Hi berbers! i am berber from the north and i am looking for a tuareg for love, i am in love with this wonderful and amazing part of our land named : Tenere , kisses ;) I hope that one day my dream will become reality!
This music speaks to my soul.... It is the feeling that everyone feels at some point or another.. The spine tingling sensation... What is that feeling.. Can anyone put a word or description to it... I believe that feeling is the feeling of life...
@tuareg1100 Yes, this is exactly what i am talking about.. What is that feeling? A feeling of energy or what? I've tried to figure out a good description for that feeling... Same feeling you get when you have a revelation or religious experience.
Been into these guys for a while, along with several other artists from Mali. Nice to see them finally get the international recognition they deserve.
im proud of my culture, this singrs's group are algerian AMAZIGH,and they are from southern algeria,AMAZIGH means free man,and also called BERBER,AMAZIGH are natif of north africa, they never been lucky, lot of evasion came to their land and the last big evasion was arabic, they are distroyed by arabic evasion several century ago,too many of ther were killed, thier land is from west egypte to canaria islands, there are too many AMAZIGH groups,TOUAREG,CHAWI,KABYLE,RIF,CHLEUH,INFOUSSEN,MZAB,.....
CBC 1 brought me here. Three years ago, I became a fan and I saw Tinariwen play in BC. I was the guy who yelled 'Matadjem Yinmixan' from the back row. I apologize on behalf of my government because Tinariwen wasn't allowed into the country recently.
@balwinder13 You should listen more music like this. F.e. the touaregs, bassekou kouyate, ali and ieux farka touré. Or artists from Africa Unplugged cd.
I love this song, but I don't know the non-English language (is it Tuareg?) being sung. Could someone provide a rough translation? I'd like to share it with my anthropology students, but I'd prefer to do that if we could get a sense of what the song is about. Thanks!
I gauge most music by whether or not I could convincingly snowboard to it; I'm really, really looking forward to winter so I can try this track out. Awesome! Thanks for the upload.
@AlRayhi91 The New World saw them on the FIFA World Cup closing ceremony. That's where I saw them first, and I have fallen in love with their sound. They are coming to Los Angeles and Boston on their current tour, but I wish they would come to Minnesota. Vive Tinariwen!
@dcs002 Trust me- if there's ONE band in the world worth travelling to see, it's Tinariwen! I've seen them 3 times, and each time was one of the best shows I've ever seen, in my life. They are AMAZING! I hope you get to see them soon..... :)
@Bhaktigirl22 I shared this video with a friend on Facebook, and she said something like "Oh yeah, I know them! We (the art museum she worked at) presented them in 06 or 07," referring to a local cultural festival. They were in Minnesota 3-4 years before I'd heard of them! Man, that's no fair! I'm sure they're worth the trip to Boston, but I've got a pretty low income, and that wouldn't be wise. Some day they'll come back to Minnesota...
@dcs002 I've always been very grateful to live in Los Angeles, where there is such a vibrant "world music" scene, but never more so than each time I saw Tinariwen! And each time we saw them, we were high for 2-3 days afterwards, they take you to such an amazing place....I got 2 of my cd's signed, too, and they are now two of my most-prized possessions. Hopefully you will see them soon!
@dcs002 Tinariwen are coming back to the Cedar Cultural Center, Minneapolis on November 26, 2011. Tix go on sale Fri 8/19. See you Thanksgiving weekend!
this is really disturbing!!!!!!! what the heck are the tv on radio guys doing there except ruining the music? there is no cultural connection? this is pure commercialism at the expense of art .. please stop this crap
@jrak well I know a lot of people from the West who enjoyed that the tv on radio guys were there, and speak some english so everybody can have the chance to understand. Even if it is pure commercialism I don't see where the problem is. They have to be known anyway. The tv on radio guys will make them known even more.
