He made it a mile down the road, laid it out on a turn, ripped the skin off his shin to the bone leaving a gaping hole and a flap of skin hanging off his leg, with a piece of metal in his knee and he was skinned up horribly. Walked his bike the mile back started washing out the wound with a hose and casually asked who was driving to the ER.

I would find it doubtful because the pebble would have to somehow be "in the air" for them to impact with it in the first place. That being said, if a pebble hit you at 160 mph (if it was sped up instead) it would definitely be possible to do some serious head trauma, sevever the neck? not likely, but you are definitely gonna be injured badly.
