

This is simply a song drawing comparison between people and rats.

  • @SewSumi Ur wrong! Michael jackson was blowing Bubbles the chimp. AND if this isnt about Ben the movie then why would he sing "Ben, the two of us need look no more" which is directly from the movie!

  • @AwWDesignZ It's called a reference and a sound byte...

It doesn't need to be directly about the movie to reference it.

As for Michael, Yes indeed, He sang that song, But saying that he was blowing bubbles shows that you're not even serious about the issue, You're solely trolling.

As I said through my 3 comments I was enlightented... You obviously missed the other comments even though they were so close together...

Again, The song references Ben the movie, It's NOT about it.

  • They don't scam, don't fight

Don't oppress an equals given rights

Starve the poor so they can be well fed

Line their holes with the dead ones bread

  • Rats, I've met a few...lol They know who they are; too bad they don't build extra large traps...

  • @growndownhomeFLA LOL :D

  • (Marty) Doc I need you to help me to get back to the year 1990

(Doc EB) why marty? I thought your from 1985???

(Marty) yea..but, the music at the time was awesome...

(Doc EB) Oh I see... well then Im sending you back to the future...

(Marty) Well, I hope not too far into the future because...some of the music that far sucks...have you heard of justin beiber?

  • DAT BASS......is just love!!

  • Underrated song from one of the greatest balls-out rock albums ever. This is rock and roll.

  • I fucking love Pearl Jam. Thank God I know what real music is.

  • perfect

  • You'd have to be in the great game to understand...

  • Ben, the two of us need look no more

Ben, the two of us need look no more

Ben, the two of us need look no more

Ben, the two of us need look no more

  • majorly under-rated... i rocked out to this for like 10 yrs man HAHA

  • Great song but i can barely hear the bass line in this vid :/

  • I love rats, guess they are like people

  • gooooooooooooooood

  • RATS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best Jeff Ament Bass Line!

  • Comment removed

  • @zeroenvy ...Agreed.

  • They do not eat...I do not eat when I play this song - It is so catchy that I have to rape repeat button...

  • Great song vs. Is definitely the best album love the whole thing ten is great too just not better

  • Oh yeah!!!!! I forgot about this jam... I've got this album, on wax. CLEAR ORANGE COLORED WAX.. NEVER OPENED.

  • @hogantmwnn you lucky bastard..........180 gram black vinyl here...

  • @hogantmwnn Holy crap, keep it in a safe deposit box. Ten, fifteen years from now, it will be worth a fortune!

  • i remember that i like this whole cd.

  • Ten>Vs.>Vitalogy> All the rest

  • @Zardoz99 Your nuts. Ten is overrated, i'll take VS. anyday over Ten

    VS. and Lost dogs

    Best PJ hands down

  • @Wesson4 Almost agreed. Vs and Vitalogy

  • @Zardoz99 I totally agree, Ten is their very best. Vs, Vitology and Yield are very good though, but still Ten is the best...

  • @Zardoz99 Backspacer, Yield, Pearl Jam (2006) are equally good as well... Binaural wasn't that good, Riot Act as well... No Code wasnt that good, but they were all good, PJ is Awesome in every record!

  • @Zardoz99 Vs + Vitalogy = Pj at their primest, most instinctive, most unsettled, most raw peak of talent outburst. Maybe not your opinion, but it's mine!!

  • @Zardoz99 stupid comparsion but Youth and young manhood>aha shake heartbreak>because of the times>all the shit they did next

  • 8 people starve the poor so they can be well fed

  • this ain't their best... but was, is, and always be my favourite vs and pearl jam song

  • great song, esp if you know where and when this song was about...

  • tanks Veder!

  • Anyone see the last episode of "Hoarders" on A&E?

  • Anyone see the last episode of "Hoarders" on AE?

  • Love the raw feeling of this album, and this song is somehow so funky-bluesy-jazzy, I just love it!! Stone Gossard, I definetly admire you more than ever man! Thanks for that solo!

