  • @0mgwtfbbq21 one day we'll be improved.

  • My old roommate (R.I.P.) once got into a fist fight with a co-worker who suggested that Ian Curtis was a pussy for killing himself

  • @totalstranga why did'nt U ...! : (

  • Depressing my ass!! Listen to the lyrics: Mother ive tried please believe me, Im doing the best that i can, Im ashamed of the things ive been put through, im ashamed of the person i am. RIP Ian Curtis you will never be forgotten !

  • Nice video, nice track, nice legs...

  • @octopusride f u

  • Nice video, nice track, nice legs...

  • nice legs....

  • Mother I tried please believe me,

I'm doing the best that I can.

I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through,

I'm ashamed of the person I am

  • This video is pretty good except it suggests boredom a bit over isolation. I mean, boredom is synonymous with isolation, but it seems like 'isolation' suggests an inability to reach out or atleast successfully reach out. This video suggests too much world of warcraft or something. Which i can relate to, but... maybe im wrong here actually. Good video.

  • The best song of this depressive but interesting album ("Closer"),cool video too!

  • Excelent video!!

  • im ashamed of the perrson i am

  • the only thing about joy divisions music i find depressing is, thinking about ian, he's such a beautiful person inside and out, i wish i could have met him atleast once, I love hismusic and lyrics, there so deep, i love him soo much, i cant discribe it . im not 'inlove' but i 'love' him, the photographs left of him, are like art to me, i dont no why, im weird, but thats ok (:

  • this video is quite wonderful

  • Joy Division so very very original !!! One of the select few, that will be remembered 50 years from now! ......... Rightly so....

  • We are all very cool for liking Joy Division!

  • @jenke85 Not U .

  • Martin Hannett + Joy Division = Magic

  • 35 people did not try and their mothers believed in them:(

  • depressing my ass, 2:15 is the best sound ive ever heard

  • This is art

  • joy division is depressing, nothing wrong with that though...

  • @playaeyez17 holy water on a disc im fucking digging that....

  • kinda depressing... but I like it.

  • Why exactly are you sitting in the bath at a few points (I'm assuming that it's phantomemma herself) ?

  • This album was simply Revolutionary! with a capital fuckin R!. Shits all over bands today. This is music to live by man this is truth!. Epileptic Ian curtis-made holy water on a disc!.. now bless yourself with It!!!

  • Youtube/WISPRWORLD Myspace/WISPRWORLD

  • ...

  • met ian once, nice guy

  • @paddyoshea55 haha cool

  • Nicely done video!

  • MOTHER I'VE TRIED PLEASE BELIEVE ME I'M DOING THE BEST THAT I CAN I'M ASHAMED OF THE THINGS I'VE BEEN PUT THROUGH I'M ASHAMED OF THE PERSON I AM- Ian Curtis. I have this lyric tattooed on my leg. Though not ashamed of who I am but understand the dark place from which it came. One love Ian.

  • @DrunkMillz79 thats cool, can u post a vid of it?

  • this girl is like me at the mo

  • LOVE this song LOVE this video

  • this craps all over anything in the charts today.

  • Very good video.

  • nice video.. crongratsss.

  • Genius!

  • awesome video, i like

  • Great version...

  • jeden z ciekawszych kawałków jd

  • top track from one of the greatest bands of all time. Great video, too!

  • the video is actually pretty cool

  • Just listened to Therapy's version and it sucks compared to this.

  • I like this version/interpretation of the song; and you've made an excellent video to go with it. Well done! :)

  • Wicked song...great vid

  • I only just found out Therapy?s version is indeed a cover. I have to say, that is one of the worse Joy Division songs and Therapy?s cover is much much better.

  • @Icarus668 however its a cover, i havent listened to this version but your listening to someone pretending to live someone elses life. rather than listening to the man who wrote it and can put his emotion in t it .You cant beat the McCoy

  • @Icarus668 you're an idiot

  • @teddyballgame406 Wow, thanks. I hadn't noticed before now.

  • @Icarus668 Spoken by a true Therapy fan. Do therapy only do covers?

  • @Icarus668 "fuckin musical retard". your new ID tag!

  • @cbmdg8551976 Jesus Christ I wasn't expecting so much bile from everyone. I like Joy Division as much as the next man, but I just find some of their songs really drag on, like this and Autosuggestion. I didn't realise that "Tr00-" Joy Division fans were such extremists. It's not like I'm tea-bagging Curtis' grave.

  • @Icarus668 Look man its one thing to have a personal preference or opinion sucksassballs made it pretty clear, However you have to look at the album Closer as a whole not as an individual song. Also the song doesn't suck why do you think its covered by bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Tool and others. Its actually an important song that gave tremendous insight to the artist. I may have been a little hard on you about your musical knowledge etc. But trust me an educated opinion goes a long way.

