my gt pleasure & honor to hear this immortal on the LVB 3 live, Meadowbrook Music Pavilion, Rochester Michigan circa 1980. Grand, ennobling, awe inspiring. Reverence for LVB matched by audience's reverence for him. So many gr8 recordings ... would apprec recommendations ... Penguin Record Guide loves his LVB conco's 1 to 5. Whereas Marta is full of drama, excitement, taughtness, purpose, Claudio is in the heavens and we are in reverie. Thank you, thank you to his gr8 mentor & piano teacher
Maravillosa, pero qué hermosa interpretación del Rondo Capriccioso!!. Nunca deja de sorprenderme el talento y maestría del maestro Arrau... qué belleza de sonido sabía obtener del instrumento, aún en piezas difíciles como esta... no se me viene a la mente ningún otro pianista con semejante don... su sonido es simple y absoltamente inigualable.

@memobius Quizás estaba deteriorada y fue necesario cortar ese trozo de cinta... en todo caso para mí es muy doloroso ver que le falta un trozo a esta obra de Mendelssohn, un monumental tributo a la belleza interpretativa del maestro Arrau.. ;-(

arrau plays the andante beautifully. it's a shame he plays the rondo so weakly. he usually does better than this. i'm disappointed.