  • ...I wish it was 1993 back again - OMG that song takes me back to the 90's...good times

  • 8 people are bonkers

  • what an absoute driving tune

  • Rats if people could just be like rats.... imagine... seriously how great would this world be???!!! GREAT JAM!!!

  • Are there any modern covers of this song?

  • Pearl Jam fucking kicks ass, I don't care what anybody says.

  • Hootdang. i'm wrong..sonofabitch -_- PJ had me all confused

  • I am a heterosexual male, until I look at him and then i have questions and i am confused

  • It's about people who betray their so called friends, he says it in the lyrics...

  • I just love this cover. This sheep is crazy as hell.

  • Got this album a couple of days ago and its probably one of the best albums i heard in a while

  • its prolly not just me, but i think its a political song.

  • @Ms89er It's comparing rats to humanity, and how rats are far more 'civil' than we are

  • Comment removed

  • @envirovore alright, i guess i see it, but what about the ending?

  • @Ms89er im just not seeing it...

  • in my top 5 of all time

  • He's not he's talking about rats, how they are more humane than us human beings

  • those were the best years! =0l

  • good bass line

  • K.F.C. ingredients.

  • Nobody can touch this.

If you weren't around to buy and listen to this album when it came out, then please save your emotional input.

  • This song gave me a boner.

  • @Twowrist i came

  • excelente cancion ...

  • fuck, they have so many great songs... it's so hard to choose

  • I can't get over how good the bass is

  • Dave is great, what a fucking drummer.

Great PJ song and another underrated one

  • @Smith89123 dave groal is from nirvana foo fighters and now druming in them crooked voultures he is a great drummer but he dident drum for this song man

  • @dudeidontknow159 i was talking about the awesome dave abbruzzese numbnuts

  • @dudeidontknow159 Okay i think everyone knows that, im pretty sure he is talking about Dave Abbruzzese, pearl jams drummer at the time.

  • This groove rocks!!!

  • @oWhoadYo If you want the same song 12 times buy a PAW album 'Dragline'.

  • @oWhoadYo Sorry but I beg to differ. Daughter sounds NOTHING like this; and that's just one example.

  • dont shit where they're not suppose to!

  • They don't scurry when something bigger comes their way

Don't pack themselves together and run as one

Don't shit where they're not supposed to

Don't take what's not theirs, they don't compare

  • my favourite track of VS.

  • I always loved the album cover... to me... when you pick up the album and look at the cover - it tells you what kind of music is inside

  • the sound of the snare at 2.47 is awesome! It's just fucking screaming BAM...BAM...BAM like saying '..hey man I'm the fucking boss in here follow me!!'

  • I Love the 90's

  • Ben the 2 of us don't need 2 look no more>>> reference 2 Michael Jackson's Ben!!!

  • @Wingmaster75 yeah and more precisely to that horror movie about rats from 1972

  • Pearl Jam's 2nd best album. This album is fuckin classic but nothing will ever replace Ten! From a black brotha from Jersey!

  • @WWFattitude98rockz so being black gives you extra credit? does black =cool in your world?

  • @bananafence Relax dude lol

  • Comment removed

  • this is pearl jam's best album

  • Esta cancion se la dedico vedder a Abruzzese segun cuentan las malas lenguas.

  • Everything in this song is great: Jeff's bass riff, Dave's Drums, Mike's and Stone's guitar riffs (and the solo of course) and the fuckin voice of Eddie!!!

  • I had this song alone on loop on my laptop once. Didn't turn it off 'till the battery died.

I can listen to this forever!

  • I like Ten and VS. But I really find it hard to compare each other. Ten is my favorite PJ album but VS is def a more mature album. I'm hoping o make sense to you here. Because Ten was so raw and in your face, VS is deeper and more subliminal. Like with Rats. You can use that metaphor for anything. Same with Animal or Glorified G. Its so universal. IDK. Dnt listen to me. Just Rock That Shit!

  • nic nema chybu

  • YEar of the RAt. 1984, chinese Zodiac.

  • I love how it just changes at 2:90

  • 2:90? Is that anything like 3:30? :o)

  • this song is so boss, evryone forgets about th guitar here, but listen whn he starts singing , so fuckign awsome

  • LOVE THIS!

