are the tigre people habasha.. I know tigrinya, tigray and amhara's are.. but I always doubted that the tigre ppl are habasha.. but how come they got a semitic language.. and are they hamito-semitic like the tigrinya, tigray and amhara's or are they Cushites like all the other eritrean tribes.

they are semitic...their language is pure semitic not like tigrinya which has cushitic influence or amharic which is more cushitic than semitic but still considered semitic. i dont know if tigre see themselves as habesha if not, they are right because we are eritreans and fought for this title 30 years!

so u dont consider urself habesha.. im habesha and eritrean.. its not like u have to pick one.. our ethnicity was there way before the borders, we might not get along with our habesh neighbours who kept invading our territory since the beginning of time but it doesnt make us less habesh u cant deny history

i consider myself eritrean. calling myself habesha is like disrespecting our martyrs because they gave their lives for this country.

so to me, if i call myself habesha, it is like trying to erase the borders and saying we are all one.
