@nillisraetear Don't think so, Iwata is usually a lot more conservative with the number of different things going on in a song, and doesn't have melodies that wander around or have that many variations. Then again, whenever he works with Sakimoto their styles become *really* similar, so it's hard to say for sure.
@ssfsx17 Yeah, it definitely is hard to say for sure. But I know they are both credited for Gauntlet 4, and out of the songs I've heard from it this has the least number of Sakimoto's cues in it. It also sounds similar to some of Iwata's Ogre tracks from the same era, such as Impregnable Defense and Fight It Out.
@d2eux agreed, and after seeing how the Tactics Ogre soundtrack was updated, one can only imagine how much more epic the Gauntlet 4 soundtrack will be when Hitoshi Sakimoto has had a second go at it
one of the best if not the best music soundtracks are here in this masterpiece Gauntlet 4! maybe Streets of Rage is one of the few that compete in this aspect, good old times using the 4 Way Play or the Multitap (or the Multitap 2) for 4 player fun! (also the first game to apper for multiplayer purposes and the only one that work with both adaptors)
Over the hundreds of hours of gaming with my Genesis, I truly don't believe I've heard finer music. This song and "Transparent Obstacle" are hands down the best music Genesis has to offer.

This track really sounds more like Iwata to me than Sakimoto.

Is it just me, or does this song reek of heroism?

eeeepic!!!
dont know why, but i think this is one of the games i most feared, probably because of the multi-kills, the 2d graphics and of course, the music
thanks for upload!

Great stuff.
But IMO the best music on the mega drive/genesis was in the Ecco the Dolphin games, particularly the second.
Other worthy nominees are Streets of Rage, Gunstar Heroes and, cheesy as it may be, the Sonic games.

@d2eux
I'll have to have a check on a few sites like Overclocked Remix and see if anyone has done a decent remake.

@d2eux Actually, I'd say this is better suited for a small chamber orchestra.

My personal favorite of Gauntlet on Genesis. Very Conan-ish.

Thankyou thankyou for upping these awesome G4 tunes. Amazing music for this little box of tricks indeed! :o)
