  • betty ur beutiful

  • I cooked the beef on a stove pan for about 15 minutes until it was all brown colored. Then added onions and the sauce. Is it bests to use seperate pans when mixing the sauce with the meat? I poured everything into the pan I used to cook the beef.

  • @bukakee1 It should not make a difference if you use 1 pan or 2 pans. I don't think you did anything wrong.

    --Betty :)

  • I need help! I finally made spaghetti w/ meat sauce and everything went right, except the taste was a little harsh. And by that I mean that the meat, after I cooked it, still smelled a little raw/spoiled, as it did when it came in the packaging. It wasn't bad enough to prevent me from eating, but I'm curious as to why that raw smell still lingered on?

I bought the beef from Trader Joe's so I'm not questioning the quality.

  • @bukakee1 I don't know specifically what happened with the beef. If it had a strange smell when it came out of the package, I wouldn't expect the smell to go away, just from browning it. Of course, it would be safe to eat after it is cooked, but it should taste really great! I hope you have an opportunity to try it again with different ground beef.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, I Will for sure try that; it looks great. Just want to tell you that I AM Italian-American, and there is nothing wrong w/ serving a more American tasting tomato sauce for a nice change. Little kids love it. Even Real Italians make a version of plain old meatsauce, guess where got mine from? Dom DeLouises' mom! Born and bred in Italy. Its very similar to yours and is only seasoned with Thyme. No Italian spices at all. So just keep doing what you are doing! Thanks, Betty. Tess

  • Thank you Betty, trying it out right now hehe!

  • that looks yummeh ;D

  • @RaspberrySeason Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • hey betty did you just put a whole block of raw groung beef in or what??? please tell me ASAP!!!!! TNX

  • @allstar4920 If you read the recipe (or watch the video), you will see that I browned the ground beef.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty,

Do you add Olive Oil to pan before placing the Ground Beef in the pan or do you go ahead and place the Ground Beef in the pan as is? Also, I just wanted to say that I have the EXACT SAME chopper as you have. I don't have a Big Food Processor but I find the mini one just wonderful!

  • @LisaSMoscow7 Hi Lisa, I do not add any olive or other oil before browning the ground beef. Any drippings that are in the skillet come from the ground beef.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty,

I Would also like to add that I too add Olive Oil and Salt to boiling water when boiling noodles. I find that it gives the noodles flavor and prevent them from sticking to one another, just like you mentioned.

  • @LisaSMoscow7 That sounds great!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty,

Do you reserve any of the Pasta Water for the sauce? I've never tried it, but I know a few people that like to add 1 cup or 1/2 a cup of the pasta water into their sauce.

  • @LisaSMoscow7 I don't reserve any of the pasta water for the sauce. I feel like it would "muddy" the sauce a bit. However, I have never tried it, so I might be wrong.

    --Betty :)

  • I had a question.. Do you add salt in the sausage? Or is it salty enough?

  • @angeles90 I never add salt to sausage. It is already seasoned.

    --Betty :)

  • What a great recipe and a beautiful meal. You southern gals are so charming!

  • @b1rdkeeper Thanks for your sweet comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • nice video. You cook and explain just the way I would... :D I cldnt help but smile when seeing how you laid out the yummy looking dish in a very similar way I do :) And its made me hungry so Im gonna try this for dinner. Thanx for teaching us how to cook in such a simple manner easy to understand. Bless you.- Tan

  • @C4Tforever Hi Tan! Thanks for your lovely comment! I hope you enjoyed the spaghetti with meat sauce!

    --Betty :)

  • i sprinkled parmesan cheese cheddar and mozarella at the top of the sauce

  • @tangkag879 That sounds great!

    --Betty :)

  • does this taste anything like the spagetti casserole??

cause i wanna make a pasta dish but don't know which?

  • @loveryou001 The two dishes taste similar. but they have slight differences. I think you would like them both, so you could just decide whether you want to serve the spaghetti in casserole form or as spaghetti topped with meat sauce.

    --Betty :)

  • So do you ever try cooking the Spaghetti with the sauce?

  • @laurencelikestopgun I have never done that--but I will try it!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks for showing a single guy how to make sauce other than a jar

  • well done! :)

  • Where do you get such low-fat beef. I need to watch my fat intake, and was wandering where u got yours. Do you have to ask it for specialty?

  • Mmmm.now that looks delicious! gotta try that this weekend, great recipe Betty!

  • SO SIMPLE SO GOOD! THANK YOU!

  • lol, i just bought the kroger brand, too. Looks delicious, and so simple:)

  • That looks so yummy!

  • very nice

  • Trying sphaghetti for the first time. I am from India and found your recipe. I followed with slight modifications. Here is what I did. In 11/2 table spoon of olive oil, i lightly sauted onions and added diced tomatoes, 1 " ginger, and 1 cerrano pepper. Sauted them for another minute or so. Then I added ground lamb and browned it for about 10 minutes. Rest of the recipe was exactly like yours... I sprinked tiny bit of paremesan cheese when i ate. Loved it!