  • This song is so under-rated.

  • Oh well he's probably talking about American bankers, they are greedy to the point to starve the poor.

  • PEARL JAM WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! xD

  • The best.

  • and the vermin are better behaved than us! Yeah, great effing tune wow.

  • A comparison between vermin and human beings! Vedder is so very clever with that perception...

  • ROCK IT !

  • "Ben the two of us need look no more" comes from the beautiful song "Ben", sang by young Michael Jackson. :) Ben is a mouse, and the context of the song fits in this Pearl Jam piece. Cool! ^_^

  • bens a rat

  • Love this song. The last part is enough to daydream.

  • bass at the start is great

  • i like this shit more then ten!!

  • awesomeeee xD

  • yes rock and roll motherfuckers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song fucking rocks, the whole album fucking rocks, pearl jam fucking rocks !!!!!

  • @uNdErClAsssHeRO

tru dat except Animal and Daughter sucked.

  • @mjkjsa Daughter didn't "suck" It had meaning... Something that much of todays music lacks...

  • fuck yeah!

  • i love the album cover its so grungey. reminds me of an alice in chains album cover. this is one of my fav P.J. songs!!

  • So underrated this album. To me the best Pearl Jam ever released.

  • I agree its an all-time rock album, but it set the records for the fastest album to reach a million US sales and has several songs that still get regular radio play, so.... I'm not sure how underrated it can be...

  • @Lokimera

I didnt think this album was underrated...it had so many hits.....go, daughter, wma, rearview mirror, some of my fav pearl jam songs..

  • @nintendoneil i was going to say the same, it's very respected by critics and fans

  • @Lokimera MY FAV

  • @Lokimera nope Ten is and always be the best.....vs was second

  • @Blumpkin68 the reason why 'Ten' isn't a better Pearl Jam album is because the rest of the band wrote the album before Vedder was even in the band.. he just added lyrics. Vs, Vitalogy and No Code are all superior because they are written by all members and capture the essence of what Pearl Jam is.

  • I hate the Pearl Jam poison injected into the awesome bass line. That's good shit.

  • That must be the sickest introduction ever written

  • I love the guitar in 0:25! So fucking grunge XD

  • the 2nd best pearl jam album, 1st being ten.

  • A fucking great song.

  • i wanna give u 10 more thumbs up for that comment!!!!! ;-)

  • My fav Pearl Jam song at the moment.

  • Mine too

  • ben, the two of us need look no more!!!!

  • For those thinking this is the best song off this dis, what are smoking, on come now, indifference, if I got the spelling right, and that long titled song, and White man mother fucker song, even Animal pumps me up after a break up. I have learned from reading opinions of my favorite band, first, that I am not alone in thinking this is the only band right now that matters.

I can relate to every song...being a older child of the nineties, never had a habit...

    Chris or chessemillX

  • when i hear this song i think of all ceo and bankers and gov people just ripping us off. love this song and the band.

  • Such the Bomb!

  • thats great dude, but this is a Pearl Jam song.

  • from the solo on the song takes off....the solo..so liquidy....and it's Stone not Mike!! sick....

  • ther is only one PJ,always will be,unick, and compare them simply make no sens,i have never heared something so special, dont waste time with comeparing, enjoy the music!

  • I second the 2:46 comment. Classic.

  • Legendary middle 8

  • peral jam owns all other bands

  • at 2:46.....that's my favorite moment. out of all songs ever.

  • lol awesome, one of my fav songs ever

  • zippywaite, love your site.

  • I also agree on people compairing Nirvana with The Beatles. It's a whole load of crap. Bands like Pearl Jam survived because they avoided the image and focused on the music and lyrics. Eddie Vedder is an amazing lyricist with an ability to connect with issues such as religion, social problems, etc. I also enjoy bands like Soundgarden, Tool, The Who, The Doors, and Rush. Neil Peart, who writes the lyrics and drummer for Rush, like Vedder, has an awareness of the world around him when he writes.