  • @Icarus668 Also, to try and be witty with your comment about tea-bagging Curtis grave is also pretty fuckin' lame. JD fans are very loyal because they have the understanding about how important this band actually was to the musical landscape. They are still ahead of their time 30 yrs later and one day you'll see that. Maybe. Even mentioning Tool in the same breathe as Joy Division is at least misguided, if not down right stupid on your part. And if you are a fan of JD you should know that.

  • Great sound on this gut wrenching song! 'mother i've tried please forgive me,i'm doing the best i can. I'm ashamed of the things i've been put through,i'm ashamed of the person im am". I don't think many artists have laid there soul out so barren before or even still. That line makes my hair stand up everytime i hear it.

  • @bakedzale : I understand what you mean, that line always draws my attention somehow...

  • amazing

  • MY FAVOURITE !! I THINK HE'S HAPPY IN THIS ONE!! :O ...

  • fck yea

  • the sadness in ian is something that really gets in me

  • great song, cool video

  • cool

  • People say that Joy Division was depressing. I fail to view the ideals and lyrics that way. Ian was living a life that was full of emotion. That is the beauty of life.

  • @dprague

people think that the life full of emotions is bound to be depressed because all of them think that the real and beautiful life must be the same as common stereotypes xD i think the same as you : /

  • i tend to agree

but then of course but it didnt keep him alive

in any case jd music is keeping me alive :)

  • @dprague : I find it stangely uplifting. You know, that "light at the end of the tunnel" feeling.

  • @dprague Maybe it's only depressing if someone's depressed.Powerful music can intensify moods like alcohol.

  • @dprague I Agree Joy Division Is Way Better Then Any Punk Band I Addmmit Theye Were Deppressing But Ian Was Expressing Threw His Lyrics On What He Felt And Thats What Makes It Perfect Music I Love Joy Division Aloha Fuckin Yooya

  • I like the Therapy? Version more.

  • "lets dance to joy division, and celebrate the irony. everything is going wrong, but we're still happy"

  • It's official. I would definitely include Joy Division in my potential suicidal kit. Most depressing band ever. Love them, though.

  • @przebieglabrukiew potential suicide kit? Man, get some therapy.

  • 1:49 - 2:06 nice legs and thais gorgeous

  • @rapideye89 yeah very sexy but it works doesn't it! I never thought any kind of sexual imagery would ever suit this song but it's cool! great video for one of my top 5 JD songs

  • i really like this video i've watched it a lot of times!

  • but if you could just see the beauty these things i could never descirbe these pleasures a wayward disraction this is my one lucky prize. Ian curtis was awesome

  • Ian's voice is magic

  • mother i try please believe me!

  • Hooooooooooo Yes Yes! Man the minute I wake up I find Im singing about the Isolation

  • Nice! Thanks for the vid.

  • This is one of my favorite Joy Division songs, and your video suits the song really well.!

  • Wow you look retard in this video , how old are you 14?

  • Wow Ian curtis is an extraordinary guitarrist...

One day I will learn to play like him!

  • Ian Curtis hardly played guitar in any recordings. The only one I can think of is love will tear us apart.

  • @nicck - I am not even sure he was playing on Love Will Tear Us Apart. It looks more like a prop for the video.

  • I laughed.

  • I bloody love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fuck me this is Class! # 30 years this may R.I.P Ian x

  • nice video great legs

  • excelente canción, excelente musica, ian, un visionario ADMIRABLE... WOW!!!

  • love it!

  • I'm so damn glad that a little criticism is bad. i can't say how i feel about this damn song. so i think it's not the best. so what? at least I'm not one of those assholes who just says ' this shit sucks' or something like that. ..::!!::.. it's a castle

  • that's what i was thinking about the automation. good idea!! the audio is excellent not just pretty good

  • great! The part of the automatized machines reminds me of a Dziga Vertov film. The audio is pretty good too. Thanks!

  • i like this

  • @johnsouthwales Brilianr! m8

  • yeah, you know, most disqualifying comment i read for quite some time :)

you can criticize the music, but the lyrics are just incredible.

  • Can't believe I hadn't seen this sooner! I LOVE your video, Isolation has long been a fav JD song and I feel that what you've done here is truly wonderful and beautifully done.

  • Anybody who wants to know the real deal on Joy Division instead of the wanker pundit blah blah, do a key word search "Joy Division documentary part 1" in youtube's search line -- then find the documentary titled "Joy Division (1/10)." It is "A Hudson Production." Proper interviews with the people who were actually there... notebooks of Martin Hannet, actual audio of Ian Curtis being hypnotized. And REAL CONTEXT of the time and place this music came from. AWESOME!!!

  • that's right Hannett's style of engineering put joy division into perspective... reverb n EQ masta!!!!! ;) R.I.P.

