  • why can't people make tv-shows like this anymore?

  • Lydia is scary...

  • When I was in life drawing class, I think one of the models we drew looked a lot like Lydia!

  • i seriously HOPE TO GOD, that there will never EVER be any parody(by Disney or any other company doesn't matter) of this.

If there will be, i'm gonna kill those who did it

(even though i'm born in the 90's and in Sweden, so i didn't really grow up with The Muppets, but with other similair good stuff)

  • LOL The Swedish Chef is so funny.

  • Oh Swedish Chef.....

  • I was born on the same Jim Henson was. I hope I got at least a bit of creativity he did. <3

  • I was half expecting Miss Piggy to come out halfway through "Lydia the Tattooed Lady" and beat Lydia up. Oh well, at least Kermit must have learned his lesson. LOL

  • lol no but meet my fist wack!

  • I use to drive my mom crazy from singing Lydia the Tattooed Lady, and I never knew why it made her cringe until I grew up.

  • hahhaha! ahhhh tv just isn't what it used to be. :) The lydia bit was hilarious. :P It must have been a blast writing all the songs and skits for this show!

  • (rest of Statler and Waldorf routine)

STATLER: Do we still have those rotten eggs? I'd like to strike a happy medium.

WALDORF: Save them for the bear. I have a feeling we're going to need 'em.

  • Here's a great Statler and Woaldorf routine from Muppet Show comic book #1:

STATLER: A Muppet Show comic book! Oh no, they're back to corrupt a whole new medium.

WALDORF: Why's it called a medium?

STATLER: Cause it's rarely well done! Hoho!

MEDIUM: 'Corrupt'?! I'll have you know I'm fully licensed by The Board of Fakirs! Now don't interrupt me, I'm trying to summon the spirit of Chief Sitting Duck.

(rest on next comment due to lack of room)

  • Wayne was so evil.

  • hahahhaha

  • Oh come now Piggy. Lydia is married. Don't be jealous.

  • dr julius strangepork, u r amazing. u rock. these episodes r very entertaning. thank you

  • There are only three episodes of the Muppet Show that features the Sesame Street characters are Connie Stevens (with Bert & Ernie), Leslie Uggams (with Big Bird), and Marty Feldman (with Cookie Monster, Ernie, Bert, Grover, Count von Count, and two Little Anything Muppets). I wish there were more featuring the Sesame Street Muppets.

  • @FishDemon00 Yeah the Marty Feldman episode, was a parody of Arabian Nights and Sesame Character came out when "Open Sesame" was spoken!

  • I gotta hunch that Hilda is behind this whole thing about Gonzo's teddy bear and not Fozzie.

  • He's in the pilot... love him... binsi bouncy burger...

  • I know a lady at my college who sounds a LOT like the Hilda character!

  • the first time we're introduced to the Swedish Chef!!!

  • If I remember well, Piggy (in this case the song's "Lydia") was conceived AND animated by the GREAT Frank Oz (who also does her voice). Check out the wonders he does in the "Have you met Lydia" number... Jim Henson surely had his own man in the shadows (and under the stage, where the puppeteers spend most of their time. God I loved this show!

  • Well, frank didn't do Piggy's voice in a lot of season one, because she wasn't intended to be his main puppet, until they realised how big she was going to be.

  • Thanks for straightening that out... I remember now having heard about Piggy's stardom coming somewhat as a surprise to the authors ;-)

  • Actually, Lydia was a Muppet all her own, only used once as a "star", in this episode. She was used as background in other episodes as well, but she is not Piggy.

  • thanks for this update, KiWi ;-)

I'm so amazed by the quality of Lydia's animation in this piece that I wonder if all of Jim Henson's puppeteers just were that good, or if it marks Frank Oz' craftsmanship...!?

  • Jim Henson was a GENIUS! I miss him! T.T

  • @AkaneTheFox i know what u mean he died before i was born can u miss somebdy u never met

  • Actress Connie Stevens is such A Gorgeous Italian-American Woman!

  • That Connie Stevens opeing was just weird

  • Well, weird is muppet show in 1 word...

    Don't you like it, I doe :D
