I am deeply offended that thoser who profess to hold the Bible as the inerrant word of God will not speak out against the heresy that is dominionism. that is because though many would terrorize unbelievers with hellfire preaching they think they must be "nice" to fellow christians. this is not so.
dominionism is worldly, dealing in power, it is not spiritual.
for all her good work Ms Bokaer's critique is flawed, this will only encourage dominionists if they see it. the BIBLE opposes them also
dominionism is the rankest of heresies. I am what many would call a fundamentalist, and *I* hold that dominionism is of its father the devil.
if there is no separation of church and state then BOTH are corrupted. cut taxes? what did Jesus say "Render to caesar what is caesars and to God what is God's"
they would rape the poor, & be damned to hell for it.
dominionism is flagrant abuse of Biblical law. the law was not to be used as a coercive device, for the law made no one perfect (St Paul)
Jesus never said go ye into all the world and kill. The bushes and their like say these things. Who follows such blind men as they falls into the same pit as they will. God has guaranteed this
When a group of religious blatantly tell the world they have a love-affair with shedding blood are you shocked into disbelief? Best understand they mean what they say. The only true thing they've said
Lying murderers of this world will unite against the meek and kill them. "there will come a time when those who kill you will think they are doing god a service." the rest will accept the beasts mark to save their skins, not their souls
If one man did drive-by shootings in god's nane they'd catch him put him away. The doms want license to kill on every street cornerand somehow this is okay with society as well as jesus christ. God is the god of the living not the dead. Doms worship death
What do you think about the dismantling of State's rights by Internationalists? Is that ok? The 10th Amendment says that the powers not prescribed to the Federal Govt in the Constitution are given to the States.
Education is the States responsibility since the Constitution does not give the Fed this power. You do not mention the Constitution much lady, only to insinuate separation of church and State which so happens to not be there...
@ufmb82 Firstly, federal educational oversight is legitimate partially via the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause (Brown v. Topeka BOE is a well-known case). States continue to enjoy broad educational discretion, save when state choices exclude people from equal access to community resources. "Internationalism" has nothing to do with it; it's a matter of civil rights.
...and I explained that in my first post. The 14th Amendment to the Constitution gives the federal court system the standing to take cases in MANY areas, one of which is education, and gives power to the federal bureaucracy to see that certain standards are maintained state to state. Understand this: the highest law in the land is the 27th Amendment, followed by the 26th, and so down the line; they CHANGE the original Constitution and modify earlier amendments...(cont'd)
...for instance, the 21st Am wholly nullifies the 18th Am, and the 14th, 15th, and 19th explicitly change the Constitution's explicit voting rules. The 14th Amendment declares that in spite of the 10th Amendment, the states must adhere to federal law, and the federal government gained the power to enforce its laws. So, we quite legitimately have a national Department of Education.
@ufmb82 Secondly, the separation of church and state is reinforced in multiple places in the Constitution. The first Amendment's Establishment clause is the best-known, but consider also Article 6's No Religious Test clause, which states that no gov't worker can be required to avow to a religion. Again, the 14th Am. establishes that states must respect 1st Am. protections; relevant cases include, among others, Everson v. Board of Education and the later 512 U.S. 687.
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters--yes, even his own life -- he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:25-27).
YET, I AGREE WITH TEXAS CHRITIAN REPUBLICANS: THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IS A TOOL OF PROPAGANDA AND INDOCTRINATION OF OUR CHILDREN AND SHOULD BE ABOLISHED!
What's wrong with abolishing the IRS? They are illegal anyway. The government can perform quite well without any income tax, just like they did up until aroun the 30's. For every service the gov performs there is a tax supporting it. The IRS is just a wasteful bloated bureaucracy that steals off the citizens.
What a bunch of ignorant psychos! I wish they would leave this country and go start their own stone age society. Let's see how much they like being in a brutal barbaric society based on the Bible.

The Taliban were anti-technology. As more men of Christ learn technology than men of hostile faiths, who study recreation advising, because it is fat, we gain the edge and they lose the tech war. They are like, we will win, then they get about as smashed up as any pagan society of the past at the hands of homosapien superius, God's servant.
Christian theocrats and christian reconstructionist are really no different then the Taliban.
Pagan Egypt built pyramids we can't recreate, Pagan Greece figured out the circumference (yes, they knew the world was round) of the Earth IN SPITE of the fact they were oblivious to the existence of the Americas and Pacific ocean. christians, by contrast, lead Europe into the Dark Ages and waged war on Islam. Islam before the crusades gave Europe Math, science, and medicine.
Arabs did not invent math. Math was invented in India and Arabs learned from them and then transferred the knowledge to Europe. And remember, theoretical physics and calculus have been invented by Newton! But I agree, pagan religion, such as Asatru is much better than Christianity.
I see your point, however, our public education system continues to get worse despite our pouring more and more tax dollars into it and putting very intelligent people in charge of it.
I suspect that we're being deliberately dumbed down.
My wife is Japanese, and they do not have the same problems with public education. Neither do the European public education systems. Why are we so incapable of effectively educating American children?
Because we don't care about it. Are you a parent? I would be surprised if you were on your local school board. You want the government to funnel more and more money into it, but that's not an active solution.
The most effective way for a fascist movement to dominate a society is to dumb them down as you put it. Destroy freedom of speech, and of the press, undermine science and education of the next generation and fill their minds with their Christian-fascist propaganda! It makes me sick!!
Hitler did the exact same thing. Republicans dumbing down our schools are like Nazis dumbing down their schools. Remember Nazi Germany had book burnings and encouraged blind obedience, just like George Bush does.
couple of other red herrings here too - how does a flat tax burden the poor? i don't see it. a flat tax expressed as a percentage of income, regardless of how that income is derived seems to me the most equitable. another red herring is the impeachment thing, in my view. In no way can it be construed as puritanical to hold the highest office holder in th e and t a standard of behavior befitting that office. I agree w/ the sentiment of her position, but not w/ the whole argument
I thought the flat tax proposal would be a sales tax. That would burden the poor, since a larger portion of their income goes towards purchasing necessities such as fuel and food.
That said, I'm all for the flat tax. Simplifying the tax code to the point that anyone could understand it would allow for more entrepreneurship and more people would rise out of poverty, except for the truly stupid and lazy, of course.
An secular revolution is possible if not a neccesary evil. I can only hope peaceful protest and constitutional rights are upheld enough to turn the tide.
What Santorum was responding to was the "Lawrence v. Texas" case, the christian response to this case is proof that these republicans believe in anything but "less government".
I'm an atheist, but I do believe that the inheritance tax should be abolished. It's taxing someone's hard work twice, and that's bullshit.

Perhaps they should give the myths at church a short first.

The vouchers could be used to pay for the tuition of secular private schools too. That's kind of a red herring.

They can, but they can also be used for religious schools, which makes them a violation of church-state separation.