  • thats sauce for 10 people , y dont like to make that much at one , dont really like to heve left over sauce or pasta , y like to eat different every day:D

  • Your spaghetti sauce was so tasty. I made the recipe a little different from yours (instead of oregano and basil I used just a dash of italian seasoning and a little extra tomato sauce because I used a thicker meat of 93/7) but it turned out great. :)

Out of curiousity, do you drain your spaghetti in cold water after cooking it? I find the spaghetti less starchy when I do that. I'm not a great cook, but I think it's something worth trying if you haven't done it before. Anyway, thanks. :)

  • I made spaghetti for dinner tonight, actually. For people with smaller kitchens, if you can find sundried tomatoes and tomato paste in a tube, that works really well and doesn't take up much pantry space. :)

Also, if you can find a garlic press, it's really easy to use and clean and garlic lasts forever. There's something wonderful about fresh garlic. (And fresh herbs, hard to come by unless you grow them, where I am, though...)

Love your kitchen. I'm so envious! :D

  • That's great and the final plate looks beautiful!. I'll do that tomorrow.

  • "BOTTOM of the line", lol

  • @slayerisgod6661983 I'm glad your are familiar with the recipe! Thanks for commenting!

  • I love your videos Betty. If you add a stalk or two of chopped celery to the ground beef it adds a delicious flavor to the dish.

  • @weizer2 Adding the celery is a great idea--sounds wonderful! Thanks for your comment and great tip!

  • Betty I really enjoyed that! My husband and I have two different taste, I love veggies and he loves meat....so I am kinda struggling with different meals. Would you be able to cook short ribs in the crock pot or have different ideas for meals? Thanks! ***5 stars***

  • Thanks for your lovely comment! I have done Betty's Easy and Tender Barbecued Boneless Pork Ribs (done in a crock pot). You might enjoy that. You can leave off the BBQ sauce if you don't want them to have the BBQ flavor.

    --Betty :)

  • something i really really really like about you is that you share your recipes with us and many people dont.

  • I am delighted to share all my favorite recipes. Creating and collecting recipes has been a lifelong hobby for me, and it would be rather meaningless if I could not share what makes me happy! Thank you for your kind comment!

    --Betty :)

  • yeah thats true :)

  • Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Everyone else in the world considers Kentucky to be the South lol

I want this for dinner-fly over please?

  • Thanks for backing me up! I subscribe to Southern Living Magazine, and they do lots of articles on KY! I wish I could send you your dinner! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • True Southerners don't consider Kentucky the "south".lol.

  • I'm sure they don't. Let's say I was raised in a home where we only had "Southern" style cooking. I am assuming that you are a "True Southerner." Thanks for writing. You made me smile.

    --Betty :)

  • wow, I can't wait to try this!

  • I hope it turns out great for you! It's nice to hear from you. I hope you are doing okay. Thanks for the sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Italian food is my absolute favorite! The meat sauce looks so simple and delicious so I think I will definitely have to give this a try. Thanks as always Betty! =D

  • You are very welcome! I hope this recipes works well for you! It really is quick and easy to make. Thanks for watching and for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Great tip, Patsy! Readers, please take note!

    Thanks, Patsy.

    --Betty :)

  • Just another idea for your viewers: You did a good job of pointing out that they could use "whole" or "stewed" tomatoes. Just open the can and grab a clean pair of scissors/kitchen shears and cut up the tomatoes right in the can. You can do this with any soft canned fruit or vegetable.

  • That looks delicious. I hope you enjoyed it. I may make this myself tomorrow. :-)

  • You must cook a lot. You seem to be very knowledgeable about cooking. Thanks for your sweet comments, and your loyalty to my channel. I appreciate it more than I can say!

    --Betty :)

  • @Betty,

I like to cook my own food, rather than the microwave meals or buying from takeaways and so forth like some people. My aim is to cook a different meal everyday. Chinese, Thai, Italian, French (you name it), as well as Betty's recipes. Much healthier. :-)

As for my knowledge about food, I wouldn't go that far, but I am enthusiastic. :-)

I think your videos are great. I'm just surprised that you don't have more subscribers. Clearly you are *not* a 'subscriber whore' as they call them. :-)

  • You comments are so kind. I respect your opinion, and I trust that you will tell me if something I do isn't so great! You are a wonderful friend! (I'm beginning to get more subscribers--I just started this at the end of January.)

    --Betty :)

  • I was also surprised to see you don't have a ton of subscribers, but I do know it takes a while to get things rolling. I have no doubt your channel will be one of the most popular cooking channels on YT. You are amazing!

  • Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • We just have to keep spreading the word!

  • Thank you, Deb! That is very sweet of you!

    --Betty :)

  • I could do this recipe minus the meat couldn't I?

  • Definitely! I often leave out the meat. Thanks for bringing that question up!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty love your presentation it looks soo good do you by chance do any catering?

  • No, no catering! I have cooked for my family since I was 12, so that's 48 years that I've been collecting and creating recipes. I've picked up some ideas on presentation along the way, but I do so many videos now that I don't really put a lot of thought into the final look--It's just a matter of heating some bread, looking for an appropriate garnish, and grabbing a glass of ice tea! Thanks for your compliment!

    --Betty :)

  • That looked great! I Live like 45 mins away from you! I'm in London KY!

  • My son-in-law is from London, KY! His name is Chris Adkins; he's 32. Do you know him? Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • No, I don't know Chris! I have only lived in London for about 5 years though. I was originally from Barbourville..