  • fackyou

  • I wonder if Ian had not killed himself Joy Division would have become musically what New Order ended up being... Imagine listening to Blue Monday with Ian's voice. I would pay a lot for that.

  • @chukmaty I don't think so,New Order is more upbeat, while Joy Division was always a bit morbid and down. Maybe that's why Ian killed himself? Because his music reflected his feeling. Regardless, they are both great.

  • JD's music definitely reflected Ian's emotional issues. The lyrics read like a suicide noe in hindsight. I think the rest of the band blames themselves for thinking that his lyrics were just cool word put together by a guy having fun. They did not know, until it was too late, that he meant what he was writing.

  • @chukmaty

Listen to "Ceremony" and "In A Lonely Place." They were both Joy Division songs before New Order made them early singles. Blue Monday could not have been written if Ian Curtis hadn't killed himself. It is a song about friends who outlive a suicide victim. "How does it feel to treat me like you do... tell me how does it feel when your heart grows cold."

  • good job, nice vid....isolation is the only way to avoid the madness of society ..

  • good work!

  • This fucking video is genius. I'm sure Ian would agree.

  • phantomemma: i friend requested you. i love your vid. it reminds me somewhat of Ministry's 'In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up' live concert video.

  • when that rickenbacker bass comes in at the start, phew, Epic track

  • awesome video,congratulations my friend:)

  • Awesome video. I don't know of any girls being fans of Joy Division so thats nice...The fact that the girls hot is a bonus

  • in fear everyday every evening

he calls her aloud from above

    carefully watched for a reason

    painstaking devotion and love

    surrender to self reservation

from others who care for themselves

    a blindness that touches perfection

but hurts just like anything else

in my opinion the best lyric of all time. nothing touches that. john lennon, who?

  • @babscabs1987 Nice Well Said

  • well yes ;)

  • @babscabs1987 thats awsome cheers!!!!

  • @babscabs1987 *Self Preservation. I agree

  • @babscabs1987 Closer is filled with this type of lyrical genius as I'm sure you know. Curtis is the greatest lyricist of our time. Nothing touches the depth

  • Love this song...and the vid you made is really good. Goes really well. Nice one :)

  • LOVE JD~the best thing my ex-left me with was a deep rooted love for Ian & the boys

    Cheers!

  • you know, i seriously love this song.

  • Great video! Nice to know you're a girl, there should be more female JD fans because curiously the few JDheads I know are men.

  • Somehow, the idea that there are female JD fans warms me inside a little. Girls with the same taste as me? Cant be.

    /ontopic

  • I love how the rather grim lyrics are completely contrasted by a danceable pop instrumental. They were truly one of the greatest bands of our time, and in a flicker they were gone. RIP Ian Curtis.

  • yeeesss! well, don't forget Hannett, rip Martin Hannett too

  • I looooooooooooove this song!

  • Cool!

  • very good video, if I had a band you would make all of my videos..... :)

  • Mother I tried please believe me

Im doing the best that i can

Im ashamed of the things iv been put thru

im ashamed of the person i am

    Gr8 video

  • if this song wasnt sung by ian it sounded like a regular new wave song.

hes contribution for this music is just amazing

  • i LIKE IT! WELL DONE!

  • I like it! Brava!

  • Meth must be one hell of a drug : } just kidding cool video

  • I did enjoy this video very much, and I'm not meaning to be negative towards it when I say that what you've captured in it is really more boredom than isolation. There's a big difference. The video misses the psychosis that sets in with isolation. The Joy Division song itself, I've always thought, captures it perfectly. But again: I did enjoy the video!

  • Enjoy time alone, im a married dad with 2 kids who i love more than life itself. Sorry for being gloomy. Joy Division are the missing link in the chain when Ian went i went inside

  • ratinfest:

    I do enjoy time alone.

Isolation is not simply time spent alone. It has meaning beyond its literal definition.

Time spent alone is very nice and much-appreciated by me.

Isolation, on the other hand, refers to a state of being psychologically separated from things in a deepy substantial way, emotionally, and not simply in terms of not being around people.

    I LOVE time alone.

    Isolation, however, is terrible.

This quote by Joseph Roux sums it up:

    "Solitude vivifies; isolation kills."

  • true, but I think what the maker of the video was trying to get at was displaying Isolation in one of its forms: robotic lifestyles. Isolation can be a physical and/or emotional pitfall. Living your life like a machine or a drone can drive you to isolation just as easily as anything else can, maybe even more so, due to the fact that most people live their lives as thus and never see anything wrong with it. The ones that do find themselves to often feel extremely isolated one way or another.

  • hiphopbwwsoccer:

Very nice; I like your interpretation. While I don't think that's what the person who made this video was thinking, on its own merit and not in relation to the video yours is an astute observation.

  • thank you :)
